Sony has updated the Last Chance to Play section of the PS Plus Extra tab on PS5, revealing what games will be leaving the service in January. Nine titles will be banished, with the biggest losses being Devil May Cry 5 and It Takes Two. The full list looks like this:
- It Takes Two (PS5, PS4)
- SnowRunner (PS5, PS4)
- Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition (PS5)
- Devil May Cry 5 (PS4)
- Jett: The Far Shore (PS5, PS4)
- Omno (PS4)
- Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Ultimate Edition (PS4)
- The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories (PS4)
- Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae (PS4)
Since you have got just under a month to play any of these PS5, PS4 games, completing whatever's remaining on your wishlist should still be possible. Pillars of Eternity II is the longest title on the list, but the others are generally less than 20 hours long. Is there anything here you still need to play? Let us know in the comments below.

Well, I'm not going to be completing PoE 2 anytime soon.
There is your justification for increasing the ps+ price. 9 games at once! Oh hang on, they are removing those games...
PS plus seems to get worse and worse, despite the price hike. Go figure...
This is why all digital, games as a service sucks, and why I will never sign up for this tier.
Lol 9 great games. Mostly sub 7s. It takes two and dmc5 are the only worth while titles on here. Even then, who doesn't own these games already?
I’m surprised there’s not a small plug for JJ Macfield in the article. It’s a relatively small game, easy to blast through in a weekend or so. I recommend giving this one a crack for anyone that would like something different with a heartfelt story. It’s a Swery game, so be aware of that, but it’s also the Swery game that is least janky. Some would say it’s his best game. For me, I did prefer D4, but still really enjoyed this one.
Is Jett worth a go? Only game id lose from my library
@NotSoCryptic you've obviously not played pillars of eternity? That's at least a 9
Damn I gotta get on playing DMC5 I guess
I played and enjoyed the first Pillars of eternity on Plus. It took me a couple of tries to latch on to it and remain hooked.
With Pillars of Eternity II I couldn't get very far and I don't why. It is one of my favorite genres and I would have liked to try to get back into it again.
Also, I wonder if there's any replay value to the first one... hmm.
Shame about it takes two.
Dawg wtf, why increase the prices? Surely people are playing them!
@QualityGeezer ok 3? Do you feel better now? Does that improve things that there are 6 games no one cares about. 3 you should already own in your library (which I do, I really haven't gotten around to it, but that also says something about these games on the list).
@NotSoCryptic much better thanks, can sleep easily tonight lol
Means I really need to finish off Omno when I next play it on my dad's ps4.
Damn dmc5 and pillars of eternity is a hurtful loss
@QualityGeezer well so long as you're sleeping better, I can sleep better. Sorry about the snoring.
I have a fleeting interest in several of those. But it’s ok, I guess. I know these games can’t stay on there forever.
Wasn't Snowrunner recently added?? Come onnn.
@NotSoCryptic the Mrs does enough of that mate so your alright lol
Not sure why people are commenting on the price increase to this. The terms of these deals would have been arranged when they were put on the service, which was long before any price increases. No doubt they’ll be added in again at some point in the future. Apart from It Takes Two these have all been on here a long time I think. Also, we are slowly getting new stuff in terms of PS5 game streaming and the film and crunchyroll content being added. The rest I just take as inflation. Its not like Sony aren’t having to pay more like everyone else, just the electricity bill for all the servers alone must have skyrocketed.
Not that I wouldn’t like cheaper or better stuff like everyone else of course. You know, evil capitalism etc etc etc.
I can't believe this... And yet I just had the feeling this month would take away games I want to play. I currently have Devil May Cry 5 installed but yet to start it. Same happened with The Quarry and Deathloop. I was also intending to continue through the Yakuza games. I wanted to play Far Cry 5, and Shadow of Mordor/War... And this is all in the last 3 months... I feel like someone is reading my mind for which games I actually want to play and getting rid of them all, replacing them with sh*te.
