Between LittleBigPlanet and Dreams, Media Molecule made Tearaway β a brilliant, whimsical platformer where everything was made of paper. Initially released for PS Vita and eventually ported to PS4 in Tearaway Unfolded, the game is a truly joyous adventure, each version making the most of its hardware to provide a super tactile experience. Today the series celebrates its 10th anniversary, and with that comes a special announcement about the games' soundtracks.
Media Molecule has announced the music of both the original and Unfolded will soon be available to listen to on demand:
Composed by Kenny Young, who's also responsible for the music and sounds of LittleBigPlanet, Astro's Playroom, and more, these OSTs are bright, cheerful, and these days, very nostalgic. Obviously Tearaway and Unfolded share a lot of music in common, but there are some differences, so it's great that both will be coming to the likes of Apple Music, Spotify, and the rest on 24th November, 2023.
Will you be firing up these jolly soundtracks? Do you have fond memories of Tearaway and its music? Tell us in the comments section below.

A Astro's Playroom sized sequel to this would be a great addition to the PS5 library
These games are both great, vita one was such a showcaseπππ
Their best game imo. Proof that sales =/= quality
Gravity Rush and Tearaway are probably my 2 favourite Vita games. So glad we got Unfolded and GR2, hoping for more sequels.
A true gem. It maybe off-topic but I believe this and Puppeteer, if they were published by Nintendo, they would have sold like crazy. Sony just doesn't give a damn to promote these type of games properly. Don't know why they wanted to publish Puppeteer on ps3 at the end of its life cycle, it could've grabbed more attention if released on ps4.
One of my favourite games ever. I noticed it's 10th anniversary but was under no illusion that it'd be acknowledged anywhere lol. Will be streaming
Tearaway was immaculate on Vita, one of its best games. Unfolded was fantastic on PS4, too. Soundtrack should conjure happy memories!
Can it be called a series if it is comprised of only 1 game (and a re-release)? I kid, but only because I would've liked this IP to have had the chance to grow into an actual series.
As it stands my take-away from Tearaway was that is was fun, charming, but not ground breaking. Good but not great. A solid entry that deserved another chance or two in the spot light before being locked away like most of Sony's IPs now...
Cool this is a thing, but uh it's Vita/PS4, it's not a series if it's 1 entry on 2 platforms.
I didn't like it as much as others but it had a lot of creativity no doubt. Just didn't find some aspects of it to be that amazing or engaging.
Didn't hate the finger Vita touchpads those were fun, building with papercraft is fun to do, the camera was fun, just found some tasks or some walking around to be a bit eh or got confused what to do at times.
@2here2there True. Dedicated PS fans that enjoy the big/niche games, Japan Studio titles big and small. If by Nintendo people appreciate them more/different expectations are set. Ratchet/Sackboy 'maybe' for families besides their big fans but most want the other IPs more.
I enjoyed both sides the mature and the cartoony, the creativity of both were great. I don't 'grow out of' cartoony games I appreciated them regardless because they offered a lot of great fun/gameplay ideas/stories/visuals and more.
Sony doesn't market them well so got to go out and look for what the studio makes ourselves usually, sigh.
But then again many PS3 games were end of it's major releases (also PS3 was popular in Japan so late releases may have been fine) before PS4 so that's why PS4 had few 2013-2015 releases besides remasters.
They were still working with the working with the hardware and depending when the PS4 released maybe???
Won't deny sometimes a new console is a fair time to launch some games but either way sales don't happen much for Japan Studio titles the Japanese/sizeable western audience love them but the majority of casuals/only western game caring PS fans hence you can tell by Vita sales the dedicated and the fans of Indies/Japanese games or particular types of creative games then those that couldn't care less.
(not well Persona 2017 or sports or whatever after that).
