Long Gone Days is a turn-based RPG with visual novel elements that explores the horrors of modern war, and it's out today on PS5 and PS4. It's been in development for years, with a demo first emerging on PC back in 2016.
The official description reads as follows: "A modern-day RPG that imagines a world of war. Overcome language barriers, forge unlikely friendships, and find hope amidst conflict. After being deployed to his first mission, Rourke leaves The Core's base for the very first time, only to discover the dark truth about the operation he's part of and the consequences of deserting an inescapable war."
Sadly, we don't have to imagine such a world, but indie developer This I Dreamt's take is intriguing. The marriage of its gorgeous pixel aesthetics and serious subject matter was always going to get our attention, but the timing of this one is slightly surreal. There are no random encounters, and combat is a turn-based, first-person affair in the style of classic dungeon crawlers, so we'll take a closer look at this one.

Uncomfortable and coincidental timing for launch.
Looks heavy. I’m not sure my heart could handle it
Will this get a mini-review? Looks interesting.
Wishlisted. The trailer makes it look very interesting.
A great music track too - is that original music? Shazam doesn't recognise it.
