Patch 6 for Baldur's Gate 3 is set to hit PS5 this week, and developer Larian Studios has outlined the update's key features. To be clear, this patch doesn't include any kind of big gameplay addition or overhaul, but it does implement a bunch of highly requested improvements and fixes — the sort of stuff that'll make the game better than ever.
We don't have the full patch notes yet, but here's a quick list based on what Larian has revealed:
- Improved romance animations (kisses)
- New idle animations in camp
- New Legendary actions in Honour Mode
- You can now dismiss party members by simply talking with the character you want to add
- Shield Bash and Rebuke of the Mighty have been fixed
- Automatically triggered dialogue will now try to prioritise your avatar as the main speaker
- Loads of bug fixes
The update will apparently weigh in at around 21GB on PS5, so you'll need to make sure you've got the space on your system. Once the patch notes are out (we assume within the next couple of days), we'll be sure to cover them.
Are you happy to see these improvements make the cut? No longer worry about your party members stealing your dialogue in the comments section below.

I'm wondering when we're getting a physical version update. I'm wave 1 when do they ship. They said q1. That's a month and half left with no word. I guess Larian isn't the messiah like social media says.
I’m glad we’re still getting improvements. I wonder when they’ll do an overhaul that will require new saves because it’s so extensive.
The automatic dialogue one in particular got super annoying. Nothing like the 8 charisma cleric getting dialouge instead of my rogue built to be a face.
@GiliusThunderdome They boasted about 17000 (variations) on the ending and then the game didn’t even ship with an ending. They never were. This has been the most successful con at shipping a blatantly unfinished game I’ve ever seen.
¿Big improvements and fixes?, but it was already the best game of the year by far for some people.
I played this until I ventured underground and got quite far and then just stopped. Since then, I have just been playing VR2+ CD Project Red-games whilst this masterpiece just adds on patches and eventually a DLC.
It is crazy how much value that is crammed into these RPGs.

Finally yes! How many times I needed this!
Every time I read about a new Baldur's Gate 3, I am reminded that I still didn't buy the game but still wondering if the game can be even more polished by the time I finally decide to go for it.
Larian’s dedication to their games and respect they have for their fans is truly astonishing.
More devs having even a sliver of this mindset would make gaming objectively better.
@Jaz007 What are you talking about? Ofcourse it had an ending. Did you finish the game?
They just polished some characters and added an ending summary screen like for example dragon age.
The ending didnt change at all.
@species Yes, I finished the game. The control ending was a 30 second cutscene that was obviously added in as an afterthought. The other “good” ending was nothing but “hey you defeated the BBG and nothing you did beforehand actually matters or affects anything”. All of the party members didn’t even have a single line and certain companion quests just didn’t finish.
They later patched an epilogue for one of the endings, but it still left companion questlines unfinished(just a hastily thrown in so I did stuff), the other ending which was hyped for half the game was still a 30 second cutscene.
The epilogue is still oddly empty in some ways too, it also contradicted some of the tiny romance resolution scenes (which constructed what came before) because the ending lost all sense of basic planning.
Some of games most hyped moments never happen or have any consequence.
It technically had an ending, but it was obvious that it was almost all cut from the game and only an incomplete sliver remained.
@extragood Historically the studio redoes act 3 of their games entirely since they ship complete and worse off than the first two, and act 3 in BG3 needs it as well, so I think if you wait a year or so a “definitive edition” that redoes act will show up. No guarantee, but look up what happened with D:OS one and two.
@GiliusThunderdome lol. If I were them I’d definitely give you an update. We will get it to you when we are ready. Not when you are ready.
Got a lot of other stuff to finish before I can even think about BG3, but seems to be a good choice for me. Hopefully they'll be done with the game in 2,3 years when I get to it xD
@Jaz007 Damn that sucks that you felt that way. I guess its fair enough.
The ending was pretty good for me, finished the game twice. Didnt finish my third playthrough.
I mean, you do have a point, but its nowhere near Mass effect bad.
@GiliusThunderdome Hey! The head of the publisher wrote on Twitter, the 1st wave shipping will be in mid-March. And it comes with patch 5.
@Andruil nice! I haven't checked in a few days I guess I missed that. Thanks for letting me know. I've been looking forward to this one.
