The cult classic Gravity Rush series might be getting another chance to shine on modern hardware. The PS4-exclusive sequel, Gravity Rush 2, is apparently being given the remaster treatment, bringing Kat's sophomore adventure to PS5 and, down the road, PC too.
That's according to one source over on the Team Alua Gravity Rush Discord server. The user known as Orangee previously claimed that a Gravity Rush movie is in production, and that we'd get our first glimpse of it at CES this year. This turned out to be true, and now, Orangee is back, claiming to know about a Gravity Rush 2 remaster.
They say the game is currently in playtesting, and that it'll come to PS5 first before eventually being ported to PC at a later date. Apparently, we should expect to hear about the project in May of this year.
It's difficult to say if this holds any weight; it seems Orangee has at least some reliability thanks to leaking knowledge of the CES movie clip, but this is just one person's account. We've a few months to wait before we see if this is legitimate.
What do you think? Would you like to see Gravity Rush 2 return on PS5 and PC? Dive into the comments section below.

This and that new Astro Bot game rumor tells me we might be getting another PlayStation Showcase this year.
Wow this was unexpected. I love how different Gravity Rush was. Hard to control at first, but you get the hang of it. Should have kept this series going.
another remaster of a ps4 game its a nope from me
just give it a 60fps patch on ps5 thats enough
Given Stellar Blade releases April 26th, we're probably going to get a May PS Showcase like last year.
This is the one remaster I'm ok with solely because it's something that isn't one of Sony's usual generic line-up of titles. Gravity Rush actually getting a proper chance to find an audience would fantastic. Hopefully it would convince Sony to actually make more unique games for once this generation
Best news of the day!
The first one was great on Vita and had a lovely 60fps PS4 version , so to see the sequel coming at hopefully 4k60fps will be lovely.
I’d hope Gravity Rush Remastered gets PS5 enhanced and maybe a reprint as well. They’re great games and I’d purchase the original without a doubt as I only have the VITA version and prefer TV play these days.
The second one I could be convinced, just depends if they allow $10 upgrades or if I’ll need to chalk $50+ on it.
My hype is through the roof. Ever since that digital foundry video I've been eager to replay this in 60fps, I just never thought it would happen.
Gravity Rush 2 is easily one of my top 5 games of the last gen. The moment-to-moment gameplay is unlike anything else in the 3rd person action genre, it's very refreshing, and the world is a wonder to explore: So beautiful, cosy and mysterious. If I were to live in any video game world it would be Hekesville.
I really hope more people take the opportunity to play it, maybe then we might even get a sequel, though won't dare to dream.
Cool for the fans I own them both on PS4 I probably double dip if it's a reprint. I would love to see a PS5 ICO game.
If it's $10 sure I'll bite. Gravity Rush is simply sublime. I really miss Japan Studio. 😢
I am so torn on this. I’m tired of supporting the remaster machine, but… I mean, it’s Gravity Rush. It needs the support.
Best news today, especially it coming to PC.
I don't really know if this rumor has any weight to it. Japan Studio has closed and Team Gravity moved on long ago so I don't know who would even be doing it. I guess Bluepoint(?) since they did GR Remastered. Don't know if they'd really need a new version personally, but still happy to see.
Never got around to either Gravity Rush game so if this ends up true, I’ll definitely be getting it.
Yay, another remaster tie-in with a movie/tv series. Just, no… The only thing that this IP really needs is a live service MMO spin-off (but I prefer a proper sequel)
If Sony want a remaster to sell well, all they have to do is release Bloodborne with a 60fps update and 4K HDR and it will sell like hotcakes! Not taking anything away from Gravity Rush, but I know what I would spend my money on!! 😄
On one hand, I’m okay with this but on the other, I’m really, really getting burnt out on remasters. Pretty soon this will be the generation most known for remasters.
As burnout on remasters as I'm tbh, I would be okay with this. Even if it doesn't lead to anything new for the franchise in the long run atleast the Gravity Rush IP gets more exposure.
Definitely made my day, I hope the PC guys flock to it I want it to sell as much as possible. Weird they didn't start with the first one but I'll take what I can get!
Now Vita is dead, I want this on my Steam Deck. Ghost of Tsushima too - hope both these rumours are true
I'm genuinely excited for a remaster of this, especially on PC. Gravity Rush 2 in native ultrawide at 60 fps will be an absolute treat.
I'm finally getting my GR sequel on an OLED handheld, even if it's not one made by Sony!
Still, why isn't this a dual-pack of both games?
I just completed the original GR2 a few weeks back and that's enough for me, but the game could definitely benefit from a remaster in terms of performance, so I guess this release makes some sense.
