We all basically knew this already, but CD Projekt Red is done with Cyberpunk 2077. With the launch of Phantom Liberty last year, alongside the massive Update 2.0, it felt like the Polish outfit had finally righted the wrongs of the game's disastrous release. Getting to that point took a lot of time and effort — and the aforementioned additions apparently cost the studio around $63 million to develop. Redemption doesn't come cheap!
But if you've been keeping up with the open world RPG, you'll know that it's recently received a smaller patch or two, mostly in the hope of addressing bugs. However, the 2.11 update, which dropped in January, actually added (rather limited) vehicle customisation options. So when CD Projekt Red says it's done with Cyberpunk 2077, is that really the case?
Well, we now have a direct answer from director Gabe Amatangelo (via Game File) — and it's essentially a repeat of what we've just written. "We're done," he says. "[But] it's possible that there's some other little thing that comes in here or there, just because, as you're kind of messing around with stuff, sometimes you discover something that is not a high risk. Or it's easy to integrate. Or, you know, some developers have some bandwidth."
In other words, don't be surprised to see the game get minor updates every now and then — assuming the team believes there's something worth adding, or improving, and said something doesn't distract from other responsibilities (namely the next Cyberpunk game).
With this in mind, it'll be interesting to see what future patches hold for Cyberpunk 2077. Are there any little bits or pieces that you'd like to see added? Have a think in the comments section below.

Hopefully it doesn't happen again.
Quite the journey this game took to get here. I'm so glad they stuck with it though. I think Cyberpunk is easily one of the best RPGs available on PS5 and I'm excited to see where the sequel goes. Hopefully it's a much more smoother launch next time around!
Wish they would have added a new game+ but without one I'll never play this again unfortunately.
I wonder if they learned from this experience. Making a full BS first trailer, releasing a broken game that doesn't even run on old gen, promising refunds on playstation without even involving Sony.
@Rhaoulos Well we can only hope that the executives have learned and not rely on their "CDPR magic" ***** again because iirc the devs that worked on the expansion along with the updates are working on the sequel.
@Happymoogle with how much variety there is, I couldn’t even truly enjoy playing past the first few hours knowing that I won’t be able to experience it with my character as much as I want. Waiting two years to get the game to what it should have been only to be told, hey, replay ability hasn’t changed much. I’ve got other things to play, and life calls as well.
Loool anyone think it's funny that this game was released 4 years ago and its only now considered finished with potential 'small updates' coming.
In other words it should of been released in 2024 instead of 2020.
I'm glad I waited on playing the game until the 2.0 update, cause I absolutely loved it.
I wish part 2 to be 1st and 3rd person....always good for more options.....
@EYEBALL
I agree, but I think the damage is already done. One would think consumers would be unlikely to purchase a CDPR game at launch.
Yet doubtful because so many people seem to forget these things or that if a game is fixed years later it's ok. 🤷♂️
I've been burned too many times before to buy games at launch. Cyberpunk wasn't one of those at least.
@PoeticJustice
Yes, but I bet most gamers will forget all about this by the time CSPR's next game releases. That, or they were fine with the Cyberpunk situation to begin with.
@Happymoogle
I had been holding out forever for the Witcher 3 to get transmog so my Geralt wouldn't have to look like a dork for better stats gear over the starting outfit which I think looked best.
I don't see a new game Plus ever happening for Cyberpunk fans.
I‘m still baffled that this game was initially announced BEFORE the PS4 (10 Jan 2013 vs. 21 Feb 2013).
I might finally get round to starting this seriously after dragons dogma 2 now they have stopped with huge updates and they seem happy with the game now. It's only taken 3 years or so.
@Korgon Yeah, I'll probably make the complete edition my first ps5 game when I eventually get one
Still the best game I've played on PS5.
I played this in the first couple of weeks and refunded the game, rebought it for significantly less (maybe a fiver?) and have not played since. The first game was so bugged though, I shot a gun and for the rest of that game save, everyone was crouching. It was funny but unplayable. If I get the time I'll dip later but really not motivated, besides the new Spidey patch should keep me busy for a bit
Still need to play the DLC (hoping they put it all on one disc) but really.enjoyed my time with this game. I'm glad I didn't get to experience what it was at launch
Hopefully a massive lesson learnt my CDPR re the Cyberpunk saga, I'm pretty sure they will be sure not to make the same mistakes again to be fair.
Must say the current game is excellent on PS5 so IMHO they did fulfill the promise eventually.
Cool.now they can really get started on theyre next video games adventures.word up son
Glad they've put a bow on it. All hands on deck for the Witcher!
I have hundreds of hours poured into Cyberpunk 2077. I’ll probably play hundreds more before I am done. That game is on my all-time best list, along with Skyrim and others.
There is absolutely nothing to cheer about. They took additional 1187 days (3 years, 3 months and 1 day) to finish their game from 2020. It's pathetic to even have gotten it out so early.
The comments on here have severe Todd Howarditis imho
@BookhouseBoy Bizarrely, the full game and DLC are both on discs for Xbox but PS5 is the game plus a download code.
Normally you'll be lucky to have 2GB of a game on an Xbox disc.
@wildcat_kickz not all hands. Their Boston office is at work on the Cyberpunk sequel and I’m excited! Just hope I live to see it
@ryanburnsred Very true, though I imagine there will be cross pollination from time to time, especially closer to Witcher's release.
New game plus please and Make Judy calls me
