If you're a fan of intense side-scrolling action and 90s anime-infused visuals, then you'll definitely want to keep an eye on Slave Zero X. Slashing to PS5 next year on the 21st February, this is actually a prequel to the original Slave Zero — remembered as something of a cult hit — which released all the way back in 1999.
The official press releases tells us all we need to know: "A satisfyingly punishing game, Slave Zero X sees players fusing with a sentient death-dealing biosuit to do battle against the violent forces of the tyrannical SovKhan. Featuring multiple gameplay modes and a variety of futuristic 2.5D dystopian urban levels to battle through, players will string together brutal combos and fight through waves of genetically enhanced biopunk opponents — all to the tune of a gnarly synth soundtrack."
What's more, the aforementioned antagonist, SovKhan, will be voiced by two distinguished actors: Jamieson Price in English (Sojiro Sakura in Persona 5, Ovan in .hack//G.U.) and Hidekatsu Shibata in Japanese (Monkey D. Dragon in One Piece, King Bradley in Fullmetal Alchemist, Sarutobi in Naruto).
It's worth noting that Slave Zero X will also have a physical release, which comes with a 'PlayStation-themed Shou skin', a manual with art (remember those?), and a controls reference card.
Meanwhile, the Deluxe Edition comes with all of the above plus comics by 'DC and Marvel veterans', an art book, a dual Slave Zero and Slave Zero X soundtrack, and postcards.
If Slave Zero X plays as good as it looks, action fans will be in for a treat — but is this hardcore hack-and-slasher on your radar? Never stop slicing in the comments section below.

Reminds me of Moonrider a little bit. Definitely curious to see how this one plays, though how unfair for it to release so close to FF7.
I actually remember Slave Zero on Dreamcast. I wondered if it was related when I saw the name, then I saw the game and assumed not, and now know I'm wrong.
Seems like maybe they should port the DC game as well?
Is anyone else tired of seeing PS4 in release headlines, or is it just me?
But, I guess if a game has a Switch port there is no reason not to release on PS4/X1 as well.
No way. The legend Hidekatsu Shibata is back! Instant buy!!!
It's still releasing on a heavy month. Im going to be broke and busy in February
