Expect the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown to look smooth as butter on PS5, as the game will support full 4K resolution at a blistering 120 frames-per-second on Sony’s new-gen console. Ubisoft confirmed the tidbit in a specifications blog post, where it also confirmed the PS4 Pro version will offer 60fps gameplay in 4K while the bog-standard PS4 edition will achieve 60fps in 1080p.
It’s worth remembering that if you’re looking to take advantage of 120fps gameplay, then you’ll need a television capable of outputting the lightning-fast refresh rate. You can find more information, along with a full list of All PS5 Games Running at 120fps through the link. We’ll have a review of Ubisoft’s latest side-scroller in the near-future, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

There are not that many detailed textures to be really admired in "full" 4k, are there? I mean, it does look like Rayman at best
Whenever I hear PS4 I get disinterested.
Game design is held back. Good luck, though.
@Mad001 What's this "The Message" then?
@EfYI Its 2.5D action game i can't imagine the PS4 is holding it back.
@Mad001 Not sure this is going to be your thing. I heard a rumour that halfway through the prince changes gender and his sword is actually a black female in disguise. Damn lefty’s get their filthy “let’s make the world a better place” paws into everything…am I right brother?
Great news as this game is looking soo good. Its nice PS4 Pro fans get to experience in 4K 60fps, I imagine the machine fans will be blowing a gale 💨
It's weird the S is 1440p at 60fps while the PS4 Pro & Xbox One X are 4k at 60fps.
@Luigia In a strange turn of events, over Christmas and New Year, our PS4 Pro CUH-7216 has remained quiet despite heavy use and yet I heard the PS5 fans kick up while playing PS4 Divinity 2 on the 1216 fat boi! In fact, I've noticed a few PS4 games where the fatty fans kick up - only a notch but audible nonetheless.
@MrMagic the S is truly a weird console. I think it might have the same image quality and texture settings as the Series X, just at a lower resolution but everyone would rather have 4k 60fps than 1440p
Cool beans. I was interested in the game anyway, but this is a nice bonus now that I have a TV that supports the higher frame rates.
@sanderson72 I've still never heard my PS5 fan, meanwhile my PS4 fan is on the minute I start any game
@Professor_Niggle Yeah it makes perfect sense that it has a lower a resolution than the Series X but the old Xbox One X is running this game at 4k 60fps as well.
Honestly, im looking forward to this! And I just plunged on a new Samsung S95C TV after saving all year, so im very excited to try out 120fps etc
@Professor_Niggle Yes, but given the difference in age, I suspect the 4's thermal paste is starting to get a bit past its sell by date?
Biggest difference we found in ours, which we had done mid-last year, was having one of the new generation Nidec fans put in at the same time we had new thermal paste. Pro is eerily quiet now, even on things that used to make it take off.
@MrMagic the One X is likely running it at lower settings (textures, foliage, etc) but at a 4k resolution. The Series S is running it at similar settings but lower resolution as Series X. That's how many cross-gen releases have been. Making the Series S a very pointless console as the One X already serves that lower end purpose
@sanderson72 ah so you put the PS5's fans into the PS4, I read your initial comment wrong. That's really interesting, guess Sony cheaped out on the fans for last gen
@Professor_Niggle Don't think they're the same as the PS5's fans (although there seems to be some concern as to which fan you get in your PS5 as to how loud it can get - cheaper components, no doubt!)
This is the one that we replaced our original Pro one with:

There's a video further down in the reviews that convinced us to try it and it's definitely worked!
@Mad001 "The message" thats so funny, please keep commenting.
@sanderson72 should come in handy if I decide to use my PS4 again, thank you!
@MrMagic that's because the Series S can't render at 4k, only upscale and output, whereas the PS4 Pro, etc, have 4k render modes.
@EchoRange well critical drinker coined it lol
@DennisReynolds critical drinker on YouTube he teaches us all.

@GeeEssEff
…aaaand he didn’t even get it! 🤦♂️ haha
Only an idiot believes anything Ubisoft says 🤣
@Mad001 Being a fan of that raging far right bigot nut really says a lot about you.
@DennisReynolds na just more common sense than anything else. Far right nope I don't see them that way.
@Mad001 Let me guess you also watch Nerdrotic as well?
@Mad001 Ah yeah, but Critical Drinker is human garbage whose wife left him.
Now I'm kinda pissed that I've already preordered it for Switch.
@DennisReynolds Friday night tights with the motley crüe intro and movies from my childhood in the intro fun show , call me chato was on one he was to funny and the Christmas one had a Christmas song in it. The guitarist was awesome 👍
@EchoRange madness. Hey that twin peaks the icon you have?
@Mad001 OK... but what does any of that have to do with Prince of Persia? I don't mean to be mean, but you'd do well to stay off the internet for a while. The likes of Critical Drinker, Nerdtronic, and their ilk, drum up outrage - where most people with a working brain don't care - for clicks.
Let's just focus on the gameplay of this.. y'know... game. Which looks rad. And to get back on topic, 120fps is great news; more games (that aren't total graphic hogs) should aim to achieve this!
@JB_Whiting I just find their stuff good craic their round my age group that's all , as for the game just want a good game. As for res I'm no fussed I played Atari and zxspectrum games on a crt TV . Long as it plays well and a good plot Il be happy have a good one 👍
@sanderson72 that’s a mystery that needs investigating. Who you gonna call 👻
Great news. This made me wishlist the game.
Cheers.
@MattBoothDev Series S can definitely output 4K, but the GPU isn't strong enough to run most games with it. So while Series S has far more powerful CPU than One X (not to mention SSD which helps), it also has less powerful GPU and less memory (10 GB vs 12 GB).
@KoopaTheGamer yep, exactly. It can only render at 1440p, max but can upscale the image to 4k if that's your output.
And yeah, the Series S has some really poor RAM choices. Both the Xboxes have a weird configuration, but the Series S is severely limited in bandwidth with the small bus size on the largest portion.
I've pulled this from Wikipedia:
Series X: 10 GB/320-bit & 6 GB/192-bit (16 GB total)
Series S: 8 GB/128-bit & 2 GB/32-bit (10 GB total)
It may be GDDR6 and around 230GB/s but it's still not enough. The smallest portion of the RAM setup is even worse, 2GB at 56GB/s, which is basically DDR3 1600MHz speeds.
@sanderson72 Never heard it once I only hear the diskdrive which stops after the game is started up.
@MattBoothDev There are some native 4K games on it too, although not many. Not to mention video content which can also be rendered at 4K.
@KoopaTheGamer they aren't rendering at 4k, though, just outputting. The Series S is hard limited to 1440p internal resolution. It will upscale the rendered image to 4k if you are using a 4k output device. With video content, there's no rendering, just outputting at 4k. The images are already 4k.
There are no native 4k rendered games on the Series S.
Edit:
Here's what the Xbox support page says, under the drop-down entitled "What's the difference between Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S?". I've added the relevant part in bold.
>Both consoles deliver next-generation capabilities powered by the Xbox Velocity Architecture, such as faster loading, the ability to seamlessly switch between multiple games with Quick Resume, richer and more dynamic worlds, and frame rates up to 120 FPS.
The primary difference between the two consoles is that the Xbox Series X displays games at native 4K, comes equipped with a UHD Blu-ray Disc player and 1 TB of custom SSD storage. Xbox Series S is designed for disc-free gaming at 1440p (with the ability to upmarket to 4K), with a customised SSD. And, of course, they're priced differently. Both consoles have the option to expand available customised storage via the Storage Expansion Card.>
