Until Dawn, the PS4 horror classic from Supermassive Games that's set to be turned into a movie, will reportedly also be getting new versions for PS5 and PC. The suggestion comes from Billbil-kun, a reliable PS Plus leaker who claimed only yesterday that Death Stranding 2 will sport the subtitle On the Beach. The leaker claims the new versions of Until Dawn will be announced within the next two weeks, just like the Kojima Productions sequel.
The report out of Dealabs doesn't state whether this will be a simple remaster of the PS4 title or a full remake, but given the game is supposedly coming to newer platforms, we're likely at least looking at a graphical upgrade. This is only a rumour for now, but it would make sense for Sony to have updated versions of Until Dawn ready to tie in with its movie adaptation, which is being led by Shazam! director David F. Sandberg.
Speculation surrounding a potential State of Play livestream has been swirling for a few weeks now, with suggestions one could take place as soon as next week. With PS5 titles like Helldivers 2 and Rise of the Ronin on the way alongside third-party games such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, another marketing push for Sony's upcoming slate makes sense.
Would you be interesting in an updated version of Until Dawn? Survive the night in the comments below.

I won't be buying this, but I don't mind an Until Dawn remaster, especially if it makes the game run at 60fps. I'd be happy if they remastered even more recent PS4 titles like The Last Guardian and Concrete Genie so we get 60fps.
I will be buying this.
Remasters, remasters everywhere... Sigh...
It was just a prank, Liam!
This is one of the few games I was able to play along side with my wife and we really enjoyed this. Don't know if a replay with better graphics will drive us to play it again though. We already know the ending and I think the twist can really only be experienced once.
@Tomato_Goose
Cause games get a pc version then it needs a ps5 version cause if not playstation users will cry about that.
How come people still cant understand that.
I just picked up the original before Christmas for €5.00. I'll hold off and wait for the PS5 version.
Been watching Nath and Dave play it on an old PS Access stream this week in work. It looks like a good laugh.
Incredible game. I am a Supermassive fan. I am disappointed Sony and Supermassive's partnership didn't last longer or blossom into something more.
I loved Until Dawn and j guess if they're remastering for pc, they may as well make a ps5 version while they're at it. What on earth is the point of a film of what is essentially an interactive movie? Who's that even for?
@Neverwild yep, imagine getting all those visual boosts like new textures, more particles and slightly revamped lighting for free if you own the original version of the game... Oh, no, in this case people won't buy our exactly the same game the second time for the full price!
But as stated in the text, we still need to see the overall quality of the final product to judge. Whether it s a remaster / remake / whatever else.
Fantastic game! Would probably do another on PS5 if true! 😂
For the person that said about 60fps. They already updated this when ps5 first came out,the ps4 game now runs at 60 fps for a few years now. This is 100% a 10 dollar/euro upgrade for existing owners. This would be highway robbery like the last of us 1 remake otherwise.
@RBMango until dawn already runs at 60fps on ps5
Nah im good.the ps4 until dawn still looks amazing.why not remasters bloodborne.or give us a sly cooper trilogy remastered or resistance trilogy remastered.word up son
@Tomato_Goose
Why should we get things for free?
Gamers this days are so spoiled.
I literally asked for this the other day in another thread! I would definitely buy a newer version if there was added content. I think I paid £5 brand new for the PS4 original.
It would kind of make sense for it to release on Xbox as well considering all of their recent, non-vr games have. Unless Sony have the rights.
I wonder if it will be renamed to be part of the Dark Pictures series.
Next remake Rush of Blood for PSVR2 please!
@hulkie @trev666 I wasn't aware the PS5 boosted it to 60fps already. I've only played Until Dawn once back when it first launched on the PS4.
@__jamiie Until Dawn was published by Sony the first time around. The only way this will be on Xbox is if they don't publish it again.
Really good game, and has aged very well
So it looks like if a game is on PS4 and the franchise it's a part of gets a movie or TV show, there'll be a PS5/PC remaster. The rumoured HZD remaster comes with the Horizon TV show, a GoW (2018) remaster comes with the GoW TV show, a Gravity Rush remaster comes with the Gravity Rush movie, etc.
I wish Sony would make use of their PS1-3 gold mine instead of games that are already on PS5 via backwards compatibility though if you must focus on PS4, at least do Bloodborne.
@__jamiie Until Dawn is owned by Sony in totality, they registered the trademarks for the title.
Nice
I look forward to this. I really like their games even though the devil in me was a poorly animated but of jank compared to the rest.....I still enjoyed it and loved the quarry
Not interested and it doesn't need a remaster.
Now Until Dawn Rush of Blood needs a remaster for PSVR2, not to mentioned that even the current version (PSVR1) has issues on PS5.
@get2sammyb yes! Some games just deserve a good replay when it gets an update. For example, I platinum’d The Witcher 3 four times in PS4. Then did so a 5th time after the PS5 update. When I get around to it there will be a 6th lol.
Until Dawn doesn't really need a PS5 version but when you port to PC might as well make one and get some extra money
@ChrisDeku Okay. Well it would be a nice gesture from Sony to make it available on other platforms.
