Not content with aping Animal Crossing in its off-the-wall island building minigame, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will also add a Pokémon-inspired experience to its ever-expanding list of things to do. Sujimon, as its known, will see you collecting eclectic characters from all around Hawaii, and training them to create the ultimate team. Your goal is to dethrone the existing champions of the Sujimon battle world: the Discreet Four and the Sujimon Master.
Confirmation comes courtesy of a press release, as translated by Gematsu. “As you progress through the Sujimon battle storyline, a new job, Sujimancer, will be unlocked,” the announcement explains. “Once you become a Sujimancer, you’ll be able to equip your Sujimon and summon them into actual combat. The stronger your Sujimon are, the more powerful your Sujimancer skills will be.”
Sujimon can be acquired after battle or via an in-game gacha system, although no real-world currency will be involved here. Battles are three-on-three affairs, with each Sujimon having a unique affinity. You’ll need to mix and match these to build the ultimate team. As your Sujimon get stronger, they may even evolve – is any of this sounding familiar yet? One unique feature is that you can take your Sujimon back to the aforementioned Dondoko Island, where they can train and help you make money.
So yeah, remember when SEGA said this is the biggest Yakuza game ever? It really wasn’t messing about!

Itchiban Ketchum from Palette Town. Can't wait to evolve my Street Thug to Family Patriarch.
Sounds good! Hope we get the full Yakuza trophy campaign that requires us to 100% everything. It’ll be an epic platinum.
Sounds good to me! Platinum probably gonna take 600 years but that's fine.
The more I hear about this game the more I wanna actually buy it. Gotta jump into 7 at some point tho
@NathanKang This sounds like it’s improving on 7 in various meaningful ways, but I still had so much fun with 7. Definitely give it a go!
This series is just so wacky! Ah I can't wait to play it next month!
So... Ichiman captures and imprisons people then forces them to fight for his own glory? Sold!
Man, with seemingly this much content, I'll probably wait a year or so to get my backlog near clear again before I jump in.
Gotta catch ’em all! Sujimon!🎶
Man this game just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I still gotta plat Like A Dragon because it was free for a month for PS Plus but I haven't started it yet. Definitely gotta get around to that so I can also get my way to this game as well
This game's gonna be something else😍
I just had such a stupid grin across my face reading all this lol
Like A Dragon really is something else
i think I will spend more than 2 years with this one.
Loved this part of LaD. Thrilled it’s coming back. Now, if only I could understand Go.
My hype builds with every announcement.
This game is going to be insane and I can't wait.
On like a dragon gaiden, there's a quest that's also Pokémon inspired by the quest name, but it's Dragonball inspired. The quest giver has the same name as the dragon from dragonball and you have to find 7 golden balls. If you find them all, you get 1 wish.
@get2sammyb I'm in the camp of i enjoyed 7 for its world and things to do like the rest of the yakuza games but man I really didn't like the combat, I thought I'd come around to it but you just can't beat the chaos of the fights from the games in my opinion.
Shame I just won't play these games anymore apart from I guess the spin of series which still use the better fighting gameplay for me.
At this rate, I am not going to need another game for my commute till like 2025 😅
This game is epic! Day 1.
Finally, Pokemon makes it onto a Sony console. Took them long enough!
And GameFreak can’t even make just a Pokémon game anymore that isn’t a complete riot.
So like the top commenter said it's Pokèmon but this time you're a street thug LOL 😂😂
