19 Amazing Games Join PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week

This is like a 2nd chance for those that missed all these games on Gamepass 😂

Bad line up. Sony has yet to really justify the price increase.

Disappointed that the Mega Man collection is gated behind Premium but I'm delighted that Tinykin is in Extra, that's been on my wishlist for ages.

Also does anyone know why I already have GTA V on my PS5 even though I have never bought it? Did Sony already give it away before or something?

Shadowrun: Daggerfall was an amazing crossover between Bethesda and Harebrained Schemes. I remember having a great time playing the game as a cyberdecking Khajiit.

My PS+ Premium subscription expires in February and I definitely won't be renewing. All of the games released are either ones I've already bought, ones I've tried and not liked or ones I never want to try.

I never play online so it really annoys me that I need to have a basic subscription for £60 a year just to have cloud saves.

Yet another disappointing month, the highlight for me is Stranger of Paradise but I honestly didn’t like it as much, as for GTA well everyone already owns it but it’s nice to have the PS5 version if you didn’t get it already.

My ps plus ends in January won’t be renewing till probly April or something especially with yakuza persona and ff7 part deux. That will keep me busy all the games that come to plus or extra/premium are games that I already own or have no interest with.

I hope they’re currently working on a better emulation for ps2/ps1/ps3 to make the service better

hilarious. i went and upgraded my PS4 copy of GTA V for £8.99 after last week's trailer. If i hadnt i'd probably be pacified. But I did. The obscurity of this lineup is remarkable. My new TV supports xbox game pass ultimate and im switching my sub to that - there are recognisable, new games on there. Sony isnt even bothering to add its first party games on PS plus any more and the days of AAA properties like Need for Speed and Call for Duty seem long gone. It's a shovelware graveyard.

Can't say I will miss this when mines expires next summer, IMO they are not justifying the price of this at all.

There's two or three good titles, but my question is why did yall put "Amazing" in the title? Like this lineup was going to blow our minds. It's average at best.

I will say this though. If Thrillville Off the Rails is the PS2 version. It looks like that PS2 emulator is up and running. Because that was not part of the PS2 to PS4 program games that ran off the old emulator.

@Americansamurai1 Greed plain and simple. They're still selling PS4 controllers for $59.99 and the PS5 is $74.99 clearly overpriced.

Thrillville being on that list just triggered so many memories as a kid. Will definitely check those out for a quick hit of nostalgia.

@liathach Honestly I’ve had Gamepass Ultimate for 3 years and I barely use it; I haven’t touched my PS+ Premium in forever either. When both subs are up in the spring I’m letting them go.

This game subscription future just isn’t worth it.

That's a lot of things I've been wanting to try but to stingie to buy, this looks like a good set for me.

Amazing Extra collection, at least 5 games I'd like to try...stranger of paradise, moonscars, metal hellsinger, salt & sacrifice, PS5 version of GTA V, Shadowruns....very nice 👌

I renewed my yearly sub on Black Friday as mine lapsed and it only worked out to be £7 a month. But annoyingly, I’m caught on in FFXVI and Resi4 VR, the later I’ll be in forever and the former I still have a second playthrough to do; then I have Gaiden and Infinite Wealth to play too. Months of this yearly sub I’ll basically be wasting….oh well, it’s only a few quid I guess, and maybe I’d have missed a couple of good Essential games if I hadn’t renewed.

Played it on GamePass at launch but don’t miss Tinykin. It’s a fantastic Pikmin type game.

Not much for me this month. Win some and lose some I guess.

Okay, so Thrillville: Off The Rails for PS2 was not available on PS4 before, so this would mean that it's the first new PS2 game they've added in years. This might also mean they have a new emulator ready, or they've at least updated that rickety old one? The one that's been used on the currently existing PS2 Classics has some issues, and several games are broken when played on PS5. I though this might have been a typo in the article, but the PS Blog indeed specifically mentions the PS2 version. Potentially big news if it means we can get better PS2 representation on the modern PSN, which could also make Premium a more compelling option. Weird to start with Thrillville though?

I actually just finished Prodeus a few days ago. That game is really fun. I was looking forward to Stranger of Paradise. I didn't buy it because Soulslike games are too hit or miss with me, but some fine folks on this very site let me know Stranger of Paradise isn't too difficult and has difficulty settings to keep frustration to a minimum.

The sub price/increase is still not justifiable without day one releases period, making it significantly less of a value compared to what game pass is doing.

That being said. This is a decent selection of third party titles. A few titles I've been wanting to to give a go including Stranger, metal hellslinger, prodeus, and , perhaps moonscars and grime too.

I certainly wouldn't call this lineup amazing by any stretch, though there are a few interesting titles in there... fortunately for me, none I'm really interested in playing. I've far too many other games to finish off at the moment.

