Well this is a rare sight indeed. The latest sales charts for Japan are in, and for the first time in a long while, the software rankings are dominated by PlayStation titles. Persona 3 Reload enters at number one on PS5, and number three on PS4, while another new release, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, takes second on PS5, and fifth on PS4. Needless to say, it's been a big week for Sony's systems.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is also hanging around a little further down the charts having launched near the end of January. Meanwhile, the PS5 itself didn't top hardware — missing out by just a few thousand sales — but it did still shift around 34,000 units, which is decent.

What a time to be a fan of Japanese games!
Now where’s my new NieR game….?
Makes you wonder if we will even see Switch 2 this year, with the current console still going gangbusters.
I honestly find it crazy its still topping the charts after all this time and has sold over 139million units.
Its also good to see some PS software in the charts like the article mentions, competition is king
Gee I wonder why 🤔
An amazing looking game like Granblue Fantasy getting less than 50k first week in Japan is a absolute crime. Glad it gets more love in the west. Really wonder what happened. JRPGs used to pull some serious numbers in Japan. Now it feels like only switch games have a shot.
Well this is a....switch.
....
I'll show myself out.
Well-deserved success! I am interested in Granblue Fantasy Relink. I am not even looking at Persona 3 Reload until a couple of years from now when they release the gussied up version they claim they have no plans to release. The shenanigans with Persona 5 was enough of that for me.
P3 Reload and Granblue Relink are both amazing. But damn, Square shadow dropping FF7 Rebirth demo will take most of my weekends. Might take a while for me to get back to those two games
@naruball Across PS4 and PS5 it sold 70k and that's just physical copies, this doesn't include digital sales which may make up the bulk of the sales especially as you got 3 day early access if you bought it digitally. Also released on PC which is quite a popular platform on Japan.
@Sakai current prevailing rumor is that we'll finally see the Next Gen Switch in March
A lot of PS4 players still out there!
@Ashina Yeah! I'm not mentally ready for Rebirth 😅 but SE dont care! So much great games/Demos/Betas this week and not enough hours.
Good to see Granblue Fantasy: Relink up there. Finished its campaign the other day. Surprising good and with quite a bit of depth. There seems to be an ample amount of endgame content, too. Even the performance, on PC(!), was rock solid.
@UltimateOtaku91 all good points. Completely forgot about digital for some reason.
Relink is really good, so I'm glad it on the top 10 sales.