@Ralizah Sony's current strategy seems to be:
what was the point of ps4 b/c then? also, sony could easily offer a $10 upgrade path for such remasters on ps5 (as they have already done in some cases) but lately is content with exploiting its uers with full priced products instead. remastering ps3 games on ps5 would make a heck of a lot more sense but that hasn't crossed anyone's mind at sony.
@BookhouseBoy but you can already play the game on your ps5. that's why backwards compatibility exists.
Wake up babe, new Playstation Remaster. What do you mean you still haven't had time to sleep after the last ones?
Why? I love Gravity Rush, but the second one still looks better than the majority of games releasing today.
Hope this won't be used to gauge interest in the IP...
Another remaster we didn't need. PS5 the generation of unneeded remasters. You can really tell Sony has no games ready to release this gen.
I haven’t even finished the first one yet. I put it on hold for some other game last year. I want to revisit it though
@BookhouseBoy i see. i didn't know gravity rush 2 had gone up that much. i own it along with the amazon exclusive print of gravity rush remastered on ps4 (north american version, physical) and that one is off the charts... on average the north american version sells for $150CAD on ebay.
Why only the first game? This is a niche series and it’s not even standalone story wise. Also I hope this isn’t full price on steam.
There is literally no shortage of things to play and people are still complaining about the library and remasters.
The irony? Everyone has their double standards, like a Bloodborne Remaster or will buy games they had no interests in the first place during Playstation showcases like Helldivers 2.
Gravity Rush 2 deserves another chance, even after how hard they pushed promotions the first time around.
This is great news, so long there is an upgrade path from the PS4 version!
You know Sony's hit a creative rock bottom when they actually start selling remasters of the games that I like that nobody bought, even after they can the studio that made it.
I don't know how to feel about this. GR is one of my favorite series of any platform of any generation and is the type of game that is the reason I buy PS's, and And they're actually resurrecting it after sending it out to die with the worst marketing in PS history, so I should be happy it might keep it alive.
On the other hand I've already bought 2 versions of the first game (Vita + PS4 remaster), and bought the sequel once, played it in it's PS4 version on my PS5, and now they want to sell the same exact game with a 60fps patch it should have had on the PS4 Pro let alone the PS5 as a "full priced" remaster for a game I already played on PS5.
It sounds like some of this remaster-mania is really just about physical reprints for out of print games being justified digitally as a re-release. But that used to be the "Classics" that sold for cheaper as re-issues. Not "remasters" (which is not a remake, it's literally just the same release with some edges polished and patches applied.)
The irony is even if they revitalize the IP, who could even make a sequel after they dropped the studio behind it, and recently dropped the only other studio with the same kind of mindset that could have made another one? GR and it's "slice of life" world are very very Japanese, and Sony's fresh out of Japanese studios save Asobi that can't even make a follow up to a tech demo and a VR classic in 5 years.
You would think that they would also release the first Gravity Rush on PC. If we can get a whole lot more people playing the games, that would be awesome. Maybe Bokeh Game Studio will make a third game if they sell well and are asked.
Hopefully they price it right. But I guess we are still lacking new games and it's sad they shut down studios like Japan Studios and London Studios.
A remaster. I'm unsure about this. Do I enjoy Gravity Rush yes, but do I think this is just a joke of company logic as usual also yes. As much as I like the series to me I think if they already barely got sales from people prior, servers down and more why bother. They could have put it on PC earlier kept the servers up. But nope. They could have done many things to better market this game.
The series deserved to be experienced but I mean why Loco Roco and other PSP to PS4 remasters, did those sell well? Don't think so other than fans, not many new people bought it.
Granted on PC then only PS platforms I get that it is a new audience but a large one highly doubt it. I mean any Japan Studios games would be fair on PC, many Indies and their games easily can blend in and be appealing but would they sell well to Sony's interest in profits I doubt it. That's why with so many teams they got shut down.
Splitterhead by Bokeh aka Team Siren/Gravity are still working on that horror game. Claphands did their golf game then the Everybody's Golf/Tennis series. Ico and other teams staff went their ways as well. Their contracts were up, they said no and only those at Asobi are left or whatever of the Japanese localisation team.
Sony doesn't actually care about the series, they just know as long as it's the latest entry in a series to port, or prep it for a TV show/movie they are good. Push whatever PS4 relevant IP over, less work, less messing with source code/engines. They don't care about Ratchet 2016, Uncharted 1-3, Gravity Rush 1, maybe a God of War 1 remake who knows.
If it's the latest version they will do it they don't care about offering 'EVERYTHING' or 'ENOUGH' on PC they just want the latest entry on there. Why laziness. Is it a lot of work to make all games possible on the platform of course but at the same time who bothered when it came to remasters on PS4 of PS3 games, many people. Who cares graphically or oh the source code/tools used with the engines to work them out on PC. People just want to please these games. They don't care always about the graphics if story/gameplay they want to experience not oh we have to because company logic about offering them.
