October 2023's PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium games have been officially announced. We already knew about a chunk of this selection thanks to a leak earlier this week, but as is usually the case with Extra in particular, there are a bunch of titles that weren't mentioned.
We're looking at 15 games in total across both subscription tiers, all of which will be available to download from the 17th of October.

- SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny (PSP Classic)
- Ape Escape Academy (PSP Classic)
- IQ Final (PS1 Classic)
There are some undeniable bangers up for grabs this month. For starters, we can't recommend the excellent Disco Elysium enough — an immaculately written detective RPG that thrills from start to finish. Elsewhere, Alien Isolation, Dead Island Definitive Collection, The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, and Outlast 2 add a bit of Halloween spice to proceedings, while Gotham Knights might be a decent shout if you're looking for a more casual action game to grind through.
Then, on the PS Plus Premium side of things, we've got four classics. Fighting game fans will likely jump at the chance to replay Tekken 6 and SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny — two PSP titles — while yet another Ape Escape game and IQ Final round the selection off.

Terrible for premium to be honest. Psp and ps1 games that no one wants but none of the ones we do want. Still no ps2 games and no new ps3 games. Sony really needs to up their game or I doubt many will subscribe to premium anymore its actually insulting what premium gets compared to what was promised
Good list for me this month only own one of theses games and will probably play most of these at some point.
@supergurr Speak for yourself, I'm hyped as hell for Tekken and SoulCalibur. Both were great PSP games.
But yes, I agree in that we need more from Premium overall. A seemingly random assortment of three or four games every month doesn't really cut it for the price — especially after the increase.
Gotham Knights is coming to Game Pass and PS Plus in the same month.
Is that going to be a normal thing now?
Kurushi !!!!!!!!! Thats all i can say
A good range of games in there both in terms of genres and AAA/AA/Indie. Also a nice mix of classics (like Disco Elysium) but also games that people may be on the fence about paying hard cash on (like Gotham Knights). Good month imho.
@Kienda I think post-release this makes a lot of sense for studios, adds a second large wave of money, but also a second wave of players and interest, which in turn will boost sales on other platforms or those without subscription-services on these platforms.
Still haven’t seen any justification for that ridiculous price hike but that said I’m excited to try out Disco Elysium and Gotham Knights. Premium is still a joke though and continues to look like a wasted opportunity. Also highly recommend horror fans that haven’t played House of Ashes or Alien Isolation to give them a shot.
Another month goes by and still no Daxter, R&C: Size Matters, Resistance Retribution etc etc...
Ah well! Spiderman 2 in 9 days!
Hell I wish they would add back the original Killzone that was on PS Now.
This is good month of games for Extra. The Premium games are good I guess, I've just never been into playing old games like that on a new console. I feel like Sony is the same way with Premium, mainly focus on Extra and base PS Plus.
I might finally play Disco Elysium after Spider-Man 2. Maybe give House of Ashes a go too finally. Good Job Playstation with this Month.
Gotham Knight might worth a hour or two lol.
Tekken and soul calibur are fine and all, but I wasn’t expecting that I’d still be waiting for the rumored releases of Dino crisis, resistance retribution and shadow hearts a year and a half later
Again Premium is an absolute joke
@Smiffy01 oh hell yeah. i played the hell out of the first one when it got added, looking forward to that!
I have premium and i was trying to download Disco Elysium and it says 11.99$ 🤔
With preordered Lords of the Fallen and Alan Wake 2 (and partly played Lies of P in my backlog) on my upcoming pile of shame theres not much time for anything. But to sum in up, it's a good update. Hope Disco will stay a little bit longer on plus.
@SweetChaos 17th of October
@SweetChaos
17th of october..
@SweetChaos these are avaiable from next week, right now they are not included for extra/premium
Got a feeling I'll go straight from BG3 to Disco Elysium (I have to actually play something on Extra this year xD) although maybe I'd need a break between with something lighter.
