Well, we didn't see this coming. Previously, Capcom announced that 3DS RPG Monster Hunter Stories was getting a PS4 port this summer — and now the publisher has revealed that it'll actually release alongside the sequel, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin (which is currently available on Nintendo Switch and PC). Both games launch on the 14th June, so you'd best keep your schedule open.
In case you're not familiar, the Stories titles are turn-based adventures in which you battle alongside beasts as a monster tamer (rather than a hunter). The gameplay loop involves rearing your own creatures, and training them so that you can progress through a story-driven campaign.
Will you be trying the two Monster Hunter Stories games this summer? Ride a rathalos in the comments section below.

This is nice. Assuming it’ll be bundled, too. I never played the first one.
I thought it was weird that Stories 2 wasn't dated.
It's a fantastic monster-collecting/battling JRPG. Only thing holding it back was the Switch hardware (unless you played it on PC) causing it to chug in certain areas, but that shouldn't be an issue on PS4. The story sorta has a 'How to Train Your Dragon' vibe to it early on.
Hope we see a physical release bundle
Both games? Sweet. It's good to see originally non Playstation games come to Sony's systems.
Now Octopath 1 Square???
Interesting, 2 of the big Switch 3rd party exclusive 2021 RPGs come to PS in the same month (MH Stories 2 and SMTV). Will Square Enix complete the trio with a Bravely Default II PS port?
In any case, I'd imagine Octopath 1 would come to PS the same day that Octopath 2 comes to Xbox given Octopath 1 is currently delisted from the Switch eshop.
Was hoping if it ever came that it'd be on ps5 but I'll take it. Finally time to try these
Would recommend the first game to anyone curious, it's a fun RPG with some really addictive elements.
Heard the second improves on almost everything, but I only played a couple of hours on Switch.
Oh snap I’m so glad I waited on buying the other ones now. So many good games to play!
@ShogunRok I finished the main story on switch. It's a surprisingly decent game. Feels a lot like a pokemon game including the performance issues which should be much relieved on ps4.
I confess It's the game that got me into the series and i can recommend it even if one doesn't like the main series.
Like the main series it also has a high rank aka all new endgame once the story is over.
I do expect the next entry in the series to make it big. It's almost there. Needs more budget.
I waited for years to buy this game on Switch but never pulled the trigger. Very happy it is coming to PlayStation.
@tameshiyaku The official site says there's a physical bundle of both games together on PS4:

Scroll down to "Product Info" and select PS4.
Remember, Nintendo platforms are for Nintendo's own games (until they jump to PC too which they will one day) and the third party games they either fund themselves (which may move later like Wonderful 101), or bought timed exclusivity for.
And then there's the games that are elsewhere but Nintendo ends up publishing on their platform just to have it.
Stories 2 is excellent! I gave up halfway through the first, but 2 on PC had me hooked in a way I never would have guessed.
2nd game was fantastic though it did drag at times. Easily one of the better Monster Tamer games in my opinion.
@Haruki_NLI Expecting Nintendo to put 1st party games on anything but Nintendo hardware is hilarious. Sony are doing it because they can't afford not too like MS but Nintendo don't spend $300M+ on a single game so they can quite easily sit back and just print money with the Switch and providing they don't screw up the Switch 2.
Will the Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin Deluxe Kit content be sold separately / made available after launch?
Just realizing that after a streak of Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, Demons Soul and Sekiro, plus Dark Soul in perspective, for me MH Stories 2 is going to be the perfect game to chill and cool down before Elden Ring DLC and Shin Megami Tensei V
So it’s like Pokemon?
Damn, wish I could return my copy of Stories 2 I bought in December on PC. I got it to play over my mini winter break but didn’t even get around to touching it. I’d much rather play it on my living room TV on my PS5.
First world problems lol
@WanderingBullet Should be sold separate like it is on Switch but will warn pre-order items are locked to pre-order meaning if you won't ever get them if you don't pre-order.
@Arnna Kind off though its more story driving then PM. Its not open world but it does have open(ish) areas but like Pokemon Legends and you can freely explore them while riding the Monsters as well both ground and in air. Its a really good spin off imo especially if you're already a fan of Monster Hunter.
@DennisReynolds Thanks. I would prefer getting the physical version and then buying the Deluxe Kit separately.
@Grumblevolcano true thanks! Physical has a June 14th release date.
MH stories is a remaster not a port it even says so in the trailer for it.
Wasn’t expecting Stories 2 to come out to PS as well though.
Never finished on switch.
Wasn’t expecting them to be out in June though, hoping for a physical release so I can ask for them for birthday especially if they are bundled together
@DennisReynolds Nevermind, someone on Reddit posted that the physical collection for Switch is exclusive to the US and the physical collection for PS4 is exclusive to Europe.
