Sony’s slashed the price of almost 5,000 PS5 and PS4 games, as it looks to extract as much money from your battered wallets as possible this Christmas. The absolutely enormous holiday sale, which officially ends on 5th January, includes some truly gigantic PS Store discounts – up to 80 per cent off in some instances. Some of the highlights we spotted on a quick casual browse include:
- Alan Wake 2: £39.99/$47.99
- Assassin's Creed Mirage: £31.49/$34.99
- Dead Space: £27.99/$27.99
- Elden Ring: £29.99/$35.99
- Final Fantasy 16: £38.99/$41.99
- Lies of P: £39.99/$47.99
- Live A Live: £23.99/$29.99
- Red Dead Redemption: £31.99/$39.99
- Star Wars Jedi: Survivor: £34.99/$34.99
As we mentioned previously, this is a juggernaut of a sale, with a number of titles enjoying their best ever prices. Unpacking, for instance, is a snip at £7.99/$9.99 – while you can get the Bastille Edition of Steelrising for just £14.49/$14.99, assuming you have an active PS Plus subscription. You can find all the deals through here.
The question, then: is there anything in particular you’re hoping to purchase this holiday? As always, let us know in the comments section below.

I might finally buy Elden Ring…
Makes sense Alan Wake would go on sale this fast. Despite the acclaim it hasn’t been selling a lot. Really think a physical edition would’ve helped out a lot. Yeah most games are bought digitally nowadays but Alan Wake is a moreso niche series with a dedicated fanbase, and if you’re really into it you’d want a physical copy.
A really good number of PSVR2 games going on sale. No Koi Koi yet unfortunately, but lots of other games on my wishlist. Just a shame I’m addicted to Resi 4 VR at the moment, don’t think any other games will get a look in for a while.
Well we're saving £10 on Alan Wake 2 by holding off on getting it bought for Christmas so I'm happy.
Earmarked it as my game for Christmas and was in no rush to get it ready and then this week heard it was in sale in epic game store so thought good chance would be on PSN too.
Shame, none of the indie titles on my wishlist have got discounts...
Well i thought the previous sale, that must have just finished was absolutely crap. Big titles and loads of shovelware. I was hoping to grab a few more from the wish list but alas.
Baldur's Gate got a mini-discount for the first time ever, so I guess I might as well get it now. I'll also buy World of Horror.
I was really expecting a discount on Spider-Man 2, even just a small one. But hey, what can you do...
Yeah! Finally a decent discount on Puzzle Bobble 3D: Vacation Odyssey. Bought it instantly, love Puzzle Bobble!
Might get Alan wake 2 and the Talos Principle 2
Finally star wars survivor is my kinda price!
Seeing Santa brought us covid for xmas, im gonna need more games! 🤣
I just knocked a load of games off my wishlist!
Jedi Survivor for sure.
Possibly Last of Us Part 1 since I think it might be a while before that sees a deeper discount. Eventually want to grab Red Dead 1 but feel like that will be 50% off by Summer which is realistically when I’d get around to it anyway.
Few good choices game that so tempting. I snatch borderland 3 for now.
Baldur's Gate still too expensive, I'll wait some more. I'm poor.
Just a suggestion: Could you include the Euro prices on these posts too?
Scrolling through that there ain't much that grabs my fancy, maybe the DLC for Cyberpunk or AC Mirage, but I've just started BG3 again, and I'm gonna be on that for a while, so those can wait.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is on sale? It hasn’t even released yet in my country 🫤
Would love to pick up BG3 but genuinely don't know when I'd have the time to play it. Have 2 big-ish games lined up to play over the Christmas break as it is. Would like to finish those before starting in to something as hefty as BG3. I think it will be a 2024 game for me at this stage.
I MUST NOT BUY MORE GAMES THAN I PLAY,
I MUST NOT BUY MORE GAMES THAN I PLAY,
I MUST NOT BUY MORE GAMES THAN I PLAY,
I MUST NOT BUY MORE GAMES THAN I ... OOH! Shiny!
Like a reformed addict i've done pretty well this year at not buying games just because they are on sale and actually making a dent into my backlog... but some of these xmas sales are really great and undoing all my hard work. LOL.
I have so many new games already but I'll definitely check this out when I get home from work this evening.

I have little sympathy when they launch Digital only, Epic Store only on PC and announce Story DLC before launch. They made their bed...
Hopefully there will be a complete physical edition next year and it will get a healthy sales bump. I am really looking forward to it, but you have to meet consumers where and how they want to buy.
I think people are missing a key point with Alan Wake 2, that a digital copy at 20% off will make more money for Epic/Remedy than a physical copy at full price. The ability to discount early is probably factored into the all digital route. Official discounting on a physical product is pretty grim when your margins are already terrible but digital only allows a lot of flexibility.
@Titntin So sorry, I hope you feel better soon.
I was so looking forward to seeing my Mom this holiday, but we just found out yesterday she got Covid and can’t travel. Our entire household is so bummed out. Everyone please stay safe out there and take good care of yourselves this holiday.
And: I hope you enjoy some extra gaming time! Lemonade out of lemons…..
