Less than a week after release, EA Sports WRC is getting its first major patch in a bid to fix a number of issues. Arriving today, 8th November 2023, the 1.4GB update will bring the game to version 1.3, and it's setting its sights on technical hiccups and a laundry list of minor bugs and errors.
As mentioned, the main aim for this update seems to be to improve the game's overall stability and frame rate. While it does largely hit 60 frames-per-second, it does fluctuate fairly often — enough to notice it as a problem. With the frame rate sometimes stuttering, or even halting for a brief moment, it can totally break the flow of your driving, which isn't good for a game all about driving. Here's hoping this patch can improve on that.
Elsewhere, the patch makes improvements across the entire game; fixing crash instances, improving and fixing graphical issues, correcting voice and text errors, audio adjustments, Builder mode's user interface, improvements to lots of vehicles, specific co-driver calls, and much more.

Phew! Now that's a patch. Again, hopefully this update remedies a lot of the game's issues, particularly its performance. Have you been having trouble with EA Sports WRC? Cut into the comments section below.

Anyone knows whether "copy on reverse" option in livery editor has been implemented? I would check this but I'm away from my PS5.
Wow what a list, will try this later, hopefully it is sorted alot of the issues
Now that’s what I call patch notes!
Welcome and swift update, playing last night the core gameplay, feel of rallying and wide range of options are great but the technical issues were far too noticeable. Frame rate drops and screen tearing were highly disruptive, but the patch notes are promising regarding performance as well as the other improvements.
Really glad to see a nice big update like this. Hopefully they can solve the screen tear issue.
This is nice, but still need to wait to fix gameplay bugs. This is more visual patch.
Still there is one big problem, if you quit rally event in Career mode and come back later, then AI is dropped seeminy to 0 AI, tho in settings, nothing changed, till then end of event for all remaining stages. Can't do anything to fix it through settings. That is off putting. It is like drive all rally event stages in one go or better dont drive at all if you dont have time or energy to complete 1hr+ event.
@REALAIS Oh man! I hadn't realised that, but I think you may be right. I was having a good competitive rally in Career mode the other day and I took a break midway through, came back, and then I was beating everyone by literal minutes in each stage for the last couple.
@Jake3103 EA reporting forum is full with this issue. For some it happens by recalibrating ForceFeedBack aswell. But mainly, if you quit, then you start to get minutes advantage.
Another issue is that game tends to bug out if AI DNF. There can be that in case of DNF for AI at stage, that all their previous stage times gets 00:00:00, and then they win event by finishing remaining stages time sum. For example, you could be driving for total 25min in event, and suddenly you see that AI have won event by driving 10-15min in total. These two are for now main issues for Career mode.
Loving the game so far. Absolutely LOVING it. The things I’ve noticed on PS5 are:
-In replays, headlights and their light output aren’t on for the beginning of the race for some reason. It’s like there’s a delay before they are rendered. One instance lasted a good 15 seconds into the replay before lights came on.
-framerate hiccups, nothing major but there were a few “moments”. About 7 races and it happened twice. This includes lots of screen tearing.
-I wish you could preview the co-driver voice before you select it. “Voice 1” “Voice 2” etc is not helpful at all. You can only hear what it sounds like when you’re in a race which is crazy unless I’m missing something
That’s all so far! Game is definitely the best rally game in the past few years. Feels completely fresh and I love the audio: music, pre-race banter, pace notes.
Doesn’t anybody have the brightness problem? I cant see the road properly in Sweden but also the roads in Mexico Grease etc etc. I tried to fiddle with the gamma settings and it doesn’t help. I have an HDR tv (TCL 55C735) but i don’t use it. Strangely this title looks better in HDR but with the HDR brightness on 35. I noticed on other fora that randomly other users have this same problem!
And btw, is v1.2 on PS5 the same patch as 1.3 on PC?
I’m still not showing the update today on my PS5. I’m still in version 1.002.000.
Tried a manual update in the software settings too.
Weird!
Noticed a lot less stuttering and frame drops. Though still happening. At least it's playable now.
@ChromaticDracula
It is 1.3 on PC. V1.2 on console
@Nexozi Then your probably only playing ‘time trial’? Just setup a quick play and watch…… Stutter and screentear galore. It’s maybe less than before but still unexceptabe!
@Hypoman I've not played time trial at all. I know what it looks like. I'm confused, I said it's still happening so not sure what this reply is about. Said it playable because it's not giving me a sore head after 2 stages now. I booted it up last night and the graphics are now screwed as well. Like playing with the brightness turned down.
@Nexozi
I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to offend you. I agree that it is slightly better but still a long way to go!
@Hypoman Yea, it's a mess of a game. When they got the license 3 years ago I was expecting us to get DR 3. Will not be pre-ordering the next one that's for sure.