@CVCubbington this is why tacking this service on to force people to pay to play online sucks too
Hopefully some decent replacements
So only six months for Snowrunner, that's a bit poor imo.
It Takes Two and DMC 5 are like, better than the past 3 months of extra/premium games combined. It’s insane how much I don’t want to renew my subscription. I’ll just grind out the remaining PS+ games I’ve wanted to play in the next couple months.
@Danloaded No. it has an open world, but the controls suck and while it’s atmospheric, things just drag along with little explanation. Not much of an exploration game so much as a try, try, again to figure out things. Like tossing a seed at plants and rocks.
"DMC games are less than 20 hours long"
Unless you get stuck on a lategame fight for hours like I did in DMC1?😅
@Danloaded I got the Platinum for Jett twice. Atmospheric and unique game bogged down by a few poor design decisions. I suggest you try it regardless for its unique qualities, it's not that long of a story.
This is why I'm glad I bought the entire Devil May Cry franchise when all the games were on sale a while back.
Dam had omni and jett on my list to plat. Guess I'm going to have to focus on them now and rush to get the plats before they're removed. Got it takes two with EA play, so not so bad. Though finding someone to play through it with is harder than I thought it would be.
All you "gamers" complaining about games leaving the service. That's what all streaming services experience. Any media not owned by the company owning the service will leave. Same with Netflix, Amazon, GamePass, etc. Games come and go on a rotation.
If they are installed on to your SSD and or your library than you should still be able to play it just not purchase it after it’s off the ps extra catalog correct?
Me and my daughter loved playing It takes two together.
Damnit just started pillars of eternity 2. Great game so far underrated.
@T-Bone09 No dont think so.
@T-Bone09 I think sometimes you can keep playing a game after it drops from the service for a short time (like an extra week or two) if it’s downloaded and you disconnect your console from the internet before it expires from the service.
@Pranwell I've finished probably 10 games on PS Plus Extra in the last 2 years and never had them yanked while playing them. It's tremendous value even when games come and go.
What is wrong with all of the entitled gamers on the comment section. It just boggles the mind that people expect games to stay on these services for forever. There are literally hundreds games, many great games, that you can play and have ample amount of time to finish. I pay both physical and play digital. New games I don't want to wait to play on a sub I'll buy at launch and resell when I'm done. Eventually they'll make their way to a sub if I want to play whatever DLC might be released at a later date. Games I don't need to play right away, I just let them come to a subscription and I test it out then. It's the best of both worlds and it keeps my gaming habits low cost. It's so strange to me when people complain endlessly. Games are cheap if you buy them right, and subs can have a place in any gamer's life and contribute a boatload of value.
No comment, pay more for less.
Omno and The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories are really good games.
I can recommend Omno, not too long and you can do platinum quite easily, also the game very enjoyable. I will re-play before it's leaving. If you miss it, the sales price about 5-8 $ in store when discounted.
I've been meaning to play DmC 5 for quite a while and found myself checking all the time whether or not it's still part of ps+ extra. Guess I'll have to try to beat it now before it's too late. Worse case scenario, I'll buy it at some point, since it's such a great game.
@kcarnes9051 people tend to focus on what they don't or can't have. For example they complain about DLC and microtransactions, when in reality they could focus on the main game which can be excellent.
Extra offers insane value, but I get that a lot of people are trying to see an increase in quality or sheer content that would justify the price hike.
I personally have no problem with games leaving the service. What I really dislike is:
1. The way they give the info about games leaving the service. One month is not enough imo. Sony needs to be more upfront, so that gamers can plan their gaming time accordingly.
2. The fact that the plus service seems to be getting worse. For the past months mediocre or just bad games enter the service and at the same time, good games are leaving. I see no balance here.
Completing them is possible? LOL. Completing just the base of Snowrunner is easily 100 hours if you make barely any mistakes.
@T-Bone09 nope afraid not. It still appears in your library but has a padlock symbol meaning you are required to purchase it to continue playing.