I have nothing against remastered, i have just bough Tlou 2 for 10€ but man, i hope the next SoP shows something new
That's all Sony got this generation, remasters, remasters and more remasters and not free for those who already bought them before, when companies like CDPR gave their Witcher 3 remaster for free.
when will they come out with new games? This is slowly becoming a big joke. Almost every PS4 game gets a PS5 version. And that's fine, as long as new titles are released that hard-core PlayStation fans haven't played yet.
Did Sony forget that the ps5 is ps4 backwards compatible? I'm cool with a pc version however.
@RBMango I may play it if 'free' or a £10 upgrade for folks who have the PS4 version
I don't mind these remasters or upgrades to make older PS4 games up to date with 60 FPS , but I won't be getting it. I only played it like few years ago, but I actually really enjoyed the game. Have zero value imo for me, as I am not interested in replying it, but for new purchasers it would be a good way to experience it.
Just not for a full price game... Yes, the 10 dollar upgrade for most of the cases is justified but that also is debatable on title to title basis. Imagine having to pay money on pc every time you want to bump a resolution in settings to run it smooth on a new rig...
Bloodborne remake to bring it with today's standards would meet much bigger interest.
I'm just hoping they'll add the pre-order DLC that was never available at any other time. It really didn't add anything to the story, but it has alway irked me that I never got in on the preorder.
with firesprite rumored to be working on a horror game , a until dawn sequel or game thats like it would be more then welcomed.
@TommyNL Helldivers 2 literally comes out in a few weeks
@Tameshiyaku If they did a PC version with offering a proper improved one on PS5 I'd be pretty annoyed.
Bloody loved this game in all of its cheesy glory.
SIE are getting really lazy.
This better not be a prank, Han. If it is, someone’s going to have to understand the palm of Emily’s hand. Boom. Butterfly Effect. 🦋
the gen of the remasters and remakes.....
How about remastering PS2-PS3 games instead?
Oh yeah, that would take some actual effort to make, instead of just rendering a PS4 game at a higher res...
@Casco
Yeah, we're half way through this generation, and it still feels like it hasn't started, with most of the first party games, being remasters/remakes or cross-gen...
Probably gonna continue like this, during the PS6 gen as well.
Sure, a fresh coat of paint could make it look even better than it already does, but there comes a time when enough is enough with remasters and such. This was a great game, but I still have my PS4 disc. How about more new games than a semi-steady barrage remasters for this gen?
Ps plus game that I think I played. Had chap who played Freddie Mercury in it. Quite good fun.
@Fyz306903 To be fair, the game did feel like a movie more than a game. I think the story kind of got off the rails after the first half of the game. And let's not forget it had Rami Malek and Hayden Penittiere (or how it's spelled). So they were going for the movie atmosphere in the game.
This is the first time Sony has released a port of a 2015 game on pc (the last of us was a remake and this is likely a remaster). What's funny is they're still ignoring bloodborne (also came out in 2015).
It's become a hobby of mine to seeing twitter pc gamers seethe every single time Sony releases their older non-bloodborne games. It's hilarious and almost feels like they're doing it deliberately since it's so strange considering how popular fromsoft is on pc. There are entire twiiter accounts dedicatd to 'bloodborne pc' I urge everyone to see them to have a laugh.
It doesn’t need a remaster, honestly. I loved it and I’ve bought all the studio’s games, but I’m not interested in this remaster trend anymore, personally. Is Sony going to slowly remaster all the first party PS4 games for PS5 this generation? No wonder why devs are getting laid off if this constant recycling of content is so significantly gaming’s future
I swear my Steamdeck is becoming a glorified PS5 portable...
The game already hit the right notes with accessibility options, aside from graphics, there’s not much to change. Still liked the werewolf story better.
good game but a port is completely unnecessary and a waste of resources. add a ps5 patch for the ps4 version and people will be happy. just another example of banking on old games due to the unsustainability of game development in 2024. remasters hold value for games pre-ps4 era and nothing else really. they need to buck this trend.
@rollinggamer
Yeah but doesn't the fact that it's more an 'interactive movie' game than a 'game' game make a regular movie of it even more pointless? TBH, I've never understood VG movies and I've never found one worth watching. Unless they tell a new story, I don't see the point. If they make a prequel or sequel movie to until dawn, that could be interesting.
Makes you realize how poor the state of current gen is when they're "remastering" even less popular games like this.
@Fyz306903 Sure, for us gamers that would make more sense. Make a new story instead of just making a movie of the game we have already played. I think they are trying to reach audiences who have not heard of or played these games. Whether it is Uncharted, The Last of Us, or Until Dawn, the stories of these games are good already. Now they just gotta make a 20 hour game fit into a 2 hour runtime, haha. The Last of Us went the TV path to be able to tell the story better, but to be honest, the 2 games have barely enough story for 2-3 seasons. A lot of fillers.
It really feels like, Sony forgot that the PS5 are backcompatible with PS4 games. 😂
I liked the game but didn't love it. Wont be buying or paying for an upgrade. Will probably play it on PS+ though
@get2sammyb @LiamCroft well something is definitely going on as its now unavailable for purchase on the Playstation store
I don't think I have ever read about anyone asking for this yet here it is and you think how many other games people have begged to receive the remaster/remake treatment has fallen on deaf ears.
Some people are happy with a 60fps patch but no, we can't have that because Sony can't charge you for it (they would if they could).
Time to join the PCMR I think.
