NIS America has today confirmed it'll be releasing its PS5 double pack of Trails of Cold Steel III and direct sequel Trails of Cold Steel IV on 16th February 2024. This new version hands both games a native PS5 version at once, and you can catch them in action in the gameplay trailer above.
The PS5 versions will come packaged with some bonus cosmetics, and then a press release explains how "the land of Erebonia shines in high definition on PlayStation 5! Experience the beautiful surroundings like never before." However, it doesn't share any specific resolutions or frame rates. Based on past efforts from Falcom — such as the PS5 version for Ys VIII — this will be a fairly basic upgrade that those who have already played the games need not purchase.
Still, if you've been waiting to play these JRPGs for the first time on PS5, then they slot directly into the crowded release schedule already brewing in early 2024. The double pack releases in the middle of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Tekken 8, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Persona 3 Reload, Helldivers 2, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Will you set some time aside for Rean Schwarzer and co early next year? Plan your timetable in the comments below.

Tch... i would've taken a free upgrade. No way am i rebuying.
"Some Bonus Cosmetics"
I take it that doesn't mean it comes bundled with all the original DLC.
Also February 2024 will go down as the best month in JRPG history.
NIS is so guilty of reiterating these Falcom games just for more $$$.
Guys, keep your PS4 versions and don’t buy these “new” ones.
Yeah, that's all fine and dandy, but as someone who would love to get into the series proper, I would be more keen on getting the Trails in the Sky trilogy ported to modern platforms
I still have my sealed Ps4 copy that I bought at launch.I was so burnt out by the end of TOCS 2 I just needed a rest.
@Wazeddie22 same, currently going through TOCS 2, which to me so far is quite a drag compared to the previous games. Also have my PS4 copies of 3 and 4, but will be a while before I continue with them.
As someone who just got into this series about 6 months ago this double pack is perfect! I started at TOC 1 as I do not have access to the Skies series. Here in the states the PS4 versions of 1 & 2 are ridiculously priced so had to buy the physical from PAL area and 3 & 4 go for full price used. So having this as a double pack even with only slight upgrades is a god send! Think I will finish 2 then hit the Crossbell arch then onto these.
Re-release the prior games already!
These are some of the greatest games ever made. I've spent around 130 hours per title in this bundle. Do yourself a favor and get a good soundbar. It really enhances these two games. I bought a Samsung S50B and it really made it even better.
Totally intending to get into these games in 2024... on the PS4 versions I've already bought.
As others have said, would be way more excited for an announcement about Trails in the Sky games getting a port.
This is primarily for people like me who have recently got into the series but haven't had them sitting in their backlog for years. Better to have these available than not. But Iagree, NIS has a terrible track record of abusing their niche fanbase with forcing them to pay full price rather than make it crossbuy. The fact is, they've already grown reliant on these fans gobbling them up so there's no need to change business tactics now.
Thanks, capitalism!
Man if this doesn't come with all the dlc ima be pissed
If it was $50 for both plus all DLC and PH3 did it then… maybe.
For now I am using my Steam Deck for most new 3rd party games. I would make exceptions for particularly excellent releases, graphically intense games, or games many family members want to play (couch coop etc).
Trails is all for me.
