October's wave of new releases has begun in earnest now, with Assassin's Creed Mirage launching at the end of last week. It climbed near the top of the UK's boxed games chart, making a number two debut behind the predictably popular EA Sports FC 24.
It isn't the only new release in the top 10 — Nintendo's Detective Pikachu Returns debuts in third place — while the remainder is about what you'd expect. Hogwarts Legacy drops two places to fifth, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is back up into sixth, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is up one place at number seven. Mortal Kombat 1 slips from second to eighth.
Here's the latest top 10 in full (physical sales only).

Keeping my wallet locked and loaded for Spider-Man 2.
It would be nice to see how it compares to other Assassin's Creed games in terms of sales. I'm sure we'll find out eventually. I don't think it's done as well as Valhalla, but we'll see. Hope I'm wrong.
Mirage feels like coming home. Just great old-school AC vibes. Really enjoying it!
Really enjoying Mirage so far. I wish it plenty of success. Is it GotY? No. Is it totally worth playing, however? Absolutely.
I don't get how the same game every year sells so much.
@CutchuSlow
Unfortunately, people do it to themselves.
It's a crime Final Fantasy XVI is not topping that list still.
@CutchuSlow well, Valhalla released in 2020... So it is 3 years since that moment if we are talking about pure games not DLCs. And even though I won't give most of AC games 9+ out of 10, they are still decent games which easily live up to expectations and have plenty of content.
Cool.Assassins creed mirage is a good game.word up son
@Tomato_Goose I was talking about FC/Fifa. Same game every year, is it not?
@CutchuSlow I am not that familiar with the series - played FIFA 2000, 2007 and something like 2020 or so. Each time I was pretty impressed with graphics that's obvious. But beside that fact soccer is soccer for me. Maybe someone who plays new FIFA every year could tell more about all the changes and upgrades, who knows.
@Tomato_Goose it's usually just minor differences from the year before. Of course, 2007 to 2020 will be a lot different. But from 2022 to 2023, I don't think there's much of a difference. Tho I never played either of these games, I just think that's how it is.
Not really surprised by the top 3. Hopefully the final sales tally for Assassin's Creed: Mirage will be enough that Ubisoft considers another lower budget, 'classic' style AC game in the future, between the more RPG focused efforts.
