Today marks a momentous occasion for Sea of Thieves: it expands to all-new platforms with a PS5 release, Season 12 content expands the game for all players (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC), and developer Rare makes its debut on a PlayStation console. Early access players have been testing the PS5 version for the past five days now, but in just a short amount of time, the standard edition releases and opens the floodgates for all.
Just like the past three Xbox ports (Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, and Grounded), our Sea of Thieves PS5 review speaks of an excellent conversion to Sony's current-gen console. Having awarded the game a 9/10, we declared it one of the "most approachable live service games on the market" — a very good thing now it's into a 12th season of content.
As for what Season 12 is bringing to the game, there'll be new weapons, more traversal methods, and tools. New guns include the double-barrel pistol and throwing knives. Will you be jumping in today? Let us know in the comments below.

Really think a Black Flag MMO would have been better.
