If you haven’t played Under Defeat, either in an arcade, on a SEGA Dreamcast, or on the PS3, then you haven’t lived. The helicopter-based scrolling shooter is a thing of bullet hell beauty, with its isometric camera perfectly framing the on-screen action. Previously only available in Japan, the aforementioned high definition PS3 re-release introduced the classic to a global audience in 2012.
And now it’s coming to the PS5, courtesy of City Connection and G.Rev. While there’s no release date just yet, you can expect it to deploy in the “winter”, with new music and other improvements. There’s no gameplay footage of the re-release available just yet, but you can check out a playthrough of the PS3 edition through here.

Desert Strike remaster when?
Another classic shooter for me to add to the collection! Fantastic, I'm looking forward to it...
Looking forward to this. I do love a good shmup!
Very cool.
I won't lie I don't think I was aware of this game, but after a glance on YouTube it looks like a lot of fun.
I never knew about this.
I do love arcade games and wish we got more on consoles especially for current gen.
Really hope we get gun support again one day for current consoles though.
I loved using the PS3 move’s light gun for Time Crisis 4 and Razing Storm, House of the Dead 3 and 4, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles, also House of the Dead Overkill
This site rated the game a 7/10 and this means I haven’t lived, if I did not play it ? I am slightly confused.
Anyway, I will give it a try on PS5.
This is great news! I really enjoyed it on PS3, but as with all my PS3 things, it’s buried in a box in the life size jenga game that is my basement.
Also, this has been a great few years for classic shooters (or shmups, if you must). Everything from cutesy Cotton to tough as nails DoDon Pachi is making an appearance, though you may have to navigate the Japanese store to get to some of them.
Brilliant game, have this gem on my Dreamcast & arcade.
Hopefully no slowdown was awful on both PS3 & xbox
Had this on Dreamcast years ago. Decent game, but I always preferred Zero Gunner 2 for my chopper action.
Im ok with my Xbox copy.
I wouldnt place it anywhere near the greats like Battle Gareggra or Ketsui. Or even the Mushihimesama /dodonpachi /Esp series of games.
I mean its nice to have it on an even more modern console that still connected to the TV.....but Id honestly prefer 50+ shmup ports before I get to under defeat.......so its a pass for me.
