You know that League of Legends fighting game that's been in development for what seems like an age? It was previously known as Project L, but now it has an official title and a vague 2025 release window. It's named 2XKO (honestly, we might prefer Project L), and it's coming to PS5.
The two-on-two brawler has always looked very promising — especially with juggernaut League of Legends developer Riot Games backing it — and it continues to show a lot of potential. The plan is to roll out in-person demos at select events and what sounds like beta tests throughout 2024, before the game's full launch next year.

That’s a garbage name. Because it’s pronounced like an acronym, it doesn’t take any less effort to pronounce than a longer name like Street Fighter 6. Language wise, 2XKO simply doesn’t roll off the tongue and sounds like it’s trying way too hard to be cool. I get they want to denote it’s a tag fighter, but then just name it Double Knockout, which flows great. It’s like if a company tried to make a seriously supportive and competitive looter shooter called Loot N Shoot: EXTREME.
@Deoxyr1bose I do think there's a good chance people will just call this 'Double KO'. I agree that '2XKO' is pretty awkward as a name.
This has a lot going for it considering the people involved in it like the Cannon brothers who are fighting game royalty at this point.
I suspect it'll be F2P too considering most Riot games are.
As long as it has most of the Arcane cast in then I'll be happy.
@ShogunRok Good shout, been wondering what's the best way to pronounce that and only got as far as things sounding like "Twix-co" or "Tuco".
But "Double KO" or even just "Double" or "Doubles" seems more likely, especially given the nature of the game.
Why name it something so bad? League of Legends? Great name. Arcane? Great. 2XKO? Stupid.
@ShogunRok It is Double KO from this day forward. That is what I will call it lol.
The visuals seem worse to me now in comparison to the first times I saw this game. I need to go back and watch some old footage.
EDIT: Yeah the old had a different artstyle. Preferences I guess.
Awesome, excited to play this. League's characters are some of the best in the gaming industry (too bad the base game is so rage inducing and time consuming) and I'm excited to play with them in a different way. But by God what is that AWFUL name. Who in their right mind made this decision lol
I have been following this game for a little while as I'm interested in how it looks. Maybe it's pronounced, "2 K.O." kinda like T.K.O. but with a silent X ala anime shows like, Hunter X Hunter or Spy X Family?
@alexcaste85 The head of development on Twitter stated that it’s pronounced how it’s spelled, but he wants to see how everyone else reacts and pronounces it.
the League or Riot account thought of "League Fighting Game", as in LFG. Which is way better than this name.
Thats quite the L name...😑 I will just be calling it League of Fighters or LoL Fighter myself.
@AdamNovice : Yep, it was already confirmed to be F2P like two years ago.

Two times KO.
Two times champion approves this.
Don't like the name but the game looks awesome.
