Avengers, Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad... that's 3.
But if you go back to the old days, one or 2 of those ultimate alliance games were fun for a bit. And there was a PS2 era Justice League game that was pretty good. 😉

Already not interested adore Marvel and always down for more Marvel games but a "Hero shooter"? This ain't it

It's not the "hero shooter" part that bothers me, just the "shooter" part. If it's a 6v6 game where you actually use each hero/villain's powers and traversal abilities, then I'm all for giving it a go. But if it's another Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League situation (Thunderbolts: Kill the Avengers?🤷), where every character has guns regardless of whether or not it makes thematic sense, then I'm out.

This can't be good. I can just picture Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League, all over again.

Yay, I’m looking forward to this. They’ve done such great stuff with the MCU recently. Im hoping for a AAAA $80 6v6 constantly online action shooter, with broken servers, limited modes at launch. They can drip feed the modes and patches. There should be an in game store where you pay to win and can buy new cosmetics between $15-$40. I have no doubt this will be a great success. . .

The first half of the headline drew me in and the second half pulled me back out.

Good point you are right that there were some fun ones back in the day although I wonder if they would hold up today.

If it's a better version of OW gameplay I'm interested. Doesn't matter if it's a live service or gacha type.

Marvel comics for the past 70 years have been preparing the teritory for a 6v6 live service shooter.

I always say we don't have enough Marvel games in the industry, finally that's being remedied! Hopefully Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla Games, Sucker Punch, Bend Studio, Team ASOBI and a resurrected Japan Studio are all working on their own Marvel games! 🤞🤞

Don’t have high hopes, super hero games shouldn’t be shooters, they should be brawlers. Make a 6v6 Powerstone like fighting game w/ destructible environments.

Guardians of the Galaxy was good, as are the Spider-Man games, but is there any reason, any logic, any hope, that this will turn out good and be a hit? I don’t see why it would? 🤷🏻‍♂️

@BeerIsAwesome now why would you include TF2? is counting old games actually fair ? TF2 is almost 2 decades old and does not receive any updates to call it a live service . Apex is battle royale , what the hell is foamstars, and rogue company is deader than dead. R6 seige is a tactical FPS with classes , calling it a hero shooter is a stretch . the only direct competitor to overwatch is paladins , and it looks and plays like it came out before TF2 . valorant is a counter strike, tactical fps that could pass for a hero shooter but …it’s just counter strike

Theres not many hero shooters in the fashion of overwatch at all. just battle royale or tactical fps

A hero shooter doesn't sound fun.

It’s not an inherently bad idea even. It just feels like it would have worked a lot better 8 years ago.

A hero shooter emphasizes "hero" characters that have distinctive abilities and/or weapons that are specific to them. That is basically what the operators are. They are named playable characters with lore and back stories, and distinctive abilities and/or weapons that are specific to them.

This is also why Apex kinda falls under the same thing as hero shooter. The Legends in the game are each different from the other due to their abilities, playstyle, personality, and backstory.

Who are the other characters? I see Black Panther, Iron Man, Namor and I think Magneto...
