Microsoft will not release Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5 – yet. Xbox boss Phil Spencer stressed these two titles are not part of the four unnamed outings it’s officially bringing to Sony’s system, but in a follow-up interview with The Verge he seemed hesitant to rule out the possibility of them ever getting converted in the future.
“I don't think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform,” he explained. “We're focused on these four games and learning from the experience.” So, you’re telling us there’s a chance.gif?
Spencer continued that he doesn’t want to create a “false expectation” on PS5 that “the dam's going to open and that everything else is coming”. He explained: “That's not the plan today. I also don't want to mislead customers on those other platforms. We're launching these four games, and we're excited about it. We're excited about the announce and everything else, but we'll see what happens for our business.”
So, that cleared that up, then, eh?

Or just play them on Xbox!
It just takes longer to port those two, that's all.
Called it, nothing massive but some games will show up. the Internet was just going crazy as always.
But then again what four games could it be?
There's always a But when Phil Spencer speaks. He should audition as the Riddler in the next batman film, Riddle me this, four games coming to playstation but what are they? 😂
This is the real damage from doing this move. Even if they say this game isn’t coming to PS, they’ve broken so many promises about exclusivity before that of course people aren’t gonna trust them. It’s not consumers being dumb or stubborn, Xbox 100% brought this onto themselves.
As long as gears trilogy and the halo trilogy come to ps5 I'm happy.
Couldn't care less about either of these games. Just give us Hellblade 2 like you know you should.
They're coming in time, but im convinced the 4 games are sea of thieves, grounded, pentiment, and hi-fi rush (he said 2 live service games and 2 smaller games)
If these 4 make money those games are coming too.
After reading all of the countless rumours, that was about as underwhelming as it could have been. I wonder what the 4 games are, did they say 2 live service and 2 single player? I was playing Death Stranding at the time and missed a few minutes of the podcast
@Deoxyr1bose what are you on about? All they've done is bring 4 games to other platforms. People are acting like they've created the end of the world.
People overreacted before the news and are now acting as if 4 smaller/older games going to other platforms is a disaster. People here will do anything to complain about Xbox.
That was seemingly the most pointless 'update' I've ever seen. 20 minutes essentially saying nothing, yet clearly skirting around a massive elephant in the room.
They are going to hedge their bets in the hope that Xbox can grow enough in the short term to not publish their 'bigger' games on Playstation and Nintendo, but if that fails then the dam will open.
Absolute PR guff.
@K1LLEGAL no ***** lol.
I love my ps4 pro. But come on people, this port begging is getting insane.
@Loamy Yeah, Doom's whole thing is being ported to everything - even things that it shouldn't run on but somehow does. Not just the classic games, but even the new ones with the Switch "miracle ports". Being exclusive kind of goes against Doom's identity.
Buy PS5 to play PS5 exclusives and all the 3rd party stuff, not xBoX eXcLuSiVe gAmEs. Especially After watching AngryJoe review Starfield and Red fall. Even the latest Forza Motorsport looks so boring. Wouldn't mind having some of Rares older N64 games though, that collection of Rare games is the only real interest of mine, Sunset Overdrive too
@Yozora146_ I know they aren’t Xbox studio games. But what if the smaller ones were actually just Ori, and Vampire survivors? I can’t remember if either of those came over to us yet. I know Ori hasn’t.
There not getting the game pass memberships they are needing by 2030.. So of course they got to generate money beyond Xbox, it’s not selling in Europe real well and really only market they have is America.
They act as if they want to be seen as the mutual party that wants to collaborate with competitors.. All they did was cancel games coming to PS5 already and bring them back later in time and say look at what I did..
I don’t really have a need for Xbox, only thing Microsoft has done is make a headache for gamers.
You can tell they had practiced their lines real well. I guess they were trying to get a lot internet buz so people will talk about them again.
Spencer continued that he doesn’t want to create a “false expectation” on PS5 that “the dam's going to open and that everything else is coming”. He explained: “That's not the plan today
That says it all really.
@lightningbolt79 I enjoy video games. You nailed it though, getting online and seeing the news, and the crazy rumors, just kinda ruins gaming for me and a few I know.
It’s not fun anymore. I’m still looking for a plane Jane website for gaming news that doesn’t ride rumors and BS for clicks.
@UltimateOtaku91 who cares.
If the plans didn't leak early (with false details). This announcement would not have garnered much attention. It's hilarious that it got to a point to where people live reacted to this podcast.
