Stellar Blade was the best-selling physical game in the UK last week, with its launch sales on PS5 being enough to see it top sales charts in the region. Sony and Shift Up haven't shared any official sales data just yet, but this marks a good start for the title, which holds the potential to sell well long-term. TopSpin 2K25 was another new entry in the UK sales chart last week, debuting in third place.
For more sales data concerning Stellar Blade, we'll need to wait for Circana to share its monthly report for the USA and the weekly Japan purchasing chart. Other new games include Sand Land at 16th and Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which could only muster up a debut in 27th place. Then, besides Stellar Blade and TopSpin 2K25, the top 10 is made up of the usual suspects like Hogwarts Legacy, WWE 2K24, and the ever-lasting Grand Theft Auto V.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 27th April 2024
- Stellar Blade
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- TopSpin 2K25
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Its a really good game, has some flaws and its basically a surface level take on Nier Automata but the combat, music and visuals are fantastic. Even the open world stuff is actually pretty decent with secrets to find and puzzles to do in them. Hope the game does really well.
Great! Started playing it today! They've tightened up the controls a bit and the performance on console is "stellar"
Good for it! Good games deserve good sales.
Awesome, the sequel will be goty
Amazing game and well deserved sales. Negative comments incoming in 3...2...1...
I wasn't really into the demo - what are people's thoughts on the game vs the demo?
My main issue with the demo was the area you go to after the initial action scene seemed empty and dead to explore. Are there vast open areas and are there any settlements to explore with NPCs?
@itsfoz there is a town later on that gets more populated the further through the game you get but most of the areas you go out and explore are pretty sparse and derelict with the odd NPC thrown in. Plenty of places to explore and a few of the levels really open up with nooks and crannies to find boxes, upgrades etc. Im enjoying it alot more than i did the demo and i liked that too.
@DennisReynolds I think I prefer the combat in Stellar Blade to Nier, although yeah, the story and voice acting is nowhere near as strong.
Good to hear. Sony were smart to get behind this one, feels like a game from a different era (in all the best ways)
I wish there's steelbook for the physical disc version, I want to buy the physical version but I don't like ps5 disc cases compared to switch cases.
It's always good to see great games get the attention they deserve. Single Player games for the win, TO FREEDOM!!!
It's a great game, but god damn is the platforming awful.
@Yorozayu This is one of the things I am really enjoying about it, that I wasn’t expecting. I know if I trek out of my way to that random corner of the map it’s going to reward me for making the journey and quite often there’s some interesting surprises.
Very good game overall but I’d agree with a lot of the criticisms. Frustrating platforming, terrible English voice acting and the side quests are pretty dry. However the actual gameplay, combat, exploration, world building, upgrade system, performance and visuals are excellent. A good part of my love this game stems from going in expecting a linear, button mashing fighter who’s only unique selling point is its hyper sexualisation but instead finding a really well designed new IP.
@LordAinsley i also like the combat in this game more than Neir. There seems like there is more skill involved whilst not going in to the soulsbourne side of frustration and agree the story is weaker. Its not bad just drawn out a little. I had to switch to Korean with the English sub 😂
@itsfoz It definitely opens up a lot of more than the demo leads you to believe, with lots of areas to explore, gorgeous visuals and goodies to find. Combat becomes more enjoyable as you upgrade and progress as well.
@GilgaMax96 Yeah. I agree and it was my biggest gripe with the game. But 20 hours in I've gotten used to it and it's not that bad.
That's great to see...I know it's been a lightning rod for rather strange discourses but nonetheless it's a new IP with a sizable budget behind it so it's good to see it off to a good start.
We did it guys!
Competition is weak, most of those games have been out forever. I doubt that topspin game sold that many copies too and still got third place.
@Zenos That, to some extent, will play a part but I think the general view that it’s only selling well because of tiddies is doing a disservice to the devs. I can only speak for myself here but I would still think it’s a good game if the main character was a 45 year old hairy bloke wearing a bin bag and a clown mask.
Yes a portion of the buyers will have bought it for the perving but I would hazard a guess that the majority of players bought it because it reviewed well and is a good game in its own right. If it got 4/5/6 scores it probably wouldn’t have sold nearly as well.
Glad to see it sold more than the Mario Kart remake.
@Zenos fair point I misread, apologies 😀
It's good to see a new IP do well. Great game too. I like when Sony takes more chances on games like Returnal & Stellar Blade in between their big established franchises.
@Zenos I do love a good rant before fully reading the comment I’m ranting about.
@GeeEssEff there's not a demographic gamer that's significant enough to buy this game EXCLUSIVELY because the protagonist is attractive to make a difference to sales. If that were the case DoA would be the best selling game ever made.
A good game like this will sell whatever the avatar. Heck, most games offer an option between the TWO sexes, so as nice as it is to have pretty avatars, it's not a deal breaker on buying a game. Well... not unless they're one of these cry babies who have to find everything offensive on other people's behalf ☺️
Heavily marketed controversial thing sells well. Who'd have thought? Certainly not marketing professionals that come up with strategies for these things!
Generate marketing/controversy induced hype, sell big preorder numbers which generates more hype, ??? profit. It's gross, but they definitely have the sales cycle down pat and know how to herd their market.
@Lup Port, not remake. Get your terms straight!
Love to see it! I can already tell I'm going to be a bit sad whenever I finish it. The game is an absolute blast to play! If Shift Up has the time and resources I'd love to see a bloody palace like mode for Stellar Blade. If not though no problem. Congratulations Shift Up!
Really glad to see Stellar Blade succeeding, the game is a ton of fun. I loved Nier Automata and I can tell how similar Stellar Blade is to Automata.
N.i.c.e. stellar blade is definitely going to have a sequel .word up son
Great result! Hopefully it's doing well in other territories, too!
Stellar Sales
@Yorozayu Tbh I’m not usually particularly invested in stories in games. I’m a pure gameplay man and a serial cut scene quitter so I was not put off when reading about the characters and acting being a bit rubbish but it is hilariously noticeable. It’s like they recorded all the actors separately, gave them absolutely zero context for the scenes and just said “yep that’ll do” after the first take. I’ve seen planks of wood with more personality. But weirdly I am actually interested in the overall story and the world it’s just the acting and character development that seems a bit naff.
Good to hear, hopefully it can keep the momentum.
I hope any unnecessary bad choices by Sony/the dev make from the release of this do not throw off what should be success for this game
@itsfoz I'm 10 hours in. The combat is getting even more satisfying, the story and characters got more interesting; but they are all built-on/expanded from the base in which the demo gives a pretty good sense of it.
If you are not into this type of fast-paced action games (as much as I love this game, I'm fully aware that no game is for everyone), I guess the main game won't change your mind.
@GilgaMax96 i love the combat but the platforming feels more like Mario brothers then uncharted
I'm having an absolute blast with this game. An absolute treat - fun, finished, polished game without in your face microtransactions. Thrilled.
