E3 is comfortably six feet under at this point, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be bereft of video game shenanigans this summer. Host Geoff Keighley has announced that his Summer Game Fest event will return on Friday, 7th June at 5PM PT/5PM ET/10PM BST. It’ll be broadcast live from the YouTube Theatre in glitzy Los Angeles.
Writing on Twitter, Keighley promised that “thousands of in-person fans” will join “millions online” as the cross-platform showcase reveals “what’s next for video games”. Presumably, the likes of PlayStation will have their own separate livestreams, but Sony tends to throw Summer Game Fest a bone where possible, so that’s something to keep an eye out for.
If you’re planning to attend by the way, tickets will go on sale from Tuesday, 7th May, so that might be something worth marking on your calendar. In the meantime, what are you hoping to get out of this year’s Summer Game Fest? Share some of your dream announcements in the comments section below.

I find this man to be very boring to listen to. Can we not get someone with a bit of actual personality to present it for a change?
And I assume it will be just as awful as the last 2 years
@LifeGirl It must be an ego thing. Presumably, he relishes being the "face" of video games. And it works for the industry as a whole because he bends over backwards for corporate interests. He suddenly spoke out about all the industry losses today, weird to hear no comment from the face of games...but he had to so he could start promoting this. Box ticking exercise.
He's awful at it, absolutely no sauce. He should keep the event going and farm out presenting duties. But without a mass revolt from viewers, the industry is happy to keep him in place to do this.
I don't expect anything exciting this year based on everything we've been hearing so far!
Cool.more video games is always welcome.word up son
@LifeGirl be careful what you wish for 🙃
New Sonic game announcements
As long as we see some good games then I don't really care who hosts it.
I can't stand this guy.
Just announce games, online, and skip the rest of the boring crap.
I'll bet we'll get more embarrassing Kojima worshipping...
I don't know what games will be shown, but I know I'll know more about what movies are heading to theaters this Holiday season than I did before, and I'll get very excited for CGI trailers of mobile gatcha's.
Say what you want about E3, but even the E3 with Verizon talking about local tower processing was more exciting than anything Keighley does.
I just wonder what wonder what he'll fill the last hour with since he can't bring Druckman back for the 40th year in a row to go on about a game that will never release? Maybe he can just bring Neil on to talk about Jak X: Combat Racing Remastered.
@NEStalgia Easy, Microsoft uses Summer Game Fest to announce more PS5 ports of Xbox exclusives. Includes a very special Todd Howard appearance showcasing how Starfield's PS5 version (the $70 package includes the Shattered Space expansion) fully realizes the game's true vision and potential with the power of PS5 Pro.
Geoff Keighley is a shill who's more interested in sponsors, adverts, billion$ corporations, trying to sell crap and licking the ground kojima walks on then he is in the actual games industry and what's been happening with the lay offs and how people are treated.... Amongst other stuff
@Grumblevolcano Every Todd Howard appearance is special.
Puhlease. If Todd and Modern Sony get together for a true vision version of the game, we'll be waiting 8 years for the definitive remaster only on PC, you'll still need day 1 DLC, and bugs that were fixed in the original launch day 1 patch will return.
The PS5 Pro version will be the same old version that just runs a little less janky due to the hardware
Hmmmmmmmm dream announcements at Summer Game Fest huh? I guess I would have to go with maybe the Dawntrail Release Date. FFIX Remake? All sorts of things really I’m not sure I’m just happy to watch.
Summer Game Fest will never match E3 in hype levels.
Like TGA the whole thing feels like hours of Geoff Keighley patting himself on the back(With 30 minutes reserved for patting Kojima's of course)
His whole persona just comes off as fake to me for some reason.

@Dragoon1994 I'm so desperate for more KH IV stuff 😅 I get what they're doing and I respect it they're clearly holding off until the game is mostly done so there's no repeat of the infamous "Now In Development" meme from the KH III days I think that got to them a bit. I think the only reason they announced it early is because if they showed up to the 20th anniversary event with just a trailer for a mobile phone game there would've been riots 😅
If its anything like the last summer games fest it will be one to forget a whole show of mediocrity and scraps from what's left after Microsoft and sony do their own shows and the big 3rd party company's know the real exposure is headling one of the big console shows (star wars ubisoft as an example premiered gameplay at xbox show)
