The Hunter x Hunter video game project that was announced earlier in the year is now officially coming to PS5 β and we've also got confirmation that it's a 2D fighting game, and not some kind of arena brawler, as was speculated by some fans.
To give its full title, Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is being developed by Eighting β a Japanese studio that specialises in 2D fighters. Most recently, it released DNF Duel, which is a rock solid brawler that also adapts an existing property in Dungeon Fighter Online.
What's more, Nen x Impact will actually be playable at Evo Japan, which takes place in late April. As such, it shouldn't be long until we learn much more about this promising project. Right now, we don't really know how far along its development is, but the fact it's in a publicly playable state is obviously a positive sign.

Massive fan of HunterxHunter and think it's far and away the best shonen anime. I normally couldn't care less about these anime style fighters, but my love for this universe might actually convince me to get this game. If it's better than a 6/10, I'll get it I reckon
I'm pretty sure the last big anime to get a 2D fighter was DBZ FighterZ, right? Nice to finally see another one after oh so many 3D outings. And it's Hunter X Hunter to boot! Can't wait for it!
First of all, I am not impressed by the games visuals, but also it doesn't help that I have been spoiled by Arcsys games amazing 2.5D visuals in their games.
Anyway, I am happy that it is a 2D fighter instead of another arena fighter. With Eightning, you know the gameplay will be fun, but balance is another story, lol.
Even if the visuals aren't great, if the gameplay is amazing then i will be down for it. 2D Fighters like Guilty Gear Strive and Granblue fantasy verses rising, all look amazing, but they aren't even half as fun to play as they look.
All in all, I hope this game will have a little more complexity and craziness than current Arcsys games(Strive, Granblue, and dragon ball fighter Z),and even DNF Duel, while including accessible and novelty features that games like Strive brought(e.g dash and other micro buttons, rollback, cross play, and better tutorials).
Heck, if they want their game to stand out more from the anime fighting game pack, they should improve on things that games like dbfz, Strive, granblue, and etc. fell flat on, e.g Innovative story mode, Single player content, great and bug free player lobbies, stable servers, more feature reach training mode, and better match making.
Thank goodness. I'm excited being a HxH fan and I have liked almost all of Eighting's games. Hopefully Bushiroad has given them something decent to work with in terms of budget. I don't know if much in the way of story will be here. I do expect it to be fun in terms of gameplay since Eighting is making it.
(When it's 2024 and there's still no big console fighting game for BLEACH)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!π€¬π
Letβs go! A team 2D fighter made my Eighting. Time to make it feel like a 1 player game
Ooh hunter x hunter. I thought Neferpitou was pretty cool.