Only game I’ve been waiting to buy on sale is GoW Ragnarok which I just missed on a 1 day sale last week. It’s on the shelf at my library if I want to borrow it but I was hoping for a half off sale this Black Friday. Which maybe it had but I missed it?🤷🏻♂️
Edit: Apparently GoW:R is on sale for $30, $49, $50 so I’m thinking about it. Sale seems to last until 1/6 so maybe I’ll see what I get for Christmas first.🎄
Heads up for any shoot em up fans:
Rtype Final 3 evolved
Ray'z Arcade Chronology
Raystorm HD collection.
All the above titles have been on my wishlist for a long time, but they are never discounted.
Todays sale has 30% discounts, so nows the time if you've been waiting!
@Deoxyr1bose A niche game with a dedicated audience is exactly the reason it didn't get a physical release. It's not the kind of game someone randomly picks off the shelf. They'd end up with a ton of unsold product. The fans will buy the digital release regardless.
@ChrisDeku That's fair, but if it was selling gangbusters they would be unlikely to discount it so soon. That's not to say it's failed, I don't think that, but they did set it up for less sales going digital only, epic store only on pc etc.
Thanks for the tip - just picked up both elden ring and sekiro in the sales for less than the price of Spiderman 2!
Just got Divinity: Original Sin 2 to go with my Access controller. Going to buy Like a Dragon after Christmas as well.
@themightyant
I dont believe sales had much to do with non pysical editions myself.
If you've seen the years breakdown for sales, its 95% digital vs 5% physical. Admittedly, this is across all platforms but its clear that a digital only game is not a barrier to sales.
Worth looking at this, theres lots of interesting figures:
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/gamesindustrybiz-presents-the-year-in-number-2023
@Westernwolf4 Thank you dude! If only my head wasnt so 'muddy' with fever, I might clear some backlog! Happy xmas to you and yours!
@Titntin Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. And best wishes for a quick recovery so you can get back to the important stuff: Gaming (and family and friends)!
And still most games will be cheaper physical, and I can resell when done, and a corp can't just pull the rug at any moment.
@Titntin Look at the console market it is 83% / 17% on that link.
But that is VERY deceptive for a few reasons. e.g.
1) This is based on total REVENUE not units sold. It must also includes DLC etc because Sony's own supplemental documentation (page 9) had the digital download ratio of actual full games on PS4 & PS5 at 67% / 33% for FY2023. i.e. A third of all games bought on Playstation were physical this year.
2) But that doesn't take into account that many games ONLY release digitally which artificially skews the numbers in Digital's favour.
3) It also doesn't take into account the second hand or game sharing market, it ONLY takes into account revenue.
When you take ALL this into account physical is doing MUCH better than that GamesIndusry.biz article, and many naysayers, suggest.
Steelrising is a great game. I don’t understand all the hype for Lies of P, but this game was forgotten.
@themightyant You make a compelling argument, as always.
Though we are talking a new releases sales, so its a bit of reach to use the 2nd hand market as way to swell apparent physical consumption😊 But I'd have to conceed 33% is definitely higher than the 5% I quoted with qualifications...
@Titntin That's fair, though the game sharing market is a complex thing, it isn't as simple as a lost sale in all cases. It can be the thing that makes someone buy the game or buy DLC, or become a fan of the genre or studio. And both it and the second hand market can lead to more mindshare, which leads indirectly to other sales.
But I'm probably being biased over AW2. I didn't buy it because I refuse to pay full price for a digital copy of a game. And I don't like story DLC coming later. So despite being a big Remedy fan decided to wait.
Anyway I really just wanted to point out physical is in much better health than most people think/assume/are constantly told! lol
@get2sammyb Two things.
Near the beginning of the article it says “PS Blog” highlighted in blue but it brings me back to the PS front page.
“ The absolutely enormous holiday sale, which officially ends on 5th January, includes some truly gigantic PS Store discounts – up to 80 per cent off in some instances. “
https://www.pushsquare.com/tags/ps-store
The link at the end of the article brings me to the Sony store but only has 10 items, mostly for MLB The Show. That could just be me.🤷🏻♂️
“ You can find all the deals through here. “
So basically I can’t find the sale. 🤪
In the sale, I noticed the DLC for Mutant Football League (PS4) indicates it works with PSVR. The base game, however, doesn’t say anything about PSVR. Can anyone confirm if this add-on stuff really does make Mutant Football League PSVR compatible?
Bought The Pathless and Immortals Fenyx Rising (already played and loved on switch, want to platinum on PS5).
£5.99 for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. I'll certainly bite for that price!
I need a sale on some atelier games I'm still missing a few
Will possibly pick up Rogue Legacy 2 but dont think i will be spending much given my backlog.
I guess i might get cars 3 for my son given he's currently big into lightning mqueen, and its only 3 pounds. I'll have a look through the full list though.
Got the Tomb Raider prequel (I think it is) series for $18 U.S.
In which galaxy are those prices a sale??!
@Camlambelot Haha thanks! Looking forward to the challenge
Is a joke.the prices are a joke. Thats why xbox is best on sales. I have both consoles but this is ridiculous sony. Always like EA
@IronMike i agree with you my dear friend