I'm not buying it I'm happy with my PS4 copy I still have yet to finish the game (had to restart it due to the sucking in objects ability that was buggy, it was like my circle button was held down but constantly the whole time, they didn't get time to patch that. Maybe I was doing it then saved and it bugged out on save reloads) but beat enough of Gravity Rush 1 Remastered (not seen Vita copies of the original that's why have the Remaster) to almost Platinum it.
Do I want the series to get more support absolutely. But with the remasters of the PSP Loco Roco, Patapon and more did it make any difference in sales? Do people outside the obvious audience size actually care Sony? Tell me that please I'd really like to know. Because I highly doubt it got out there enough or noticed by casuals that much.
I love niche games and games with good ideas. I'm all about game mechanics I don't care if it sells well or is popular, it's about the game's content, not popular games with barely anything gameplay exciting in them people over hype nostalgia for by many Indies these days with the most pathetic Platformer/Racing games I've ever seen banking on nostaglia and making fangame style original games as Banjo/Sonic/Mario 64 clones with ability refinements, BORING. Give me something new, new worlds/characters doesn't cut it if the gameplay is the SAME THING OVER AND OVER.
If 5/6th gen developers made their games stand out why are Indie devs and customers so nostalgically lazy for comfort. It's disgusting and why innovation goes no where is people want garbage, emotional appeal and repetition sold to them.
I'll never get better AI, enemies learning/forgetting other enemies or the player's moves, better animations. We get garbage repeats to get our money. Just get stuffed game industry actually make something of yourself then graphics, lighting, formulaic design and favourites resold to us for cheap money and emotional connection nonsense to manipulate customers. It's disgusting.
We can have fans of Japan Studios different teams all day talk about how great Gravity Rush and more are but if they barely marketed them well, most audiences don't care other than the audiences that bought them in the first place. Why bother. Is it going to sell I doubt it. It will be digital only too I bet even more reason I won't buy it.
I have no reason to buy a PS5 as it is, let alone why I'd buy a remaster.
What PS4 IPs I guess get a pass even if they are niche and popular while anything older or anything actually NEW and not just the same formulaic open world, cinematic linear stuff Sony has been doing since Uncharted/Last of Us got popular besides the other PS3 games that tried to follow them and PS4+ it's been since 2014 Infamous Second Son or Order 1886 in 2015 or 2016+ all the Ratchet 2016, Horizon, God of War level eh I just gave up on.
Forget it I guess of old IPs or anything actually new because who would bother with those un-relevant IPs right Sony?
@Gravity_Bear To me like with Rift Apart then 2016 or Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy than a 1-4 collection they don't care and if it's the latest product of a series they will put it up there.
They can't be bothered with older games, older source code/engines, story, gameplay relevance. They don't care for story or all entries in a series being available on PC.
I agree they should consider the first game being brought over but they are too lazy to do that. Latest is all they care about.
Hard to take this anything other than Sony sending Kat out to die. Again...
Gravity Rush is a fantastic series. It deserves more recognition from the wider gaming community. It is just as good as the Insomniac Spider man series.
But if a remaster is only of the the 2nd game, it will do little to draw in a new audience. Something between a remaster and a remake is needed. Both games need to be packed together, or ideally blended together into a seamless narrative. The story, while very good, makes little sense if you're just jumping in at Gravity Rush 2 with no context.
4K & smooth 60 fps kat (and raven)? I'm in 😃
@wiiware It'll be 4K 144fps locked for me, especially for a game of this nature. Anything that involves flying around need to be at least triple digits in framerates at least.
@Porco I don't think Sony actually values PS4 backwards compatibility on PS5, rather that it was like a checkbox in a list of things that had to be done to convince people to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 instead of just sticking with PS4 and/or moving to a competing platform.
@SweetSummerShunv Although my oled tv has both 4K and HDR, it didn't support 120hz, so 60 fps is more than enough for me
I love the Gravity Rush games so I'd buy a remaster of 2 for sure but, eventhough I think there's a better chance of this happening with a post-Jim Ryan run PlayStation, I still think it's 95% not likely.
@Porco Put in your PS4 copy it will still work. 😉
@Grumblevolcano I'm sorry am I missing something you can play PS4 games on a PS5 can't you?
@Flaming_Kaiser The point was that the PS5 remasters of PS Studios PS4 games keep coming even though PS4 games can be played on PS5 via backwards compatibility so Sony may have added the feature for optics rather than because they truly wanted it added.
@Grumblevolcano Let's be real they didn't do it do to make you their friend. I love games and of can play older games also great but if i get a classic and it's been made better I gladly pay. And I can make my own choices if I get the new one or buy and play the older cheaper version if I don't think it's worth. And with the money they make we have had quite some fantastic games I loved.
