Amazon has now officially announced a second season of its overwhelmingly successful Fallout TV adaptation shall be shot and released on its Amazon Prime streaming service. A second batch of episodes appeared likely after the series was handed $25 million of Californian tax credits, but now it's official.
Within the first four days of its release, Fallout became one of Amazon Prime's most-watched TV shows ever and is the most popular season since The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power.
The popularity surrounding the Fallout TV show has led to gigantic sales spikes for the more recent games, with Fallout 4 purchases up by 7,500 per cent in Europe. Fallout 76, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas also charted in the top 10 best-selling games last week across the continent. Next week, the PS5 version of Fallout 4 will launch with new graphical modes and Creation Club content.
In our Fallout TV show review, we said: "A totally brilliant adaptation of Bethesda's RPG series, Fallout is a canon story that more than holds its own against the plots of its video game counterparts. Series fanatics won't want to miss this."
Without spoiling too much of the ending, where do you hope season two takes Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul? Let us know in the comments below.

Can't wait! First season was fantastic in my opinion. I hate Bethesda RPGs because there are too many distractions (which is beautifully joked about in the show), but I do like the world and the lore. Having it all condensed to a focused story is a much better way for me to enjoy the world Bethesda crafted.
That much was obvious from the ending. 😅
@GamingFan4Lyf Interplay crafted the world, Bethesda just purchased it and butchered it.
Hope the show is good tho, gonna give it a shot this weekend
I don't much like hearing Fallout referred to as Bethesda's game series. I get they own the rights, but that's like saying Disney's Iron-Man. It's off. Excited to start the show tomorrow night.
I was stupified today when I started episode 3 and was met with a minute of ads. I'm a prime member and now I get ads unless I pay more? Crazy
Surprised not a better Fallout reference for the quip/subtitle/lack of a better term coming to mind, for the article.
I get it's more 4/76 maybe 3 or New Vegas than probably 1 & 2 as I mean some people played them, some people may get those references but most will get the later entries references instead and it is Bethesda controlled like Disney does I guess of ownership of the IP.
Always appreciated the Fallout world, alt history, it's interesting angle of the vaults, the characters, Nuka Cola and more.
Like Wolfenstein or Resistance excellent spins on alt history.
Never played the Fallout games they aren't my thing.
Thing is the trailer had me skeptical. A S2 is something but I can't comment on it.
Does that mean they finally got the hang of video game adaptations now? I doubt it.
But something is working I guess or audiences expectations are different who knows.
I still think some are just too 'we have to make it for THIS audinece' not saying it should be only for fans but at the same time some adaptations have so much garbage in them that I just can't stand of jokes or some dialogue to just settings.
I don't even know anything about the originals but you can still tell they feel off because they fit the movie/tv show audience direction or just those people involved.
I don't always trust the oh Ubisoft, Nintendo and Bethesda staff were involved. REALLY because it doesn't come across that way enough. IT feels like they give the generalisation and their input is so minimal while the tv/movie side has so much of themselves in it I can't be bothered to watch it.
That and if it is the video game staff or book staff had input and like the works or not I mean to me I myself find them still a bit strange or just find some western media kind of eh of some angles and I don't like many of their angles and never have.
Some are passable but I mean even some movies I can go yep that scene/set piece or location and character are no different from many from the 2000s it's just now it has more modern garbage in it or these modern tweaks.
I don't want straight from 2000s but some tweaks or just modern I want something different but that's asking too much as why would they do that. Go with what works (or a lowest audience entry point with bad writing but probably fine everything else maybe or maybe a few details aren't great) or what THEY want. Pass.
The Fallout community scares me.
it was a really good show in my opinion probably the best game to tv adaption made.
9/10
I wish I could get invested since I love the series...up until NV. 4 and 76 put the nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned. They may as well have been a tv series anyway. No choice in this game about choices, but hey, the aesthetic is there! I guess the thing is that I just want a good Fallout GAME, and I doubt we will ever get another.
Pretty much a slam dunk easy decision. Cannot wait for S2!!
It was honestly just a great rendition of the source material. Looking forward to the next season. Although Maximus wasnt really performed well. It felt like I was getting ptsd from the godawful Finn character in the recent star wars trilogy.
That aside it was overall excellent.
@zhoont I understand where you are coming from. But at the same time, I am from the era where you paid for a cable connection and still had to sit through 15 minutes of ads per show. And there was no pausing live TV so you could just fast forward through them back then either.
