StatusPRO’s officially licensed quarterback simulation NFL Pro Era will receive a PSVR2 sequel on an as yet unannounced date. The football follow-up – first due out on 28th September for Meta Quest and PC – will incorporate numerous key new features, including online head-to-head multiplayer. “Gamers will have the opportunity to challenge their friends and opponents from around the world to see who can lead their team to victory in exhibitions,” the press release teases.
Other additions over the original include a deeper, more rewarding career campaign, improved passing mechanics, and post-play celebrations – including fist-bumps. The sequel was probably always inevitable, as StatusPRO claims the previous version of the game was the fastest-selling virtual reality sports title ever released on the Meta Quest. It also argues that overall engagement with the title is 2.5x longer than the industry average.
We played the original game a fair amount during the PSVR2’s launch period, and while we did find the passing mechanics a bit inconsistent at times, there’s no doubt that it offered an incredibly immersive – and, crucially, authentic – NFL experience. Assuming the sequel can successfully build on that, this should be a must-own for NFL fans.

NFL Pro Era wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great either. The better football game, despite not having an official license, is 2MD VR Football.
