Building on reports that Bethesda's RPG Starfield will be given a PS5 version at some point later this year, a new article from The Verge claims Microsoft is also "considering" making Indiana Jones and the Great Circle available on the Sony system. The game will supposedly only have a "short period of exclusivity", with the initial Xbox release "tentatively targeting" December 2024.
According to the report, there's "an intense debate internally at Microsoft over which Xbox games to bring to rival consoles", with plans not yet finalised. Along with Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Starfield, the Indiana Jones game — which features the likeness of Harrison Ford — could be playable on PS5 before the year's end. Further speculation suggests Microsoft may announce its mult-platform plans in the coming weeks or months, and Hi-Fi Rush is apparently first up, with an official announcement "in the coming weeks".
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as of right now, has been confirmed for an Xbox Series X|S and PC release, and features a mixture of first and third-person gameplay. Would you want to play it on PS5? Let us know in the comments below.

Cool, I play Xbox games on Steam so them coming to PS5 and having a physical copy is a very attractive proposition
I wouldn't be surprised if they only got a timed exclusive contract from the IP owners anyway, same goes for the blade game as well.
Man, MS has to make an announcement about these plans this week, they can't keep letting these rumors fester for weeks or months, just rip the band-aid off at this point. I get they're probably waiting to announce HI-FI Rush at the Nintendo Direct but surely they can at the very least talk about their new multi-platform strategy.
Heads will explode if this turns out to be true.
@jFug:
The stomachs man, think about so many stomachs that will suffer with this news.
I think we're going to all Microsoft games come across which I kinda hope happens.... although I prefer playstations exclusives I always get Xbox towards end of gen to play games I've missed that were exclusive to Xbox. No fanboy console wars here just like games in general so this huge news for me.
Disney being relaxed about the exclusivity in that recent interview would certainly start to make more sense. Hopefully means Blade would come across too
BIG if true. In the end, players are the winner
If this turns out to be the case, well… I honestly think this may backfire on them with existing Xbox customers. They may as well get ready for more people to abandon them as a platform. I know plenty of people that buy games on their Series X because they want to support an Xbox ecosystem, even if they are primarily playing on other platforms. I can see all of them selling their Series X after this news, unless PlayStation takes the same route, which is doubtful.
For me, I personally do like Xbox as a platform, so I think I’ll be in with them unless Fable flops. But I’d probably reconsider having Gamepass subbed for years on end if this ends up being the case and might go back to month by month subbing. Almost thought Palworld pumped blood into the Xbox ecosystem (even as a third party early access title).
This is wiiiiild
Starting to look like the Activision acquisition was an exit strategy for Xbox hardware. Either an intentional strategy from the start or a side effect of the past 2 years.
I would be VERY excited for this if the gsme was fully in 3rd person. I have mo interesting in playing Indiana Jones in first person.
@somnambulance you might want to keep the GP sub up because it's like they will eventually bring GP to other platforms.
As good as this is, I do worry that Xbox will leave the console race, leaving just Sony and Nintendo.
So basically just Nintendo.
@3Above I can’t help but wonder if perhaps these releases may be consolations from the ABK deal. Otherwise, it’s a potentially baffling decision to simply release their titles elsewhere. I could see them slow trickled with an eventual announcement that games like Starfield are coming to Playstation*
*on Gamepass
So timed or just advertising more for Xbox makes sense.
How much will it confuse people though I bet these trailers will like with many or people will wait for the PS5 version which is fair.
Or just use Gamepass of course.
It actually makes sense for me. Keep it on gamepass in their platform. Release later at full price in the other. Their subscribers still get it included in the platform and in day 1 while others pay full price
What the heck is happening?
@carlos82 love you avatar ❤️👍🏻 Come quietly or there will be trouble 😀
@somnambulance that's a good point, 1 year timed Xbox exclusivity to appease the FTC.
Another possibility is they hope to recoup the cost of the AKB purchase with game sales and just 2 full priced games equal the cost of 1 year of GP right? So selling on other platforms makes them money quicker. Thing is it also decimates your fanbase so 🤷🏾♂️
I have both consoles so I don’t really care, but more choice is always better for players. Things that are good for players make me happy.
I don’t think this says much for Xbox confidence in their own ecosystem, but that is hardly news. And like I said: I just want people to have access to games.
@Leechmonger_DeS Phil will come out and say it isn’t happening just to shut everyone up, then it will happen a few months later and he’ll just say the plans changed.
I already guessed Blade when it was announced with the way the Disney exec talked and even though I have a series x the ps5 is my main console so I would love to play hi fi rush again there and the Indiana Jones game.
I genuinely am not interested when the dev said it's being created for a modern audience
@jFug going to be pure chaos on twitter if/when they announce they're going multiplatform
@HotGoomba yeah really think this will be the last Xbox console. They will be just a service and third party. I could still see them making controllers though.
I am very interested in playing this game. Like others have said, the first person viewpoint is a turn-off for this type of game. But I like the IP enough to keep an open mind.