Extra is really great this month! Mega Man 11, Tinykin, Prodeus, Metal Hellsinger, and Stranger of Paradise are all ones I've been wanting to play so I'll definitely try and make the most of it before my subscription expires next month

Bit strange to have Moonscars and Salt & Sacrifice in the same month as they look fairly similar although I haven't played either so I could be wrong there. In fact Grime could also be added to this list and after watching a review I'm probably more inclined to play this one.

@TrannosaurusBex yah it's really just taking a moment to remember the price of the sub. It's just aggregious in my opinion especially with the increase. So while there are some older third party titles I will definitely play, it's still hard to call it great and I feel I was overzealous. Especially with the shadow run padding.

It's still a decent selection for me personally as there's at least 4 games here I would play but maybe not want to own, making them good for a sub svc.

19 Amazing Games? There 6 on Mega Man collection 1, 4 on Mega Man collection 2.

I think its a decent line up and includes several titles I'll try, so Im happy and most often am. I
I personally think those expecting several day 1 AAA titles for the cost of this sub are very misguided, but everyone has their own set of value judgements.

GTA 5 and FFO "decent at best", Salt and Sacrifice "unknown shovelware"... at this point, guys, many other people reading these comment sections will start counting months until your sub expiry just as vocally as you do.😏

This is actually quite a decent line up compared to the past few line ups. Shadow run returns and the extra dlc is one I'll definitely have a go on. Moto gp 23 is another game I'll play. There are only a few duffers there for me so I'm quite chuffed to be honest.

Maybe it says a lot about me when having to look these games up to see what they're about rather than their quality. It also says a lot that if I've had to look up nearly all these games then there's real chances of me never wanting to buy these games normally in the first place. GTA PS5 is already in library for future backlog. Obviously heard of MegaMan classics before but if I was a huge fan they'd have been purchased years ago already. Never had any intentions of ever playing a BuzzLightyear game, most likely no trophies either. Usually there's plenty of PS Plus Extra games that I've always been 50/50 on and then end up enjoying but no its 99% don't care for these. Still looking up a couple more on this list, so far nothing. Cant please everyone I suppose but genuinely disappointed this time. If there's a few in there for you fairplay enjoy

Shadowrun, Tinykin, Grime (action adventure dark rpg), Proteus. The indie games look a bit more fun than a rehash of GTA or a FF dud.

Now THIS is a heck of a lineup of games. I’ll definitely be downloading at least five on the list, if not more.

Prodeus looks alright. Kinda getting the better played in coop vibes though, so doing it solo might end up really annoying in many parts without coop?

When will Premium add decent classics?
Where tf is Ape Escape 3? Why don't they fix Ape Escape 2? Why don't they add Vib Ribbon? Come on...

Headliner is GTA V, a 10 year old game that most people already own on multiple platforms. Back in September I downgraded to Essential and have not regretted it once. That fact that I'm already 25% through my sub and don't miss Extra or Premium AT ALL says a lot.

1- Yes the price increase is inexcusable.
2- How is this a bad line up? GTA V for ps5, all 3 Shadowrun games, pretty much every mainline mega man game that isnt from the X series, Grime, Metal Hellsinger, Salt and sacrifice. Not only these are all VERY high rated games, they are bangers, they more than justifie getting a subscription.

I honestly dont know what people expect from ps+ anymore. like, I cant even speculate. its a varied line up with quality titles and people are still bitching.
Actually unsubscribe from the service, please, but stop bitching about it, this line up is nothing short than stellar.

Honestly, some folks here forget that this is a niche hobbyist website.

It is a massive get to have GTA V for free, the month that a bunch of casual players will receive their (potentially first) PlayStation console.

That's an instant subscription in sonys pocket for every single hardware purchase I imagine, one that might be renewed every year in perpetuity

yeah, same, wanted to get the ps5 upgrade for gta V but now I dont have to, Also a bunch of games that I was on the lookout for like Metal Hellsinger and the shadowrun games. Might even give stranger of paradise a shot

Almost everybody have GT5, so it's nothing great to have in PS Plus. At least for the majority of the PS Plus gamers !!

The other games have like 6/10 in average score.

So yes, it's a HORRIBLE month !

Not a bad month for me, as there’s at least 5/6 games I’m interested in playing. I still think premium needs to diversify and stop adding groups of games from the same series all at once. But let’s be honest. They could give us Alan Wake 2, Baldurs Gate 3, & Spider-Man 2 all in one month and people would still find a reason to complain about something. I would be interested in seeing users here make a mock list of 15 games they would add to Extra if they had their choice to gauge expectations.

Interesting seeing Mega Man 1-11 here, given Capcom has used PS+ Extra/Premium to help prepare people for new entries in franchises (e.g. last month had Dragon's Dogma and Dragon's Dogma 2 releases in March) maybe Mega Man 12 exists and gets announced in the next Nintendo Direct?

