If you were hoping the news Housemarque has to share tomorrow is a Returnal sequel announcement, you may want to rein your expectations in by quite a significant amount. The Twitter account for Dark Horse Comics has retweeted the developer's post and added a simple sentence: "Tomorrow. 👀" This heavily suggests the company is involved with the announcement.
With main character Selene featured in the original post Housemarque put out, combining information from both tweets would suggest the two firms have a comic book that continues the story of Selene beyond the events of the PS5 game.
When the official announcement is shared, we'll be sharing the news here on Push Square. In the meantime, would a Returnal comic book interest you? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Pour water on it quickly haha.
If you misread a panel, the comic will force you to start over
noooo!!! That can't happen, right?!
Sort of strange to produce a comic for this so far after it’s release, but hey it’s something, isn’t it?
depends on the creative team as to my interest. after a few fallow years of mostly just publishing Hellboy, some Matt Kindt books, and Black Hammer, plus licensed Halo, Cyberpunk 2077, and Avatar comics that (no offense) nobody but diehard fans care about (plus localized manga which is a whole different beast, obviously), Dark Horse is finally back to publishing new stuff that's interesting and bringing in top talent.
if this is on par with the Halo, etc. comics in terms of "this is only for diehard fans" then no. if it's a good standalone comic (like the recent Transformers, Universal Monsters, and Dick Tracy series at Image/Skybound and Mad Cave, when it comes to licensed comics), then absolutely. I love comics and Returnal seems cool (though I have yet to play it), but I want something that is a ***good comic*** first and a brand extension far, far, far second.
@Yorozayu sarcasm aside, CYOA comics can and do work. but only as one-shot stories. a CYOA series is not practically doable, but something like the excellent Rogue Sun #7 is.
God dammit. Sony seems to be doing everything except releasing (new) games these days or putting any effort into VR (ports etc..).
Reminds me of Xbox and their controllers....want a new game? Here have a controller/comic.
@CaptD never thought I’d see the day where this many companies actively chase away money while thinking it’s making great decisions. Not because of any anti big corporation sentiment, but because I never believed so many wildly successful bigwigs were actually stupid.
I'm surprised people were expecting game announcements considering we're fast approaching event season (e.g. last year had a Playstation Showcase in May). Would make more sense to put game announcements in an event.
@CaptD We talking about the same Sony that have published Helldivers, Rise of the Ronin, MLB The Show 24 and just last week Stellar Blade?
VR ports I'd agree with.
Nooooo!!! We want a sequel!!!
@AdamNovice I think we are talking about the same Sony, I should have mentioned First Party like I did in the initial Housemarque article.
But hey agree to disagree and all that.
Super disappointing if that’s the case #ew
Could also be an art book. Dark Horse is heavy on vg art books, and the quality is pretty great. I'd be interested in seeing Returnal concept art.
@AdamNovice I won’t lie, some of those VR games look pretty cool and I’d totally play them if they weren’t VR.
Looooool.
I sincerely feel bad for anyone who was really hoping for more, but holy cow how anticlimactic.
I wasn't necessarily expecting anything major, but this would still be a disappointment. With how much radio silence we've had from Sony first party studios, it really seems ill timed to share a tweet like that, only for it to be something that's barely video game related.