We wouldn't even be having the starfield/Indy discussion without the false rumors.
"just yet"? 🤔 What's the base of this affirmation?
Lies of p strikes again.he was doing more tap dancing and 💃 dancing around than his twin brother ron desatan🤔😄.haha.word up son
‘Yet’ is just clickbait. There’s nothing at all that indicates a ‘yet’. A ‘maybe’ would have been more accurate. But still unlikely.
I just dont know why anyone would be interested in a lazy cashgrab like Starfield.
So more or less confirmed for the PlayStation 5 then, everything Phil says is just PR ***** at this point
So 4 games this year.
What 4 games will they pick next year?
@11001100110zero
Vampires hasn't but I gotta admit I doubt its one of those 4 just because as you say its not an xbox studio game or even published by them I think.
Ori could be a good shout as it was published by them.
That headline sums Xbox up entirely. And people wonder why any Xbox "exclusive" gets port begged.
@Yozora146_ According to the verge the 4 games are Hi-fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment and Grounded.
@GeminiReign you saying this like 70% of players can afford 2 or 3 gaming platform. I own a PS5 and an Series S but for many it's not an option.
I believe this is just the beginning. Even if they have internal plans to bring other titles they aren't going to announce it all at once. It's a drip feed and they gave constant hints that the future is without exclusivity. It'll be interesting to see in the next 12 months how future titles end up
Lmao. Just yet? This is legitimately next level delusion. I seriously am getting second hand embarrassment reading these articles
Yeah seriously, you listen to the podcast and think Phil said one thing then listen again and nope. He didn't actually confirm Starfield and Indiana Jones aren't ever going multiplat, just that they weren't two of the four games they're currently planning to put on PS and Switch.
On a case by case basis is the best we'll probably hear as they've said before. Guess they have to be a year old to be considered so unlikely to be day and date and if they're a live service or small game it increases the odds.
@MrMagic hopefully we get more. PS only making 1 game a year is criminal we need more games
@Glorioso delusion
@UltimateOtaku91 they not coming I’m sorry
@jmvalone lol
They're funny.
I understand he couldn't tell it like it is as the already half dead console sales would completely flatline
But it's obvious starfield is being ported along with a bunch more.
These are testing grounds. It's right there in the quotes: "we're [...] learning from the experience" and "we'll see what happens for our business".
"That's not the plan today". Keyword here is "today". They're planting the seed.
Couldn't this just have been a few tweets and not a week worth of waiting for people were in fear of or interested in.
@GeminiReign Partly you're right but not entirely. There was a time when I was happy if I could occasionally go out or save up enough to afford a new game. A new console remained just a dream for a long time. I didn't mean to argue, just wanted to shed light on this as well.
More like "Starfield and Indiana Jones aren't coming to PS5 because we couldn't take the backlash from the Xbox loyalists, but maybe... someday."
Please count Gears trilogy as one game.
As usual with X Box and game announcement it's yet another nothing burger like we all expected but it's obvious he's easing X Box customers into bringing bigger Xbox games to PlayStation because considering the terrible sales figures on X Box he hasn't got any choice. I would prefer to play Grounded and Hi fi Rush than Starfield anyway, which looks horrendous.
I honestly believe Starfield would have had a much worse reception if X Box owners were not so starved of quality exclusives after the Redfield disaster and Halo Infinite releasing in such a horrific unfinished state and Horizon getting panned for being boring and generic and I believe they gave it an easier time because they got it on Gamepass for nothing. On PC where people paid full price the launch reception was extremely different with the majority of reviewers saying they were extremely disappointed and many said they felt misled by streams and advertising which promised a very different game than the one they got.
As people now understand what Starfield actually is I don't think many Playstation 5 owners would buy it anyway. X Box saw the games terrible reception on PC and must know spending £70 on a game like Starfield isn't going to be an attractive proposition to Playstation gamers accustomed to playing higher quality exclusives and many simply don't want a 30fps space shooter after being used to 60fps on PlayStation 5 exclusives. Also Starfields structure and design feels extremely dated. I understand the constant loading screens are necessary compromise to stop Bethesdas ancient game engine from collapsing under the strain but it doesn't stop it being jarring and immersion breaking and it yet another thing that makes it feels like a game from a generation or two ago.
It's sad day for ol' Phil when even the idea of X Box's biggest exclusive coming to PlayStation is met with glazed eyes, shrugs and a meh I'll pass thanks Phil but it's very nice of you to offer 👍🤣
