It’s a truth universally acknowledged that no great RPG can be complete without a quality collectible card game, and Square Enix brought the heat with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and its exceptional Queen’s Blood. The mode has proven a welcome distraction for adventurers working their way through the PS5 console exclusive, and word is there may be more on the way.
Speaking with Red Bull, director Naoki Hamaguchi said that while his team hasn’t “decided anything on future development”, feedback has been very positive and so it wants to “consider further expansions as a possibility”. There are already 145 cards in the game, but we could certainly see some kind of DLC add-on incorporating more.
Obviously, the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake did receive a significant expansion in the form of Intermission, so we suspect if Square Enix has additional content in mind for Rebirth, it’ll consider expanding upon the scope of Queen’s Blood as part of it. But would you be interested in playing more of the collectible card game? Deal your hand in the comments section below.

I love this game. I wish there were more opponents. Probably the best FF card game imo
@Andy22385 I guess some kind of expansions could add more opponents/tournaments/maybe even online play?
Queen’s Blood is so damn fun. Best part about it is the matches are quick
Awesome, Queen's Blood is so much fun.
Yeah love Queen's Blood and its actually one of my favourite things in the game.
I think they could actually expand on it and release it as a standalone game, like Hearthstone. Could be great fun playing it against friends
New opponents is one of my favorite things to look for when I go to a new town or region. But I feel like a lot of its rules are unnecessary and easy to abuse at least up to chapter 7
Most abilities especially the ones that reduce power, or destroy your own card to power up another, are kinda redundant and its mostly a game of who can fill in the board the most first. And if you start with a really good hand, it's almost impossible to lose. I do wonder how a match against an actual person would go though
@jt887 I don't think devs who improve performance and devs who add new Queen's Blood opponents are necessarily the same
Expand all you want but Triple Triad won't be dethroned
@Czar_Khastik queen's blood ain't got nothing triple triad, such a quality card game, they should make a mini game for it, like withxher did with gwent!
I was a bit sad when I realized I'd beaten all the QB content in the game, so yeah, I'd take more.
Honestly one of the few things i adored in the game. I would play a mobile app qb game
QB is mechanically enjoyable, and if I were to go in wanting that experience instead of the second chapter of the FFVII remake-saga, I´d probably be more taken with it.
Been playing QB every chance I get, pretty awesome. Loved Triple Triad back in the day as well.
QB is really so much fun and each game doesn't take forever.
I loved Gwent so much I bought a physical version, and would absolutely do the same for Queen’s Blood.
I'm only on Chapter 7 of Rebirth, so perhaps I'm jumping the gun here... but how exactly is this card game acclaimed?
I thought it was executed really badly for the following reasons:
Sorry... if someone could tell me a good card game where you ALWAYS win? And this is "acclaimed"? Do me a favour.
The game itself is good. It's the implementation that fails on every single level.
Acclaimed?! Am I missing something here?!
They built all these huge locations to explore and NOT a single person at SE stopped for a second and thought...
Hrmmm we could hide a rare card here!
Or... we could make this random hiker NPC on Mount Corel give them a game?!
Acclaimed. What a joke. They had something good and they well and truly botched it.
What about adding an item acquisition mechanic?! So I'm not having to go around Morphing enemies for things I need (and my team killing stuff before I get the chance).
Literally anything would make this better!!
@nocdaes You just said yourself that the game is good, so maybe that’s why?
@Kiefer-Sutherland the mechanics of the game are good, yes. What enjoyment is there to be had from a game you cannot lose though? That's a very hollow victory.
It's also not very final fantasy is it? The entire history of the franchise is full of examples where rare items are difficult to obtain and can even be missed in their entirety.
So yes, the mechanic is good... but the whole thing falls down by the poor execution.
I adore Queen’s Blood. Initially was frustrated but it finally “clicked” on the ship and I’m LOVING it.
Love the game myself despite others rants.
It's in a jrpg and I've never lost a jrpg either, but that doesnt invalidate the fun I had playing?
It will be interesting to see if they can spice the game up with some additions, currently its an enjoyable time, but I don't think I can see the potential I saw in gwent? Maybe I've just no imagination
Really enjoying it, but by the time you get the ifrit card you will easily win most matches with the same deck.
Nah they can keep more Queens Blood. I know there’s no defined plans for DLC yet but if this was one of them just scrap it. It’s entirely not fun and a absolute pace killer in one of the early chapters. Worst part of the game honest.
@milonorth I had a similar experience. I normally hate card games in RPG's. I forced myself to "get good" and it really grew on me. The payoff is worth it if you stick it out.
@Andy22385 after hearing about it pre release I was put off. Then at a certain point in the game it’s forced on you, and oh god I’m so glad it was. Genuinely an amazing time, super fun and relaxing. Love it.
@nocdaes does it really matter? In the other card games you just reloaded if you lost anyway as you didn't want to lose rare cards. This stops all that nonsense. And it's the actual game why it's acclaimed. Which it should be. And I'm glad you can't find cards in the wild. It's much better for them to be given as quest rewards. Stops having to Google in case you missed one in a chest. I do agree there should be more opponents though but just seems like you're complaining for the sake of it. They could have half asked thr game but it's the most in depth card game in a FF by far
@Andy22385 I'll scratch this one down as a generational difference...!
Incidentally, I'm not saying they should have done everything (or indeed anything) on my shopping list. I'm merely highlighting that after just 6 completed chapters I have a long list of things that could improve it. How can a development team spending years really suggest this is the best implementation? It feels rushed and last minute if anything.
@nocdaes I mean it's widely praised so it seems like it's a good implementation and I'm not sure about the generational thing, I've been playing FF since the 90s and this is probably my favorite card game system.
Stand-alone queen’s blood game when where you can go up against various FF characters from every FF game.
Would be amazing if Square did that especially if it’s released as a multi platform game as well
It’s very enjoyable and I am glad it’s in the game but I don’t find it as well executed as Gwent. Positioning has too much importance
