It's odd to think that Baldur's Gate 3 doesn't have a physical form on PS5. The incredibly highly rated RPG launched about a month ago, but it was straight to the PlayStation Store with no word of a boxed edition. We've seen plenty of fans asking for one — but developer Larian Studios has yet to commit to anything.
That's still the case, but the team's director of publishing Michael Douse may have just hinted that it could happen. "Bumping for interest," Douse wrote on Twitter, quoting an account that was attempting to gauge feelings on a physical release.
To be honest, we've always assumed Baldur's Gate 3 would get a physical edition at some point down the line — especially with how popular it's proven to be. From where we're sitting, it's only a matter of time — and it's entirely possible that the eventual boxed version will act as a bundle for the game's seemingly inevitable expansions.

I’ll be there day one if so.
Might give it a try then
Do it. It's the only reason I'd buy it.
Same as with Alan Wake 2. Bring it on Disc or I won't buy it!!!
A physical version of Baldur's gate 3 is definitely coming.larian studio is a amazing developer.word up son
Good. I much prefer physical.
I'd but it if I didn't already own it.
I hate digital gaming with a passion but this is one of only 2 games I've bought day one because of the effort that's gone into it (the other is out soon)
I am waiting for this to grab this game.
Don’t have time to play this right now, so physical down the road would be perfect. So yes, and happy to wait.
i find it bizarre how many people refuse to buy a digital copy - you are missing out on one of the best games of the generation....even one of the best games ever....
i bought digital deluxe version and yes would buy physical again, would sit on the shelf nicely alongside BG1&2
I'm waiting for physical since release...
The "I'll be there" meme is perfect for this note.
Why the Hell wouldn't they? I'd buy it a second time, along with many many others
Good thing I kept putting off purchasing the game! If there is a physical I’ll just wait and buy that version.
I'd buy it again for the shelf. And probably gift it to a few people as well. I'll put that PlayAsia import order on hold, then.
I won't lie, It's never looked that appealing to me as a game but I actually wouldn't be against grabbing a physical copy if this happens.
Who knows maybe it'll grab like it has done for many others.
It looks amazing but it seems a massive time dump…an I have a huge back log and Assassin Creed Mirage landed on my shelf today…Won’t be buying it until there is a physical copy anyway
I'll buy it on physical without a doubt but if it never gets a physical release i'll wait on a big sale as i am never paying sonys over inflated prices on the store for new releases.
I haven't bought it yet because I want this on a physical disc, so this is great news.
If I'm going to get it, it certainly won't be a useless space waster and drink coaster. Like most gamers, we went all digital a decade+ ago; film, TV, and music everyone already does, not sure why collectors are holding back gamers.
@Northern_munkey you mean the industry standard? Gaming has been the same price for almost 30 years plus, digital always ends up being cheaper in the long run. Do you not pay attention to the several flash sales each month? Physical collectors really have no idea what they're talking about.
@slayernz those people have a fear of something that doesn't exist and think disc grants them ownership despite the rights being exactly the same. I'm a gamer, not a collector. I play, not stare at my shelf. I hope these same people don't use Netflix, Spotify, etc. Hypocrites.
@RobynAlecksys yeah ok thanks bud 👍
This game would've stormed the charts if it was released on physical. Still, as it stands, I bought it digitally because it's a stellar game and shouldn't be avoided, physical or no.
Yeah!!!! we can get the license to download the game off a piece of plastic.
Only reason why I didn’t buy. Full price for digital just isn’t worth it. I’m fine with an only digital future, but that just means buying games full price stops there. $30 max from me for these big budget games, and that’s only if I really want to play the game. Backlog is huge enough to let me wait it out or even care about playing games early.
@PixelDragon oh well you are the one missing out mate....you are gonna wait a good couple of years (if not more) to play one of the best games released in recent memory....even more bizarre that you appear to be a fan with the original boxed copies....anyway your loss mate!!!!
@PixelDragon
im in the same boat, kids, work, home life etc....so the little time ii do get to game, i make sure i play great games that are worth the precious time....
so i reckon you really should give it a go, dont think youll be disappointed!!!
@slayernz
Not everyone likes buying games digital and buy physical only.
If the deluxe edition never releases in the UK I’ll buy the game digitally.
I don’t currently have 100 odd space free at the moment and depending on what I get for Christmas will depend on whether I get the game over Christmas and New Year or sometime in the few months afterwards.
I prefer having physical games other digital
@PixelDragon
I’ve heard it costs £20 to have the game delivered over here in the UK from Larian’s website hoping they put the deluxe edition or Game or Amazon otherwise I won’t be getting a physical copy
@Dragoon1994 yeah but its ridiculous that people could've potentially missed out on playing probably one of the games of the generation for this reason...i guess lucky for you lot it is releasing physically.....
and my advice to you is make room on your HD and play this before you play any other game, ive been playing nonstop since release, 500+ hours in and still finding new stuff, you guys are in for a treat
@slayernz
I’m someone that likes playing a few games at a time as I don’t like just playing on one game.
Most of us aren’t actually lucky with the physical version as it’s only available on Larian’s website and isn’t actually properly available to people in the UK and is said to be £20 postage so nearly double the price of the digital version.
I’ll most likely be getting the game digitally as I don’t think we’ll actually have it properly available over here.
I prefer owning games physically given the option
