Insomniac Games has just released a new update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Taking the game to version 1.001.005, the 460MB patch is yet another effort to squash a host of pesky bugs. It's available to download and install now.
The patch includes various fixes, such as collision errors, missions failing to trigger, losing the ability to jump, and plenty more. It also improves the game's overall stability, which is never a bad thing.
Here are the full patch notes:
- Addressed an issue where NPCs could spawn on top of each other in boats
- Addressed an issue where MJ could be defeated in one hit on higher difficulty settings
- Addressed multiple issues where hiding the HUD would cause some missions to fail to trigger
- Addressed an issue where collision was missing on the floor in the harbor
- Further addressed issues where players could become stuck in the finale of Marko's Memories
- Addressed an issue where players could switch character during the defeat sequence.
- Addressed an issue where the player could become stuck running on a wall
- Addressed an issue where the wrong Spider-Man could receive phone calls if the player switched characters during a call
- Addressed an issue where the player could lose the ability to jump
- Addressed multiple issues where inputs would not register after zipping to a point
- Addressed an issue where the game would not properly reload after being defeated by a boss.
- Addressed an issue where Peter Parker could become stuck on a bench or railing.
- Addressed an issue where Spider-Man could clip through the map and become stuck during combat
- Addressed an issue where the Hang Ten Trophy would not count flips accurately
- Addressed an issue where inputs would not register after grabbing a memory crystal
- Further addressed issues where models would not load properly after long play sessions
- Addressed an issue where the player character could leave a mission and enter the open world resulting in corrupted saves
- Improved stability

Oh I do love it when devs take the time to publish patch notes like this. Good on Insomniac!
Already platinumed
It's been odd with this game. I haven't experienced any bugs whatsoever and I'm 20 hours in now but seems like some have had a pretty iffy experience. Good on them for getting a patch out to address it though.
I have the platinum (as I do for every Insomniac game released on PlayStation since 2014) and I am waiting for NG+!!!
I adore this game, but it’s so much buggier than any other Insomniac game I’ve played.
@Odium
I have to agree. I usually never play games at launch, but I knew I had to for this one to avoid spoilers. I also almost never pre-order, but I needed that amazing statue.
Got the platinum and didnt have any noticeable bugs until the final end cut scene where there was 2 lol. Great game but like the rest, for me its a one and done.
I am still stuck on a bench! Help! 😃
Spider -Man 2 is an absolutely awesome game, and I am loving it. But it has more technical problems than any Insomniac game I have seen. I have had to restart multiple missions because the last enemy in an area spawned underground. Some missions have not popped when they are supposed to, and Spidey has def. gotten stuck in the environment a couple times in combat. And yes, during a main mission I did get stuck on a bench with no way to get up.
None of this was gamebreaking and all were fixed by a restart. But it is annoying in an otherwise fantastic adventure.
@Westernwolf4 I've had a few of these issues too. Mainly when my 6 year old takes over and really tests a game to its limit! Hopefully with a few iterations we should see the game back to its standard quality and without these niggling (and seemingly rare) bugs. Maybe it depends how you play I guess!
The funniest glitch I had on my play through was when I fast traveled (which I rarely do) and popped up inside of a building. Looked odd from the inside out 😆
I just had to FT again to get out though, so it wasn't a big deal.
Wait MJ being defeated in one shot was a bug? Or was it just because people were complaining about dying too much because ya know... it's a harder difficulty?
If you put a d-pad shortcut as L1+O during the lizard piano puzzle it would break all the inputs forcing you to restart.
@KeldorTheCursed happened to me too and couldn’t get out but there was a blue chest in it
@Blofse Same for me. My youngest is a little older than yours, but when he is playing is when the most bugs show up. Insomniac can’t keep up with his chaotic play style! 😂
Can’t wait for the NG+ update - bring it on!
Release NewGame+.
And DLC so I can get on with my life. I'm waiting oh so patiently.

Because of the reviews of this game, I picked up Miles Morales from PS Plus Extra. It really baffles me just how polished the game is. Just wow.
I was going to wait for the inevitable GOTY edition, but ended up buying a used version ( thank God for physical editions). I have to say, I had a quite a lotta bugs. Lighting bugs, being stuck where I shouldn't enter twice. Game fully stopped and my PS5 restarted once. Texture glitching.
Game is really great to play, although very similar to previous ganes. Enjoying story so far. Apart from the bugs (all resolved with restart) I'm really liking the game abd night even go for plat
Addressed an issue where the wrong Spider-Man could receive phone calls if the player switched characters during a call
I thought this bug was funny to be honest. And I guess no more tofu
Already done with the game but I encountered many bugs too on the way ! nice game like always !
That corrupted save bug sounds bad.
So far I've only had one bug, but had it happen a few times.
In the random enclosed/mini base-like areas/back alleys, with a turret truck and usually two robot dogs, if I destroyed the turret truck before all the enemies, I would get an on screen message telling me to "destroy the turret." But since I already did, it locks me out of completing the encounter and I lose out on all of its end rewards/XP.
I probably had it happen on 3 occasions, far enough apart I kept forgetting. Now I just save the turret for last. I've yet to see a fix for it in any of the recent patches.
So just an FYI for anyone.
I just remembered, I wish the game had a return cameo from the greatest Spider-Man in all of the multiverse.
Spider-Brick
@Kang81 it did. When i completed the game and it throws you back in to the world i was playing as a white brick swinging about the city 😂😂
I was going to platinum it right away but thought this game deserved two playthroughs. So I’ll NG+ it much later on with hopefully DLC story content as well. Obviously DLC isn’t a guarantee but I can dream. Can’t wait to replay it with more patches like this eventually
“Addressed an issue where MJ could be defeated in one hit on higher difficulty settings“
I was thinking that’s how it works, like she a human and defeated by one hit
I've Platinum'd it also and had very few bugs. The game full on crashed around 5 times though.
The subtitles and audio didn't match up a couple of times near the start of the game and an enemy got stuck under the floor one time when I was cleaning up the last couple of trophies.
I only started playing a week ago though, so it had already received patches.
@Bartig I picked that up when I got my PS5 and did NG+ for the plat last week, as I'd simply not gotten around to it, that playthrough was a right 'mare, I was glitching into buildings, landing underground along with a few other oddities. I was surprised because my first playthrough was flawless, as was Spider-Man (PS5 version) SM2 has been buggy as hell for me too. Which has been annoying.
I finally got around to starting this earlier in the week and am quite shocked at how buggy it appears to be. I spent an hour (maybe more) last night playing as a tiny white cube and have had many crashes/freezes all week. A number of crimes have had to be abandoned because it either wouldn't let me finish the task, or there would be one remaining enemy who wasn't on the map. Subtitles have been way out of sync, duplicated or just skipped and some of the side missions haven't enabled me to start them.
Oh, and, it's made my PS5 black screen more than once and I've lost audio coming out of menus, forcing me to restart the thing.
Gotta admit this puts me off of getting games early.
Halfway through and not a single bug until last night after it patched. Was at Coney Island, and watched a helicopter fly in from the sea and right into the building I'm perched on, and blip out of existence. The chopper audio played for about 5 more seconds then cut out also. It was kind of cool
@Kidfunkadelic83
Nice! Spider-Brick is the best.
