Last week was a relatively quiet moment in what's been a very busy period for game releases, but the latest UK retail chart still has a new entry. While we presume most of its sales will be digital across PS5 and PC, it appears Helldivers 2 isn't doing too badly with its boxed copies, either. The PS5 version has debuted in the top 10 at number seven.
It shakes up what is otherwise a pretty familiar list of bestsellers. Hogwarts Legacy has reclaimed number one, with EA Sports FC 24 back in second and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League now in third place. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 makes a big return at number six — we assume this is down to a price cut — while the more recent iteration, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, is at number eight. Tekken 8 takes a tumble from third to ninth, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 almost crawls back to the top 10, currently at number 11.
Here's the latest top 10 in full (physical sales only).

I guess Suicide Squad ain't the flop everyone expected it to be, also id wager HellDivers 2 sold way more digital copies (ratio wise) than other games would due to its reasonable price.
@UltimateOtaku91 i guess suicide squad had a larger budget and therefore has to sell more copies to be a financial success. Its current steam engagement is in the low thousands, so it my struggle long term.
@UltimateOtaku91 without units sold, this chart is kinda meaningless. I thought I read that it sold half of guardians of the galaxy at launch, which wasn't considered a commercial success, despite being top of the charts.
@UltimateOtaku91 That's actually false. The game has abysmal numbers on steam and last week it was reported that it did a lot worse than Guardians and Avengers. The game is dead on arrival.
It's funny how hard you guys try to avoid mentioning any Nintendo Title at all.
You colleagues over at NL are good sports and acknowledge each games success in their charts articles, no matter which platform. Heck, they even link the games to your reviews here!
@UltimateOtaku91 It's a live service game that has very few players after a week. Number of copies sold is not the only thing that maintain a game like that alive. Suicide Squad is DOA.
@Vorflynn Helldivers 2 physical has been sold out here in Australia since the first day so that would be driving up digital copies here. Aside from the inexpensive price a lot of people would also be buying digital to share it with their kids on secondary ps5's. I almost did that myself but in the end I'll just buy two physicals when I can.
Helldivers 2 is a ton of fun! I'm doing my part.
@mazzel I don't think it's intentional, I mean why would people on a playstation website focus on Nintendo titles? Especially when they are on 4th and 5th place. I remember a lot of people on here mentioned TOTK when that was doing well
@mazzel How many times do the talk about how many Playstation games are in the top ten at the Nintendo site?
@R1spam I keep telling people this. The Saints Row reboot also debuted very high on the UK and US charts, and we all know how that turned out. Without numbers and the inclusion of digital sales, these charts mean nothing.
Great numbers for a great game from great devs.
@Flaming_Kaiser like I wrote, if a game is successful or doing well, they always mention it. Just go there and check today's article about the UK charts.
@Blaze215 so why care about Top10 anyways if you are not interested in the "comoetition"? I mean we are all gamers here, many not bound to a single system.
It has something to do with, maybe decency? Don't know how to put it
@mazzel
I'd just be happy with Push Square mentioning all platforms a game is available on instead of wording every article like the games are only on PS4 or PS5. I'd argue readers deserve all the relevant information, even if the site itself is geared towards one console ecosystem. In fact, I sent several polite messages to Push Square about this very simple and easy improvement they could make to their already top-quality site.
@R1spam Well it wasn't consider a success by SE views which I think everyone knows they are very hard on western devs when it comes to targets.
Hogwarts was a monster for that studio.
@TheCollector316 yeah, exactly! Not sure why they took this approach. I haven't send any messages to them in this regard, but I noticed since a long time.
Similar, but different thing: Over at NL they keep ignoring their Europe Audience by almost every time only quoting prices in USD and £. Sure it's a GB Website, however, I think they have a huge reader base outside of US and GB...
The Switch port of HL is definitely doing work. Over half of these sales were on that platform.
@mazzel This is a Sony site isnt it? The same goes for Nintendo they have their stuff it's not a multiplatform site that's why.
@Flaming_Kaiser Na, this is, first and foremost, a gaming website, focusing on Playstation Games. Not a Sony Website.
I mean, if you buy an issue of the New York Times, do you only expect news from New York?
For their main articles, of course they have to focus on topics mainly related to Sonys Platform.
For Charts, however, it is all about the competition.
So, I prefer to have all information inside the article. If I write about Top10, why not mentioning all platforms?
If your are satisfied with the way Push square does it, that's good for you 👌
I like it better in another way 😉
All you need to know is this game is great for democracy and spreading freedom.
