Annapurna Interactive has delayed the release of its upcoming road trip adventure game, Open Roads. Just over a month ago, a release date of 22nd February 2024 was announced, but that's no longer the case; the game will instead launch on 28th March.
In a statement to Engadget, Annapurna said the decision was made to "ensure the most polished experience for players". It's a delay of just over one month, but as always, the extra time should make for a better end product.
Open Roads tells the tale of a mother and daughter as they drive around the country, searching for answers to their family's secrets. It was announced all the way back in 2020, but is now nearly ready for prime time, albeit with a small extra delay.
It's possible the revised date is also to avoid clashing with the many major titles heading our way in February. The likes of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Helldivers 2, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and even notable indies like Pacific Drive will mean smaller releases will struggle for air. Whether intentional or not, the new date means Open Roads may have a better chance to stand out.
Anyway, are you excited for this one? Are you planning on playing Open Roads when it comes to PS5 and PS4 in March? Tell us in the comments section below.

Might be smarter to delay it to April or May, a lot of heavy hitters in the next couple months.
Delayed games are eventually good but a game released at the same time as Rebirth would definitely be ignored.
At the very least, it was smart to move it out of February. Hopefully it turns out to be good in the end.

I love these kinda games as much as the (good) AAA ones so I'm glad it moved out of the way a little bit to get a chance. I will buy it for sure but right now my calendar already marked with Banishers and FFVII.
