Square Enix has published a new trailer designed to give you a quick story recap of Final Fantasy VII Remake ahead of its PS5 sequel Rebirth releasing on 29th February 2024. Clocking in at just over three minutes long, it is obviously not going to provide an exhaustive explanation of every story beat in the RPG, but as a quick catch-up, it works well. Check the trailer out above.
If you'd rather play through the roughly 30-hour story yourself, then you firstly need to get a move on because Rebirth is only a month away now, but the neat thing is pre-ordering the PS5 sequel nets you a free digital copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Just choose the right version on the PS Store and you'll get both games for the same price, and it includes the Yuffie DLC.
Will this story recap serve you well, or are you already caught up on past events? Let us know in the comments below.

"Get caught up in three minutes"
40+ hours of work summed up in an e-mail. 🤣
Actually, I am going through it for the first time. It never clicked with me after trying it two times, but tried it again after completing the FF16 DLC and it finally clicked! Starting Chapter 15, so I guess not long to go now. Should be ready for Rebirth just in time!
I'm currently and finally finishing it off, I stopped on Chapter 13 years ago for some reason but now on chapter 17 and loving it and should finish it soon
I’m glad you highlighted the option to order a twin pack which has Remake Intergrade included. You get it for free, but you have to select the correct version at checkout.
Ok this one I don't mind watching. However when Square releases their launch trailer aka let's spoil the entire game trailer for Rebirth, I'll be in the corner with my eyes closed and fingers in my ears going lalalalalala.
By Christ, I’ve just been going through my game collection on PS5 all the uncharted series is there.
Do I so need an uncharted 5 made just made for the PS5.
Can’t believe we haven’t had a mention of one at all. And maybe can’t believe we won’t get one for PS5.
Nah, I’ll replay Remake a couple of weeks before Rebirth.
As someone who double platinumed the game, I know it like the back of my hand! But still nice for those who need a refresher!
@Casco I think there are 17 chapters so you’re almost done!
@Damage99 stopped after getting to 16 this evening. Guess I’ll finish it this weekend.
Rebirth is going to be f'ing awesome. FFVII Remake and Final Fantasy XVI are my two favorite games in the Final Fantasy franchise and that is saying A LOT!
With my backlog and reasonably short attention span i vary rarely manage to complete a game but i went through remake on ps4 and then ps5 so im very much looking forward to the 2nd part. Ive even booked a couple of days off work for it. Its going to be a blast. On the othet hand ive got Like a dragon IW turning up today and started LAD the other night and dont like it lol.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I really liked where they took the narrative... something 'new' and almost seems to be like FF7 NG+ approach to story telling. The original will always exist, and I don't think the adapted/sequel narrative takes away from that.
I thought this was a pretty decent 40hr game.... but with padding/bloat removed it could have been an amazing 20hr game. Combat is great though, arguably best that FF has ever been IMO
Worst thing for new players to watch. This is just like Nomura saying it's okay to start at rebirth. Absolutely not!
I on the other hand will probably replay it and do the same when the 3rd part is about to come out.
3 minutes is about right when you remove all the filler and rubbish
Rebirth is my most anticipated game this year by a long shot. Might have to give Remake another play through before it’s released. Gonna be hard playing through the dim areas of Midgar after seeing the open green fields in Rebirth.
