We were fortunate enough to receive remasters of a trio of classic LucasArts point-and-click adventures on PS4, and it's now looking like they're being ported to PS5 too. Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, and Day of the Tentacle are all playable on Sony's previous console (and technically PS5 as well), but it seems the current-gen system will soon have native versions of its own.
All three remasters have been listed for PS5 on the Taiwan ratings board, as spotted by Gematsu:
As always, ratings for games are surefire signs that a release or an announcement is imminent. We expect the trio will be confirmed for PS5 in the near future.
Will you play these classic games again — or for the first time — on PS5? Let us know in the comments section below.

I absolutely love these games and have them on PS4 but I can’t really see what a native PS5 version would do. Maybe native 4K? Not sure that’s really needed with these style of games.
@Angelus3K They'd make money, what more needs to be said? Hopefully they'll be free PS5 apps for those of us that bought them on PS4. I'd happily run through them again for some more trophies and the nostalgia.
I should play Grim Fandango one of these days (technically I did but never finished it). Love the other games even if Full Throttle is a bit on the short and simple side for the genre.
I am curious to see how these will be better than the PS4 versions.
These games don't seem like that would benefit much from a native version.
Curse of Monkey Island, please. That's the one I want.
Maniac Mansion and Zak McKraken releases, you cowards! Come on!
Seriously though, the other games have been available on modern consoles for a long time. I like them a lot, buuuut… these two are definitive experiences that I want to revisit on modern hardware. It’s time to put the hamster in the microwave one more time.
@Vil Yeah good call - loved CMI. I suspect this one is far harder to do due to all the hand drawn animation in there - far more elaborate than previous games. But if they're doing it for the Broken Sword games then maybe it's possible for this...?!
Sign me up for the other ones - DOTT in particular is one of my all time favourites.
I have all three of these on PS4 and they’re all classics – especially Day of the Tentacle for me. But what I really want on PS5 is the Special Edition of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. Now that would be particularly cool.
@The_Pixel_King it is 'sort' of available, you can stream the PS3 version if you've got ps+ premium.
Grim Fandango is one of my favorites of all time. Hope the Monkey Island remakes on PS3 gets ported over. Those were so well done, and now just stranded on the old hardware.
I would love for them to get around to remastering Indiana Jones and the fate of atlantis
@Angelus3K Probably not much, but who knows how far backwards compatibility could be customised into a PS6 regardinf PS4 games go? One always hopes there is,but likewise never take it for granted as a feature.🤔 The irony with these three were they were done by Double Fine when they were independent, assuming they haven't done these versions.
@The_Pixel_King Yes,been a great shame t h e Monkey Island Special editions never got a PS4/5 updated port...at least the PC requirements aren't anything extreme if you want to get it off GOG Store.
Best news I've heard all day!
To echo a few who already beat me to it — if they could pleeeease re-release the Monkey Island series (or at the very least, the first two) on modern consoles, that would make my week.
For those wanting Monkey Island 1+2 on modern consoles, get a Series X or S while MS are still making devices. Both available from the online store still and fully playable via backwards compatibility!
Oh yes please, would love to play Full Throttle again, have Day Of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango on PS4 but would be more than happy to play them again, Lucasarts games take me back to my childhood
Grim Fandango is amazing. It’s also really hard.
Back on the day (late 80s, early /mid 90s) adventure games was all I played. I miss that kind of titles. Luckily there are some retro-like releases nowadays, like the ones from Wadgeteye.
Just want to know if they are free for current owners.
It's amazing that these three titles got a remaster, and interesting that they're gonna be on PS5, but I'm hoping that they eventually do a Sam and Max Hit the Road remaster at some point. With the Telltale remasters, I don't think that's too crazy of an idea. Then again, I am crazy.
Grim and tentacle both are really awesome, it was hard for me to get to it at first, but I'm happy that I sticked with them
Yes kids Lucas film actually made great stuff ignore today's weak effort , Lucas film will be under new management soon 😂
