Capcom has announced its blue bomber Mega Man will be inspiring a new wave of content in its somewhat forgotten mech shooter Exoprimal. The game's fourth major update, arriving on 17th April 2024, adds six new beta variant exosuits, all inspired by Mega Man. They'll be equipped with new weapons and abilities, all of which you can see in action in the trailer above.
The collaboration with Mega Man forms just part of Exoprimal's season four content drop. There's also going to be a new 10-player co-op challenge mode called Time Loop Rebellion, custom matches and full crossplay support, and a further six exosuits on top of what Mega Man is bringing. Not all of this content arrives for free, though, as the trailer mentions select items "must be purchased separately".
Released for PS5 and PS4 in July last year, we had a lot of praise to share in our Exoprimal PS5 review. Having awarded it a 7/10, we loved the varied playstyles of its exosuits and intense co-op combat. "A white-knuckle fusion of Overwatch 2 and Gears of War, the excellent Exoprimal is one of the best co-op shooters in quite some time." One complaint was a lack of content at launch, which as the game enters its fourth season, appears to have been addressed.
Are you still playing Exoprimal? Could this Mega Man update bring you back? Let us know in the comments below.

Come to think of it (I never think about Megaman, believe it or not), why is there not a Metroid Prime type evolution for the character?
A more adult version to actual bring some life into this character that nobody cares about anymore. FPS or a 3rd person shooter maybe.
This one just looks like a cheap knock off movie licensed game and... He's on roller skates lol?
Didn't know this game was still alive. I never hear anyone talking about it.
10 player co-op challenge, is that the entire player base then?
Who even plays this garbage still? Lol
@Specky I'm with you on this. Studios keep churning "nostalgia" dlc in the hopes that it will sell. When they would be better off reinventing those characters or IP's to suit modern day tastes or the franchise they are being introduced into. Bungie did the same thing with ghost busters recently and that was such an insult to the fans of both IP's and to the work they themselves had been putting in for over a decade.
@Specky I think there was going to be some sort of gritty reboot/new entry for the series called Maverick Hunter or something, but it, along with a ton of other planned megaman titles, were canceled out of nowhere back in the 2000s. A Megaman Prime styled affair would be cool as hell, we just need capcom to do ANYTHING with the franchise other than use it as crossover fuel
Just give me Legends instead, Capcom! Please!
This isn’t the return of the Blue Bomber we want!
I think it’s time for a new Mega Man game. You know this Capcom.
So annoying Mega Man 11 did great and people loved it after that hideous era of no Mega Man for an eon we got that and it felt like a new era would start. Instead The Blue Bomber got thrown back into the basement again for 6 years and this is the first big thing they do with him since? Honestly it feels like PS3/360 Era CAPCOM is slowly starting to rear it's ugly head again 😭
Fun fact. I only ever played 7 games of exoprimal. Won every single one. Enjoyed it but sold it very early on, didn't think it had staying power.
@Keyblade-Dan We've gotten quite a few mega man related stuff since 11... Mostly collections and 2 mobile games, but he didn't just go back into the basement.
EDIT: There is supposed to be a movie come out... Don't know what happened to since 20th Century Fox was working on it, but then they got bought by disney
I always thought was Capcom was limiting itself with dinosaurs. I mean your premise is about portals that rain down dinosaurs is already wacky enough, you could do ANY type of enemy and be limited only by your imagination. Just adding memorable things to shoot at and cool collabs with other Capcom IP should be enough to turn it around.
The game was hot garbage and it was forgotten a week after release. Push Square dropped the ball when they gave this a good review.
Man, I really just wanted a new Dino Crisis in the vein of the orginal. :/
Still no Pragmata though
I’m not sure this will bring Exoprimal back to life.
It’s more like using a defibrillator to shock a person that was declared dead hours ago 🤣
Imagine how much more money they'd of probably made if they put this games budget into a new Dino Crisis instead.
Some amount of suits just had to have their live service game.
The game is trash, nobody cared when it released and still nobody cares now. Your review is an embarrassment and please stop trying to defend it in articles like this.
@Specky There was going to be that "reboot" of Mega Man X, which seems like it would rip off or be inspired by Metroid Prime, but it looked gritty and, well, not Mega Man...so thankfully we didn't get that. If that's the evolution you want for him, then I'm sorry, but that won't do. Also, plenty of people including me still care about Mega Man, so...yeah...
@GoldenBot
That won't do lol?
Imagine if the Metroid fans reacted this way back in the day.
Things evolve. Megaman has been in mediocre obscurity for decades now. It'll either die or they'll have to do something new with the IP.
A gritty Megaman sounds awesome. What we get now is some kiddy rollerskates, not even single A garbage
