Bloodborne PS4

A Bloodborne remake, remaster, or even just a re-release has been at the top of many FromSoftware fans' wishlists for years now, but as more time passes and other titles receive such treatment over the PS4 classic, hope might be starting to fade. Sony owns the IP so FromSoftware has no real control over what happens with it, but as part of a rare interview opportunity with Hidetaka Miyazaki, Eurogamer posed the question of a Bloodborne remake to the game's own creator.

"It is a title we hold very dear and just as much as our fans. It does make me very happy to see that there are still so many people passionate about it," he said. Miyazaki believes that "new hardware is definitely a part of what gives these remakes value", and that things like being able to render specific expressions "sometimes makes it possible" when it wasn't before on an older console. The outlet alludes to how the remake of Demon's Souls waited two generations before the new version released as a PS5 launch title, so the case could be the same for Bloodborne.

"However, I wouldn't say that's the be all and end all," he adds. "I think purely from a user perspective, modern hardware also allows more players to appreciate all the games. And so, it ends up being a simple reason, but as a fellow player, I think that accessibility is important. I think that can be the driving force between bringing an old game to a new platform."

No matter whether it remains forever as a PS4 exclusive or is re-released in the future, Miyazaki looks back fondly on Bloodborne and is pleased it still has a fanbase. "Put simply, it makes me very happy to see it's a title with a lot of specific memories, both for me and the staff who worked on it."