I’m also very interested in the logic behind a port of this and/or Starfield. My theory: Starfield was their big shot to grow their ecosystem and sell GP subscriptions. HiFi Rush wasn’t expected to move the needle very much. Redfall wasn’t really either. But all the eggs were in the basket for Starfield. The only game that has as large a mass appeal would be Elder Scrolls, and maybe this Indiana Jones game. But if Starfield couldn’t sell subscriptions, presumably nothing can. So they have to recoup money somehow. They can’t keep making big AAA expensive games and not make money. And they’ve trained their players to not buy games. So it makes sense this might be a move of desperation to sell on PlayStation
Meh I'll have a new Wolfenstein on PS5 instead
If this turns out to be true, it'll end being pretty humiliating, Especially for Phil, who turned stolen exclusives into his big d*ck power move.
I don't wish that humiliation on him, but he does deserve it.
I mean, to be fair it's win/win/win. Xbox exclusives aren't moving the needle or driving console sales like they would want, and its not like they are fully exclusive because of PC anyway, but I feel like a game like Starfield or Indiana Jones would sell into the millions on PS, and the initial full price sales boost is just bonus money for everyone involved.
I'd be surprised if Bethesda hadn't been driving this behind the scenes themselves, a Starfield second coming with big updates could change the narrative on everything, like when Cyberpunk finally got itself together. I don't think the exclusivity has been good for Bethesda as a publisher or developer. And the two games mentioned are Bethesda Developed/published
They need their ESVI budget, damnit 😅
Xbox just really need to make a statement at this point. What is the money their loyal fans pay actually going towards? Will there be new Xbox hardware and a raft of exclusive games? Or will Xbox, as a brand, become platform agnostic moving forward?
I really hope it's the former because the last thing we need is a one horse console race. I know that Nintendo outsells them both very easily, but Sony have demonstrated their worst attributes when they've felt they have no competition in the high end, home console market. Let alone having no competition at all in the high end console market.
@Enuo Puerile and childish comment.
I'd definitely pick it up at some point if true
If it comes on ps5 that would be incredible.we will see.word up son
It’s all rumor and speculation at this point. I personally don’t think it’s happening but time will tell.
Definitely Down for Indy despite preferring it was third person.
As far as Starfield goes, xbots can keep that garbage though.
Personally, this game does not interest me. But this is good news that it could now be available to a lot more players who are interested in it.
@__jamiie Xbox the console will simply go the way of the Surface: it's just dedicated gaming hardware - nothing more, nothing less. The draw will be that you can have Game Pass on Microsoft's machine (and free Cloud saves) as I don't see either Sony or Nintendo allowing it on their consoles.
Microsoft will essentially be a third-party publisher that also happens to provide a gaming console.
This article needs the music from the Uncharted title screen playing in the background.
Did we witness the end of Xbox today? Big news.
And now that Xbox leaker Shpechal Nick is saying Hellblade 2 is coming to PlayStation as well. 😁
If this is all true, then I’m not sure how microsoft will continue operating Xbox hardware. Gamepass is its point of difference, but numbers seem to have stagnated somewhat and without exclusive titles, why would anyone that doesn’t already have gamepass be interested in an Xbox over a PlayStation?
The big hitters - call of duty and the game formally known as fifa aren’t on gamepass, so there’s no reason for the casual demographic to buy an Xbox. The hardcore value software and it sounds like PlayStation will have everything available on Xbox in addition to the quality of all their first party offerings.
Whoever green lit this at Microsoft either doesn’t understand the implications for their hardware division and services offerings. Or, they’ve somehow negotiated a form of gamepass on both PlayStation and switch, and are intentionally looking to phase out hardware production like sega.
Either way, a console market without Microsoft leaves Sony free to price their hardware and services as they see fit and innovate if and when they want. I wonder if Sony would continue to release software on pc without Microsoft? I guess we could find out soon.
Considering the VERY short list of Hit Exclusive Xbox titles it comes across like a short term cash grab with long term effects. It has the potential to destroy the Xbox brand. Completely.
Considering the most recent Indy film bombed and the one previous to that being just ridiculously stupid I would imagine they’re probably panicking about how many people are going to be interested in playing it. The fact it’s Machine Games doing another nazi shooting game has put me right off the idea.
TBH the only xbox game I want to play is Grounded, Machine are great devs tho.
I would gladly pick this up day one if it came to Playstation.
All i want is new Dishonored on PS
This game will be great, and it should definitely come to PlayStation.
I feel sorry for those who see this as a problem or will feel bad about it. MS didn't get so rich leaving so much money on the table.
Good news Microsoft should throw in the towel on Xbox. And just give the games to Sony & Nintendo.
So Microsoft are going the way of sega? Let's hope not as a console choice is important as the software we get.
@3Above Yeah, these days, that’s exactly the thing you do if you want your fanbase to panic and it explains exactly why Xbox struggles compared to PlayStation in some areas. Most people I know that play Xbox do have a slight difference in the styles of games they play though, so who knows how this’ll land?
So that is 3 titles. Hi-Fi Rush, Indiana Jones and Starfield
I wasnt gonna buy an Xbox. So Microsoft will make £0 from me currently.
However if true, I will buy all 3 games, and Microsoft will have £210 they would never have gotten without this change in strategy.
good for business surely.
While I'd definitely buy this if it came out on PlayStation (love Machine Games, enjoy Indy) I'm not wild about the idea of MS dropping out of the console market completely. SONY haven't exactly been treating their players amazingly recently and less competition won't give them the incentive to improve...
I didn't like the look of the game when it was revealed, I won't buy it IF it comes to PS5
Not bothered if it happens , genuinely nothing exclusive to Xbox interests me.