Did anyone get Max Payne vibes from DE? It looks grubby enough to fill that grimey detective noir void, even of it's in a completely different game genre. I love when games strongly use elements from film noir, so I'm hoping it does 😁
Extra doesn't have much for me this month but Premium is actually really good this month. Idk why people are scoffing at these games like they're bad or not worth checking out, because I think all of these games are ones I would wanna play
@supergurr Dude this is arguably one of the best selection of PS1 and PSP games we've had. The main problem is simply the rate they're coming out. I bet if there was one really good PS1 or PSP RPG here everyone would be going crazy. It's not like PS1 and PSP games are bad, plus if you already have Premium you might as well try them and make your investment worth it
@LordAinsley Wish Devil Dice and Kula World were added too 😀
Gotham knights is listed as PS4, this version was cancelled in 2022. Please don't get my hopes up for no reason. Unless they finally decided to reach the rest of their audience? But I doubt it. Not a bad selection overall. Shame I own more than half of these lol
@Ravix Ohh, i didnt see that. Thanks for the heads up
A bit rude to put Elite Dangerous on there. Considering it's now only supported on PC and just a dead end game for console players... On the flip side, Alien Isolation is crafted with love and deep respect for the source material and is a must have. Just remember not to sneeze if noise detection is on!
Eldest souls is a really good game.word up son
@supergurr please, speak for yourself, you are not We
One day il get The Getaway on Premium, one day
Honestly might try Roki out this winter and finally use my PS+ sub for once instead of buying new games. Depends on how I feel about Baldur’s Gate 3 around December time after I get back to it in November, I suppose.
I'm still scratching my head to why premium is called premium or its even existence.
Access to demo which should be free in the first place.
Literally a single handful of classics if that, the rest keep getting missed and odd ball games no one would call classics are being given and we get just 3 games, its not even as though we started with a huge catalog worth of games to entice anyone and then getting treated like a ps plus free games a month ratio.
To top it off slapping a huge £20 difference for it.
I just dont getnit how they can be so on point with extra and so completely out of touch with premium.
More like IQ FINALLY amirite? Our prayers have been answered.
they could have just gave me disco or elite and ida been happy first good month in ages
Premium is a bit 'meh' but extra seems pretty good to me. As the article says some great Halloween games in there, and I'll finally get to play Disco elysium, which has been on my 'to play' list for years. The refresh is a few days before Spiderman as well so will have a few days to play them before Peter Parker owns my gaming thumbs for a while
I'm quite busy with BG3 right now to invest in PS+ for any reason. I have that and AI to play through. On top of that, my cleric-type build playthrough on Elden Ring.
Nothing here looks especially enticing by comparison, and I already own Disco, Alien, House of Ashes...
I would really love to see yugioh duelist of the rose come out as either a remake or a ps plus game favorite yugioh game ever
@supergurr Speak for yourself. There are two excellent PSP versions of fighting games, especially Tekken 6, more Ape Escape, which is never a bad thing and to top it all off, IQ Final, which, and I am sure I'm speaking for a number of gamers here, we are finally getting outside of Japan and Europe.
Everyone complains about Premium but it sounded garbage from the beginning,
I'm amazed it's the most popular tier.
@MinerWilly surely not?
My theory on this is your average consumer.
If I was the average consumer and had to put my kid on the Internet and pay for ps plus and when that comes up and your given 3 options, my guess is most will just go for the premium.
Plus those figures are probably wrong due to the many people who stacked up before the switch, which many opted for the ps now plan as this would of got you premium for alot cheaper price at the time
@Fighting_Game_Loser I love Tekken tbh but compared to what we were led to believe we would be getting the game selection is very poor. No tomb raider, metal gear solid, resident evil, gran turismo, tenchu, 007, die hard trilogy, star wars games spyro, jrpgs and final fantasy or any of the big games for ps1. In fairness the psp selection is decent and has some good games. But ps2 is non existent. All of the ps2 games were available before the service changed none have been added since, and pretty much the same for ps3. So compared to what we were sold in the beginning its very underwhelming for premium over all. And yes i know a lot of the games are good games its just they probably wouldn't be on the top of most people's most wanted lists
Premium is so bad lol. Release some bonefied classic PS1 games before releasing lower tier games. I'd imagine the only reason why they don't release more is cause studios are looking at "remastering" their old games and charging for them again (think Tomb Raider trilogy). But, come on... Digimon World 1 with trophies would kill my social life.