@Northern_munkey
Reason why I asked was because the monthly games that I played stayed.. like my daughter and I play HotWheels Unleashed together and it’s stayed as long as I had it on my library. They should allow you to keep it if you had it installed instead of taking it away since your paying for that feature anyways..
I suppose people being upset that digital rental games are not given to you permanently is going to be an eternal feature of the internet. Sigh. Take your time travel machine to 1995, rent 10 games for a month, see what that costs you, double the dollars. JFC.
Snowrunner.. A truly fantastic simulation. Cannot wait for Expeditions!!
@Barryburton97 I can vouch for this, and I made plenty of mistakes… hence my 200+ hour playtime for the platinum 😁
Platinum for Snowrunner takes over 100 hours, but it's worth it, great game!
I agree with somebody else who doesn't understand the price hike complaints in regards to this. These games would have gotten removed regardless of the price hike. That's just how these subscription services work. Some games stay on there for a long time, but a lot stay on for at most a year. More money doesn't equal longer contracts.
I haven't played it, but judging by the review on here, it should be easy to second @somnambulance about The Missing. It's supposed to only be about 6 hours long, so it should be easy to squeeze in for people who aren't knee deep in something else right now.
@Thanatos13
Wouldn't really be a problem if you bought the games you liked or is that just way too much to ask? A lot of the titles are free indefinitely and the ones that aren't are on PS+ long enough to either complete them or decide you like them enough to buy. If you're not buying games then why do you own a console?
@CynicalGamer94 I mostly use it as a small table to do wood carving on.
This is why we should not be happy Xbox is struggling with sales.
Sony knows they have such a massive lead that they can increase price and offer less because they know you are not going anywhere.
@kcarnes9051 How can it be entitlement when people are paying for it?
@Mythologue You're paying for a subscription to a service in which media comes and goes just like any other media subscription. The expectation that games will forever stay on the service is an unrealistic one. It is entitlement to think that just because you subscribe to a service that the exact same content will always and forever be on that service when it's expressing outlined in the terms of service that games will come and go. Acting aghast when games leave the service is ridiculous when it's plainly known that that the service is in constant flux and that that is inherent to the service. Acting as if you deserve something when you've agreed to certain terms upon signing up for a service is exactly entitlement.
@kcarnes9051 This is the same as how publishers can technically revoke a license to use a product which has been paid for, in full, by the consumer. Something which is already happening, and has happened prior. That's not entitlement, to assume that you get to use the thing that you spent money on. Arguments to the contrary are fiercely anti-consumer.
@Mythologue It is not the same. At all. A subscription service is not the same as buying a product and a license to use it. You must know this difference. You're being ignorant. It is not the same as when a company pulls a piece of media you've purchased outright. A subscription does not confer ownership or grant permission to access the exact same content in perpetuity.
9 great games 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ok
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy That's what I thought too! I know it was recently added as I was in between houses and that's the game that I started playing as it got added at that time. That was in September... So only 4 months. Which sucks cause I am building a sim rig (mainly for GT7), but wanted to play SnowRunner with my son.
I guess I could buy it heh
Me personally I've never had a issue with getting to play the games I wanted to beat with ps plus extra! That's me being 41 years old working a 12 hour shift job with wife and kids. I beat devil may cry the month it was added to extra witch was way back. If I'm not mistaking it's been on their 5 months or over and if you can't get around to beat a game and want to complain about the service witch is more then fair and can't find time in a 5 month spand. Then you are wasting your money on time you don't have. That's not sonys fault that's the customers fault for buying somthing that don't have time to commit too! Even when I buy games from the store I prioritize and play the games off of extra before playing what I permintly own.
Ps plus extra is 27p a day, 27p, on what planet is that not incredible value?
There isn’t a single other item available for 27p that gives anywhere close to as much entertainment
I cannot believe people actually type PS plus isn’t good value, yeah you right it’s not “good value” it’s exceptional value, just stop already you looking like a fool lol
