Chris and Jason Kingsley, founders of Rebellion Developments, the Oxford-based studio behind series like Sniper Elite and Zombie Army, have both been awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), included in the King's New Year Honours list for their services to the economy.
The brothers have been advocates and fixtures of the UK games industry, opening the studio three decades ago, in 1992. Rebellion is also active in the comic scene as the publisher of the 2000 AD IP, the universe in which Judge Dredd operates. The CBE is awarded to individuals who play "a prominent but lesser role at national level, or a leading role at regional level. You can also get one for a distinguished, innovative contribution to any area."
Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley said of the award: "I hope such a British success story will be reflected in many more honours being awarded to our diverse and talented games industry leaders. Having said all that, I shall also buy myself a new sword to celebrate."

They deserve it for Strange Brigade alone, what a gem of a game 😮💨

I like the sniper elite games and I really enjoy the odd round of zombie army 4 but I do wish they would bring out a judge dredd game. With the power these new consoles have an open world mega city one and surrounding cursed earth is easily achievable surely?
Great dev team and any reward for that is fully justified imho.
Great news and well done, Sniper Elite & Zombie Army are good but Strange Brigade is where it's at!
As commented above it is good to see game developers getting recognised for their contributions to gaming!
Wow. That's quite the honor! Congrats to them. I'm sure they didn't expect an award like that when they got into the industry.
Congrats well deserved, but they have to fix invincible walls on SE 5 that game is up there with mgs and Splintercell, awaiting for SE 6, love SE series, but 5 is the best amongst all
@PegasusActual93 I'm not sold on that idea. Terminator was a bit meh and robocop turned out to be pretty good. Rebellion hold all the great characters such as strontium dog, dredd, nemesis the warlock and the ABC warriors. Rebellion did a pretty good rogue trooper game and they also did a reasonable dredd game back on the original xbox. How's about a bad company game in the style of sniper elite...ooh what it's like to revisit your youth..