12 games on extra i don't own and will try them all so its a good month for me probably best month for extra for me anyway

Lots of games I’ve had on my watchlist for a long time or ones I missed while they were on Game Pass, so lots to play this month.

19 Amazing games? I wouldn't go that far, there's maybe 1-2 that would come close to being amazing, the rest are mid. For me this month it's just Stranger of Paradise, although I highly recommend Tinykin to anyone who hasn't played it yet.

ive been saying gta for like 5 years lol, I'm suped for Shadowrun, i would litterally subscribe to extra just for one of those games being on here never mind all 3, the only reason i wanted gta on here is the rollers in my ps4 are busted and im too lazy to fix them and i own the physical copy

Not expecting there to be good triple A 3rd party every single month. Having said that there's literally nothing amazing, impressive, excellent, cool, breathtaking, unbelievable, inspiring, super, wonderful, magnificent, terrific, astonishing, marvelous, astounding, incredible, splendid, remarkable, fabulous, stunning, fantastic, formidable, staggering, outstanding or mind blowing about any of these titles

Calling other gamers nitwits for saying this month is bad for themselves doesn't make them a nitwit or entitled. You pay for a subscription service and you'd expect there to be at least 1 game that tickles your fancy out of the approximately 15 games every month but sometimes there simply is not. Venting a little frustration does not equal entitled or a nitwit

@MikeOrator I don't really relate to the every month moan, as I'm quite positive most months per year when theres at least 1 or 2 I want to play per month and I obviously can't speak for other gamers

It's not so much wanting or demanding the games that I think should be on it, more to do with having 1 or 2 games that interest me enough to want to check out every Extra month, this particular month hasn't done that for me personally

A really good never ending backlog genuinely helps when theres a not so good month, rather than saying when my sub ends I'm not renewing mentality. There will always be good and bad months on a personal taste level. We simply dont get to pick and choose what gets picked for subs, the nature of the beast

I make lists, my list to Santa is my favorite and Santa being the nice guy he is always comes through. last year I asked for a car and got one, a 1975 Pinto. I had hinted at newer BMW or a Benz, but hey that old Pinto still runs well.

The most important list to me is the list I want to stay off of. That is Santa's list, and he checks it twice, of those that have been naughty and not nice.

I've never played the GTA series for some reason but I've been planning it for a while now. The two red dead are one of my favorite games so I guess it's time to give this a chance. I almost bought it a month ago, glad I didn't.

I will also try out the final fantasy game. From what I saw on YouTube walkthroughs I doubt I will put tens of hours in it but who knows... I tried a couple of FF installments over the years but so far I only liked FF7 and the most recent FF16.

When I can get games like Persona 5 Tactica, Like A Dragon Gaiden, Persona 3 Reload and Eiyuden Chronicles 100 Heroes on Gamepass day 1 the stuff that PS plus offer just does not stack up. And I don't have to pay for cloud saves. I have never liked that element of owning a playstation.

Another unimpressive selection. Changed back to the standard plus at the beginning of the month and I'm glad I did. The games I like on this list will be cheaper to buy in a sale and keep forever rather than getting half way through a game and it disappearing off the list forcing you to buy it anyway! Not worth the money, Sony seem to be getting worse ☹️

I really don’t understand people who claim extra is good value but premium is not. With premium you get over a hundred PS3 games available to stream, and PS4, and some PS5; you get game demos, movies, and several new retro games each month. It costs £3 more per month. What does £3 actually buy in any shop in this country? To say this is bad value is crazy. Even if they gave one retro game a month for £3, and nothing else, I couldn’t honestly say it was bad value.

As you say,there hasn't been a new "PS2 Classic" added in years! (Assuming its not a PSP misprint on PS Blog). Much like the PS1 Classics thus far though its felt like there's been little interest from the likes of Capcom,Konami,EA,Unisoft etc.

Would love to see stuff like the Maximo games, SSX series,NFS Underground 1,2,GTA LCS/VCS, Ratchet and Clank, GOW 1 & 2,Sly Cooper etc,but still await even the likes Dino Crisis 1 & 2, RE 2 & 3,Alundra, Blood Omen legacy of Kain & more yet.

Surprised to see all the negative reactions. Personally, there are 6-7 games here from my wishlist, which is fantastic.

What people seem to want from the lineup:

-God of War Ragnarok
-Gran Turismo 7
-Spiderman 2
-Baldur's Gate 3
-Alan Wake 2
-Resident Evil 4 Remake
-Armored Core 6
-Jedi Survivor

And even then I'm sure people will go "This is just barely enough to justify plus".

There have been plenty of months where there's not been a Single game that I'm the slightest bit interested in.

This list however I could pick at least 6 that I will definitely be giving a try. They may turn out to be terrible but at least they have my interest to start with
