RGG Studio's knack for storytelling is legendary at this point, and so we'd actually advise against watching this new video for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. This is an extended, ten-minute story trailer for the upcoming RPG, and while we think it focuses on the early hours of Ichiban's next adventure, this is exactly the kind of narrative that you'll want to experience as fresh as possible when the game comes out.
Having said that, if you want to check in on the English dub, this is your best bet. Unfortunately, we can't really comment on it because playing Like a Dragon in English should be considered a crime, but we're sure it's great. And yes, there's more of Kiryu's new (and rather controversial) voice.

Dare we ask if you're watching this one? Don't blame us for the story beat spoilers in the comments section below.

Count me in. Just starting my Yakuza adventures. Starting from 0 and bought the rest up to 6 so far. Gonna take me a lifetime. I see what you mean by the dubbed voice. Horrific. Is there an option for authentic with subtitles ?
Yeah Im not listening to another word of Yong's portrayal of Kiryu. Lol
Try that English VA at The Hague! Lerrem ‘ave it!
I will be playing with the English dub,🖕
@Discol76 Yep, Japanese voices with English subtitles has always been the standard (except the very first PS2 games, which had an English dub featuring Mark Hamill!).
The series only just recently started providing an optional English dub with Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
A hard pass on Yongyea
> playing Yakuza / Like A Dragon
> you picked dub over subs
Don't be that person.
Sad to see one of the very best japanese games out there with an english dub of this quality for kiryu.....
Total miscast. I hope this doesn't put off too many people from playing it.
I vividly remember trying to watch the funimation english dub for one piece which was so horrifically bad it had me rethinking my life choices. Luckily I ended up watching it with subs, which I hope many will mimick in these games.
The Yakuza games deserve better man 😮💨
On a sidenote I'd pay top dollar to see yakuza members react to the current games, except this time around have them react to yongyea's voice acting.
I'm so excited for this game. I will not be watching the trailer as I'm already sold but if someone wants to play with dubs so be it. Just play the way you want. Sub or Dub its going to be a great game regardless!
@Discol76 I wouldn't recommend playing them back to back. Most of the mini games are recycled and the combat is very similar. You'll get burned out quick.
I have nothing against yongyea. But, this game series started with only japanese voice over and we came to expect a certain sounding Kiryu that delivers a certain gravitas and long lived journey.
I get that Yong wanted to make the character his and give it it's own spin, but i am surprised he himself didn't see the folly of failing to meet fan expectations.
His voice, is the normal voice of a 30yo. It does not contain the weight and struggles of a 50(60?)+yo man. He didn't even try to jump into the skin of the character and deliver a more grave performance. It just sounds like a saturday morning cartoon standard voice. Maybe that is what Sega wanted? I don't know.
I guess for people who can't stand japanese this might be ok, but i will keep to the japanese vo as usual. The english vo just doesn't have the same level in it's delivery.
@Cherip-the-Ripper That would be difficult as telling others you are a Yakuza is now an intimidation crime in japan. They really are trying to get rid of them completely. Which you see reflected in the plot of Yakuza 7 and the series changing name to Like a dragon in the west (which is the original name in japan where they could not call it Yakuza, i'm sure).
Played the last game dubbed, will play the next one dubbed. This argument is old.
@IndoorEnthusiast add my finger to the list. Dub all the way.
@ShogunRok Thanks for that. I'd imagine it totally kills the authenticity using English dubs.
@mvhess Thanks for the heads up. I'll try space it out between other things. Still got No Man's Sky to get started on PSVR2🤣
@Bunchesopuppies It doesn't have to be an argument. We can have a civilised conversation hopefully although that seems difficult nowadays 👍. I'm miles behind everyone in Yakuza so playing catch up here
@Discol76 they are excellent games though as long as you're okay with really long cut scenes. I haven't pulled the trigger on no man's sky yet. I have psvr2 as well. Have you played the game without vr? Is it good?
@mvhess No not yet. I specifically bought it when I got my PSVR2. I'm a bit weird, I like to complete one game before I move onto the next game. But I believe NMS can be played almost endlessly.