I feel as if people today have had it good for so long with free internet and modestly priced streaming services that they've forgotten what the norm used to be. The fact that these services are having to turn back to ads proves just what a loss leader the current model is.
A great TV show honoring an even greater gaming franchise.
Well deserved! A stellar show.
"Okey Dokey".
(Forced to say more or can't post.)
Might get into this tv show. We might get a new season before a new Fallout game. Not sure I want to play the existing ones like Fallout 4 or 76 (due to the jank and repetitive structure), but I want to see what all the Fallout fuss is about.
@LifeGirl It does make me laugh when people say 'streaming is worse than cable now'. I bet those people never really watched cable. Far fewer shows and movies to watch, no pausing or downloading to watch on the go, beholden to TV schedules, ads (or at least far more ads) and it cost a lot. I hate using the word 'entitled' but if people expect to watch the entirety of the mountain of stuff released today for like $15/month then what other word is there?
@WafflingHearts Let's say a season of Fallout takes 2 years on average. I doubt we'll get F5 until at least 4 years after TES6 (so 2030?). We'll probably get 3 or 4 more seasons of this show before F5 unless something changes
@Ludacritz They own the series now, so it is theirs. You wouldn't say a used car that you bought is still owned by the previous owner.
Granted, a different company created the series, but they no longer own it and Bethesda has made more games in the series at this point.
@LifeGirl Where tf do you get free internet? lol
Amazing show. Better (by large, I would say) than HBO's The Last of Us for me. But then it's also different because TLOU was the same story from the game (more or less)...
@KundaliniRising333 That character was so badly done, and the guy is not the greatest actor either.
I don't think I've seen a single comment praising that character, pretty widely despised.
I loved the show Walter Groggins is always brilliant, and he nailed the ghoul.
Lucy is great to, and I feel sort of bad saying this, but my gosh she is so goofy looking. Far too many face only shots
@WolfyTn Your internet connection itself is not free this is true. But what is on the internet has been mostly free for the better part of two decades.
Youtube is a great example of this. Billions of hours of content to watch for absolutely nothing. But because they have the nerve to put two or three ads in each video suddenly people are absolutely outraged. Calling for the end of Google and their ''money-hungry'' practices. People today simply do not know just how privileged they are which is why when asked to pay a couple of quid extra they feel as if it is some major scandal.
@LifeGirl I lived that normal. It does not ever need to return to that, and I would pay money rather than watch 5 minutes of ads for a 50 minute episode. However, I was already paying for no ads because prime video was ad-free. Now I need to pay more, and that's annoying. Did Amazon really need to eek out that little bit of money? Guess so... Sucks.
@Fyz306903 Won’t surprise me if it takes 6 years. It’s shame they could’ve capitalised on this like Last of Us, Witcher etc.
@Crimson_Ridley Incorrect. Bethesda made Fallout 3 & 4. Obsidian made NV, and 76 was made by a B-tier studio that never launched a game before. So, technically BGS and Black Isle have put out the same amount of games.
Just as there will be new Metal Gear games, but Metal Gear is Kojima.
Does the main Brotherhood of Steel character (Maximus???) 0become more likeable. I find his scenes hard to watch as I'm waiting for some redeeming quality to appear. The BoS are kind of jerks so I get why the character kind of acts like that but I just need some portion of his personality to be endearing, I'm only on episode 3 or 4 but I kind of just skip past most of his scenes,
@Ludacritz Technically not incorrect, Bethesda Softworks owns the franchise and published the games whilst Bethesda Game Studios was spun off from Bethesda Softworks, so more games have been released under Bethesda's ownership.
I'm a huge fan of Metal Gear and Kojima, but the fact of the matter is, Konami own the franchise, it's not Kojima's.
This show was everything I wished the last of us tv show was. I enjoyed tlou TV show but it needed way more zombies, and atleast one creepy horror type episode. It was just lacking. Fallout was absolutely fun from start to finish.
Everyone at work praising this tremendously and I was like "it's okay".
I stand by that. I just hope it picks up in season 2.
(Remember, Breaking Bad series one was okay, and that really picked up in S2)
Just finished it last night, very entertaining. I’m now pumped for the PS5 version of fallout 4!
@Crimson_Ridley I don't disagree. The MGS comparison was more for the court of public opinion. Bethesda didn't create the world of Fallout, so it rustles my jimmies a bit is all.
