The Last of Us HBO

Pedro Pascal might have had one too many Dark 'n' Stormy's before 2024's SAG awards, where the actor secured the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Joel Miller in the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us. Somewhat sloshed, the Joel actor took to the stage, declaring: "This is wrong for a number of reasons. I'm a little drunk. I thought I could get drunk. Thank you, HBO. Geez Louise, I'm making a fool of myself, but thank you so much for this."

Pascal was up against a triple threat of Succession actors in Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Matthew MacFadyen, as well as The Morning Show's Billy Crudup. He beat them all out for the award and, appearing to forget who he'd just beaten out, said:

"I've been in the union since 1999, so this is an incredible f—king honour. We're on Netflix," Pascal added, referring to the streaming platform's stance on censorship. "I'm gonna have a panic attack, and I'm gonna leave." Pascal thanked showrunner Craig Mazin, Naughty Dog head honcho Neill Druckmann, colleagues, and production staff for their contributions.

What do you think of Pedro Pascal's unorthodox acceptance speech? Is it all part of the act, or did the actor get too exuberant before the show? Let us know in the comments section below.
