Out of nowhere, Penny's Big Breakaway is now available for purchase on PS5.
In case you're not caught up, this game is a stylish, colourful 3D platformer from developer Evening Star, with many members of staff having previously worked on Sonic Mania. The titular Penny is a performer who specialises in yo-yo tricks, and with a sentient yo-yo at her side, you adventure through various vibrant landscapes, evading hordes of pesky penguins.
The yo-yo is a huge part of Penny's moveset; you can ride it down hills to build momentum, swirl it around to knock away enemies, and plenty more. The whole game looks pretty darn delightful, carrying a sort of old school whimsy and charm you might've seen on PS2 or earlier.
It'll set you back $29.99/£24.99, and is up for purchase on PS Store right now. Will you be taking a look at Penny's Big Breakaway? Walk the dog in the comments section below.

I've been looking forward to this but going to wait for reviews first after the Clive & Wrench fiasco.
Just finished downloading and about to start playing. See ya later. =)
UPDATE: Think I may have already soft-locked myself.
Insta-wishlisted. I'd just get it if I wasn't already playing 342625 games and looking to add a few more in the coming weeks.
I will buy it at a sale, it's too expensive now.
@Voltan I need about 4 - 5 months of vacation to play all the games I want
@Rob3008 Don’t know Clive & Wrench but I have serious Yooka-Laylee regret. My post from NL.
Looks good, but then so did Yooka-Laylee, so I’ll need a review.
Though come to think of it YL reviewed well, but for me the 5 worlds in order were: great, good, bad, broken, not even a world. So there’s that.
I’m guessing this will run better on PS5 and be half price soon enough, so I’ll wait.
February goes down in the books for being the thickest month in game releases for me in ages. Can’t wait to try this one out!
Getting some good steam reviews, multiple people talking about how good it feels to play and the movement. Not sure if ps5 or steam deck yet?
Odd that this one made it to PS before freedom planet 2.
@rjejr Yooka Laylee was incredibly disappointing but Impossible Lair was terrific, don't let the first title put you off.
@rjejr Been playing this, different beast from yooka.. in a different league. Feels sooo good to play.
@Sequel @Rob3008 Thank you both. I think I will be playing this at some point, heard it's reviewing well, too bad there's no demo if it's good, that demo for Balan's Wonderworld stopped me cold in my tracks, no chance after that. Maybe if it sells well enough we'll get a demo.
