Just under two weeks after its initial release, Tekken 8 is set to receive its first balance update. Patch 1.01.04 will drop on the 7th February, after server maintenance is carried out at 10:30 JST / 01:30 GMT / 02:30 CET / 17:30 PST until 16:00 JST / 07:00 GMT / 08:00 CET / 23:00 PST. Obviously, you won't be able to play online during this time β so make sure to get your Tekken fix in beforehand!
We don't have any patch notes to peruse just yet β all we know is that the update includes "balance adjustments and bug fixes". The latter means that this patch should address a number of weird in-battle bugs that players have been documenting since launch; stuff like specific attacks doing far too much damage under certain conditions.
As for character balance, it's still a bit too early to be demanding all-out nerfs, but a number of pro players have been highlighting potential problems. Characters like Jun, Azucena, and Dragunov have been in the firing line over the last few days β the argument being that they're borderline perfect fighters β so it'll be interesting to see what this update actually alters.
What are your hopes and dreams for this patch? Let us know how your Tekken journey's progressing in the comments section below.

This is good to see that the balances are getting implemented soon. I use Jack 8 online and I donβt think he needs anything done massively to his setup! However, the characters mentioned so far will be very welcoming to see them rebalanced as sometimes it feels impossibly to fight against them, but then again it might also have something to do with the fact that I am really only playing a Tekken game as much as I am right now since 3 released on the original PlayStation! π π
As a Jun main i hope they go easy on her.
Cool, hopefully they've balanced all the other people playing it so I have a chance of winning online π
@DennisReynolds Same here. I'm guessing she'll start taking more recoverable damage from her moves, maybe add a few frames here or there.
So they're making a brilliant game better !
Nice one Namco.
I've not played enough to notice massively overpowered mains, although Azucena kicked my arse many times so maybe she's overpowered or I'm not so good with my mains of Paul and Leo.
My mains are Jin, Nina, Asuka and Azucena. I definitely expect some changes, just hope they don't nerf any of them too much.
As a new (converted) Tekken player im enjoying the game alot. Ive tried a few characters but i just find them quite confusing to remember anything. Im ok in the training/combo tutorial but i forget everything when it comes to fighting in a match. Ive settled on Azucena for now as shes the easiest ive found to learn and have won a few online matches with her but at a basic level.
@Kidfunkadelic83 I know exactly what you mean! Quite impressed with myself in training, doing all sorts of fancy shenanigans. Then I go into a match and they start hitting me and I just forget it all... ,π
I found going into a match with three or four moves to concentrate on help me remember them, rather than trying to do loads from the list at once.
@Nye1779 its more about remembering the combos i struggle with. Im getting there tho.
