Shadows Of The Damned launched during a fascinating part of the PS3 era, where EA suddenly started publishing smaller titles, like the equally iconic Alice: Madness Returns. The business model didn’t last long, but we’re still grateful for the aforementioned third-person shooter, which was co-designed by industry icons Suda51 and Shinji Mikami. And as previously reported it’s getting a PS5 and PS4 remaster, due out later this year.
The release, appropriately subtitled Hella Remastered, promises to “take players on a wild ride with demon hunter Garcia Hotspur, as he kicks demon ass and makes his way through the darkest depths of Hell, lighting up the darkness with his burning passion on a mission to rescue his true love from an insidious demon king”.
The original game had some truly bonkers moments, like one chapter where you needed to use your Big Boner (a sniper rifle) to take out a giant demon lady. It was pretty, ahem, hard.
There’s no specific release date for the remaster just yet, but you can add the title to your PlayStation wishlist through here. Will you be revisiting this cult classic? Let us know in the comments section below.

Definitely buying this but still unbelievably upset that EA didn't let the creator of Alice Madness Returns make a sequel let alone give the guy the IP since they aren't even using it.
@Nepp67 Heck, I'd just take a remaster of Madness Returns to be honest!
@get2sammyb Same here, I did buy it on PC though a while back and I love, love, love the art style and theme of the game!
Really enjoyed this game on the PS3, probably why I enjoyed Evil West so much as that also had the B movie vibe! If they drop a physical version I will happily pick it up again!
Fantastic game, one of my favorites on PS3. Really glad it's getting new life as it deserves.
They better release a Let's get Physical Helladition
cool, this and Lollipop, so why not Killer7 Suda51? such a weird and unique game.
@Nepp67 just playing this game on deck. Fun game especially those combat. Amazing theme and style though
Probably won't revisit this, but definitely a fun, sophomoric game. Certainly the Suda game with the most solid gameplay.
Mikami left Microsoft to work on the sequel for this.
@CthulhuFhtagn @amatmulisha killer 7 absolutely deserves a remake!
I loved this game as a kid lol
Also from time to time I talked about this game to make my point about how I hate being chased even if it's not a horror game. My anxiety goes through the roof
@Suda51ueda I haven’t play those killer 7 but it’s on my wishlist.
Awesome news. I remember playing this game religiously back in the day. I’d love to see more games of similar nature make a comeback.
Cool.shadow of the damned was a good game on the ps3.this remastered should be good.word up son
Please Suda dont follow the recent trend of remasters being disappointing. SOTD and Lollipop Chainsaw were just good silly fun. Dont let EA charge premium currency for the Big Boner.
Also id love to play Suda at cards. Thise lucky ducks at PAX lol
I love this game and played it recently on Xbox via BC. It'll be interesting to see what's added/improved in this remaster.
Anyone remember Urban Chaos? Imagine if that got remastered hahaha
I'm going to buy this as I never played the original
@CthulhuFhtagn
I remember being in my late teens when I picked this game up and I literally couldn't play it because it freaked me out too much. It wasn't even particular scary but to me that just made it more effective than dedicated horror like Resident Evil.
@ATaco same. I remember there was a boss that you had to shoot his brain, the brain was dragging on the floor behind him. that guy freaked me out.
@Nepp67 Alice Returns was mediocre at its best, even with decent sales. Nobody would buy a remaster. Shadows of the Damn will sell because Resident Evil is hot right now
@cjmva216 Eh I consider it pretty good, I enjoyed its dark and edgy art style. Been a minute since I continued playing it though.
I had a good time with it, but I would much rather see a new game.
This remaster has been in the making for a very long time too.
