Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been quite divisive thus far, with lots of discussion online about the pros and cons of this anti-hero looter shooter. However, it appears to be doing just fine when it comes to sales; in the UK, the game has arrived at number one on the physical retail chart, selling over 80 per cent of those copies on PS5.
For a little extra context on how its launch weekend has gone, GamesIndustry's Christopher Dring shared some comparisons on X:
It means Persona 3 Reload, which also launched just before the weekend, has to settle for second place, but that's not a bad start for the RPG remake. The game also sold most of its physical copies on PS5. Fellow new releases Granblue Fantasy: Relink and Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash didn't make as big a splash, debuting in 15th and 29th respectively.
Last week's big hitters, Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, have of course dropped down the chart. The former is down two places to third, and the latter takes a tumble from second to 28th.
The rest of the physical top 10 (below) is made up of the usual bestsellers:
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 3rd February, 2024
- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
- Persona 3 Reload
- Tekken 8
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- EA Sports FC 24
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
- Grand Theft Auto V

Brand new game from a revered developer lands at number 1 - no surprise there
Said game being an absolute joke compared to previous efforts - can't see it being at number 1 for long 😐
I bought both and decided to play Suicide Squad first. So far I haven't touched Persona as I'm having such a blast with Suicide Squad.
Got the Persona CE and I won't be buying Suicide Squad seen the part of the game on YouTube already the story.
Good for it, though half of Guardians doesn't exactly sound promising.
Pretty impressive for Reload to get to no2 considering it's meant to be more of a niche title. No surprise that Suicide Squad is at no1 given the huge amount of marketing Sony has put into the game. I have seen advertisements for this game everywhere. The the DC appeal for casuals is something to factor in. Doubt it will be no1 when FF7 Rebirth comes out though.
Crap game performs well cos consumers are idiots.
This is why we can't have nice things.
@mikeawmids Yeah it's definitely not a game that should be getting good sales when it's reviews are piss poor for it along with it's player count being weak on steam.
Is it me, or is CoD quite low?
If there is good in this world this game will drop off hard next week and Steam will stop censoring the reviews so the score drops to mixed and even the most gullible consumers will ignore this trash like they ignored Avengers.
Not sure when the other games came out, but to be fair to Granblue Fantasy Relink, it had been out for 2 days when this chart was made. And there was a huge incentive to get it digitally since you got early access.
I mean, actually just in general, this chart seems pretty pointless now that 90% of games sold in the UK are digital (though they include mobile """"games"""" which is gonna throw it off, but still.)

@MegaManX-7 How is it hyperbolic? The criticisms are that the game is short, poorly written and repetitive. If anything the positive reviews make no sense because they always have the caveat 'good if you turn your brain off or wait for a deep sale'.
@Matroska Apparently Relink had a bigger launch on Steam than Infinite Wealth and the Persona 3 remake (judging by concurrent player numbers) - although I'd expect the majority of players to be in the Asian markets where the mobile game is extremely popular.
For reference, Guardians of the Galaxy was a massive bomb(relative to its budget)
@Voltan Yeah it had over 100,000 (and Suicide Squad's aforementioned 13,000 puts that in perspective). About half the players were Chinese - if it sells in Japan it'll be on PS4/5.
@Ramavetos BUT you could also be playing GOOD games while relaxing. SS is flawed. It's a waste of time and resources and it made the key people inside Rocksteady leave. It's in the same boat as Avengers and Crystal Dynamics, but even less successful.

@Ramavetos Because you are playing SS
Given its current sales numbers, I don’t foresee Suicide Squad having legs til it goes on sale, if it’s at half of Guardians’s sales. Even with this, it’s likely WB will rethink their strategy for future titles, as they do have Hogwarts to contrast it with. Sort of surprised to see P3 at 2.
Absolutely proof that the enthusiast bubble is blocking folks on here's judgement.
Outside of it, lots of people who dont read websites like this every day also game. And guess what? They like superhero stuff and they like shooters.

@LordAinsley Then why aren't they buying or playing the game? It seems like the people that buy and enjoy SS are in a bubble

It’s really good. Much better than the Avengers game. I’d say it’s closer in style to the Guardians game but also reminds me of Sunset Overdrive. I’m playing through the story and loving every minute. Cutscenes and dialogue in general are hilarious. Gameplay is satisfying.
I think a lot of the hate online is coming from people who dislike live-service games. But I wouldn’t even know this was a live service game so far. Feels like a single player game with optional Co-op.
Infinite Wealth fell off a cliff - feels like a enthusiast game where everyone who wants it will have bought it day 1.
People are ignoring the lack of competition for the spot. GotG was a great game so I'm glad it did a lot better on debut
I mean its a game based on a well known IP
Not a JRPG that most people haven't heard of so not surprised it beating persona 3.
I'm sure the sales are poor anyway 😅
Tekken 8 is such an awesome game, actually my favorite of the current gen, so I hope it has a strong hold. Last I looked on the PSN store, it was still among the top 10 in the U.S.
That CoD may not survive for long. Can't wait for the promising titles of Feb and Mar
@Triumph741 huh? The article is about the game at number 1 in the chart. So it is being bought.
Like I said, it's folks like us hating that are in the bubble. If we were to go with our gut feelings on the game and thoughts about it, it wouldn't break the top 10. But it has. So we were all wrong
Reading some comments here made me lose some brain cells.
Anyway, good for Rocksteady. Planning on buying this game after I'm done with FF7 stuff
@Triumph741 How dare people like other things....get back in your pen sheep
2024 is the year where we finally turn off our brains and just resort to insulting our fellow humans over the most trivial of things.
Tekken 8 going to strong 🥰
I'm sorry but no GB Relink? This suck.