Most of the stuff is on [its way to] Switch, but I may give Dead Island and Elite Dangerous a roll.
Looking forward to Tekken and soul calibur as I never had a PSP.hiuse of ashes is another I'm looking forward to playing.
Mind if u have a PS4 camera u can use it to make alien isolation so much scarier
@Kienda Normal to failed games still tying to get the revenue and go + in what they got invested.
Wow, a couple of decent titles for Premium for once. Not sure if it’s worth upgrading for as yet, but at least it’s something.
I tried out Disco Elysium once and couldn't get into it, but might give it another shot. My PS Plus expires next month and I'm not planning to renew it so needing to try and get some use out of it before then.
Jeez. Much of the Plus list has already run through [or is now on] Game Pass. Still plenty I haven't played on Plus backlog as I sat out last gen for consoles, but don't think renewing Plus for new listing will be worth it in 8 months time.
Alien Isolation is worth playing if you haven't yet. It's long for a horror game but it's just so well done. Sound and environmental noises were top notch. When I got frustrated, I'd find some friendly survivors and bang my wrench against the wall a few times, then hide in a closet and watch the Alien tear some new holes. Also tossing a noisemaker at their feet and hiding while they wonder what's up. Oh, good stuff.
A noticeable lack of knack 2.
@themightyant @Kienda
I noticed another pattern. It seems games are usually offered in Humble Bundle's subscription around the time they come to Game Pass or PS+, likely for reasons @themightyant stated. House of Ashes was in the Humble Choice games this month and it's also in PS+.
Only 7 games coming to psplus extra in Japan. We miss out on Disco Elysium which was the game I was most looking forward to playing. I’m kinda mad and thinking of just canceling
Disco Elysium is one of the greatest games of all time, so glad it’s going to be in a lot more hands now.
@TheCollector316 yes, I noticed that too for some games. I think bringing games to as many subscriptions services as they can negotiate is smart business. As I mentioned it gives the game a second wave of interest that will also lead to additional sales too, It’s basically additional marketing.
But getting games onto these services can be hard. Sometimes the games aren’t wanted, or the platform holder doesn’t want to pay enough so it’s not as simple as just wanting to be included, your game needs to have enough cachet that they want it on the service. This is a real struggle for smaller, less well know titles and developers. Many have said they want to be on Game Pass, for example, but couldn’t. It’s a bit of an exclusive club.
One of the things I love most about PS+/Game Pass/etc is that it broadens my gaming, I play games I would likely not buy and try genres I’m not sure about as it removes risk.
@SweetChaos You might want to wait till they are released on the service?
Perfectly happy again this month....and that includes premium.
Premium costs an extra £2.50 a month, you cant even buy a coffee for that so I dont know what people expect to be given at that price - obviously more than they get!
For me, even without the games (and there are loads in the premium section), it would be worth just for streaming. If I'm not sure if an 'extra' game is worth playing, I'll give it a try via streaming before I waste my time downloading it. I've also saved some money via some of 'trials' I've tried, and i like the new Sony Cinema service too. Be interesting to see where they go with that perk..
Definitely excited for Gotham Knights. I just love a Batman story honestly!
@supergurr Yeah I guess that's fair. I know many titles aren't what most people want, but lets face that kinda is most of Sony's line-up of first party titles until maybe the PS3's latter years. Most of the PS1 games you mention here are already on Playstation in their own game that the currents owners would want you to buy more like Tomb Raider, Spyro, Metal Gear, and Final Fantasy, or are impossible to bring over due to current licencing issues like Gran Turismo, Die Hard, and 007. The only you mentioned that could come over are the classic RE games but obviously Capcom doesn't want them on there that badly. I just think Sony has a harder time being able to channel across the board nostalgia for their classic titles compared to Nintendo because most of the titles that were massive hits on Playstation, were third-party titles they have no control over or are limited to being relevant to specific ages of people who grew up with a specific Sony console
@sonicmeerkat I can’t understand why—out of all the first party games put on PS Plus—Sony thinks Knack 2 is the one title people will pay for.
Please try House of Ashes everyone. It’s really good for fans of cinematic horror games. I would say it’s the third best game of Supermassives cinematic horror games.
