Helldivers 2 has been, and continues to be, immensely popular, and it's been the victim of this early success ever since launch. Developer Arrowhead Studios has been putting out fires everywhere, trying to increase server capacity and fix early problems to accommodate the huge demand from eager players. Now, weeks after release, it seems the co-op shooter has finally reached a stable point.
With the game now able to host up to 800,000 concurrent players, queues to get into the action are now very short or non-existent. While there's still work to be done to ensure server-side issues are minimised, the studio is now moving onto fixing issues with the game itself and cracking on with its post-launch plans.
CEO and game director Josef Pilestedt commented on social media about the state of Helldivers 2, praising the team for its hard work to get everything working:
Now that the online side of things is where it needs to be, Pilestedt says the developer now finally has time to "focus on improvements to the title and resume our original plan". He teases that there are "many exciting things upcoming".

@Frmknst Their argument was correct, PVP brings toxic people.
Iām hoping that we will have tanks and mechs added like in the first game
This is great to see. The hype almost has consumed me but holding firm for now.
Another thing - we're getting (more or less) duplicate articles now?

@BusyOlf Mechs are coming, soldier. 100% Hold that line! Go back to spreading managed democracy!
@Atreus97 don't wait too long cadet! As a Helldivers vet, I can tell you that there are unrepeatable moments that will pass you by. The supply lines are stable now, no interruptions in soldiers' deployment over the weekend! Join the fight and spread freedom and managed democracy today!
Not without problems.
I had few cough ups, when I couldnt connect to lobbies for lets say 30 -45 minutes. But its much better then at the beginning. So they solved, that all players can connect to servers and run the game, but not that sometimes, you cant connect to any lobby.
On the other hand, game is really great! There are almost non existent MTXs and grind is very fluent and rewarding.
I grinded for Liberator Penetrator (it has medium armor penetration), but was little bit disappointed and found, that rail gun is much better for armored enemies.
Or, do you have some different opinion on Libeartor Penetrator?
@fybyfyby Same here buddy, I got the Liberator Penetrator this weekend after saving my medals for it, like you I was bitterly disappointed with it, mainly because it has no full auto.
I'm now saving for the Breaker Spray & Pay as this looks like a lot of fun.
Glad they got things stabilized, that had to be an immensely stressful time for them.
Can't wait to see what they have planned for it. The game freaking rules as is, and thinking about what they could add is exciting.
Also, the "eradicate automatons" are quick and easy for xp and money, even solo on suicidal difficulty. An Orbital laser and a mortar sentry or two and it's gg š
@Mostik Same here. That will be beast!
No problems with matchmaking at all.
I, and most of my friends dont normally play multiplayer, but we are all playing and enjoying this.
I got my wife started on it today, we have two ps5s and two tellies in the front room, so we can multiplay together and its a blast. We were trying a level that was too hard for us, and we were failing miserably, when an old friend Id not seen for a while jumped in and pretty much soloed the level. Hes level 20 and it was nice to see someone who knows how to play!
Forgive my waffle, Im pretty wrecked and Im enjoying this game like a child š
@Mostik Liberator P has the potential to be good but its damage output is so pathetic.
Helldivers 2 is great and haven't had as much fun since the early days of Destiny. Please do add me for hooking up for bug bashing - HotstuffFred
Is the Major Order progress broken btw?
"the studio is now moving onto fixing issues with the game itself" does this mean they'll remove the nprotect gameguard which shouldn't be in any game and mandatory psn account which shouldn't be a thing for a game purchased on steam.
I got it the other day as a bit of an impulse buy for some co-op action in the lead up to Dragon's Dogma 2 next month... I like some of the game mechanics but my concern is that if the game's core concept is just to drop you into bleak landscapes and complete samey objectives while fighting off the hordes over and over again, it's not my hold my attention for very long š
I've already noticed that levelling up your ship and Stratagem arsenal is a slooow process due to the small amount of samples and credits you earn per mission, and the overall presentation seems a bit limited in terms of what you can actually do within the game, whether it's on your ship or on the ground... the Battle Pass and the armor sets aren't super exciting to look at either, so while the co-op gameplay is both tense and fun, the budget price of the game seems to reflect the overall depth of the content...
