Last year, publisher Spike Chunsoft made it clear that its new, Danganronpa-inspired title — Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE — would be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. However, something's changed over the last 12 months or so, because the game's now set to release for PS5 on the 18th July. It's possible that there was some kind of one-year exclusivity deal in place.
RAIN CODE sounds suitably mental, by the way. Again, it's from "the minds" that brought us the Danganronpa series, but it's being described as a "dark fantasy detective action game". It deals with paranormal happenings as well as dystopian themes, which involve megacorporations and the like. We're getting more information later this week, on the 9th May, so you can probably expect some fresh gameplay footage from the newly announced platforms.
Our friends over at Nintendo Life reviewed this one last summer, awarding it a respectable 7/10. "Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE is a solid follow-up to the Danganronpa franchise that demonstrates a heap of ambition from its developers and mostly lives up to its predecessor's impressive reputation," they wrote.

Oh no, not another Kodaka game.
Great game and one of my favourite games from last year, if you're a fan of danganronpa then I definitely reccomend it.
As I think we've all learned by now, third-party exclusives don't really exist anymore. They're always going to go elsewhere to make money from new audiences.
This one's image quality issues were super noticeable to me compared to the comparative sharpness of Danganronpa, so hopefully it'll shine on the new platforms.
I did have my eyes set on this back when it released on Switch, but narrowly decided to hold off on it. This'll be a good excuse for me to pick it up.
It's a little silly to be making Switch exclusive games this late in the console's lifespan
Been looking forward to this. Almost bought it on Switch many times.
Yeah almost picked this one up on switch as I love the Danganronpa series. Held off as I heard there are quite a few graphical issues (blurry images etc) - so will absolutely be getting this in due course
Great news. I'm interested in everything by Kodaka or Too Kyo Games, but I'd much rather play their stuff on my currently active system than dust off my Switch. I'll be getting it.
Picked this up on sale at Best Buy a little while back, haven’t had a chance to fire it up yet.
Maybe I’ll double-dip on PS5 as well. I’m a fan of games like this.
Glad I waited! I knew it would release on other platforms eventually.
@Ralizah @crimsontadpoles Upupupu!
Anyone know how this game's story and twists stack up against dgr 2 or ai the somnium files. I'm hoping it's something similar to those
What? You just never know about these exclusives, do you? We still have no Dragon Quest Treasures or Rune Factory 5 on PS5.
HELL YEAAAAAAAA. Day 1. Bought it on Switch when it came out but I just don't enjoy playing that old thing like I used to. Need it on PS5.
No ps4 port? That's odd considering it's a switch game.
@jorel262 I'm still Surprised we got Rune factory 4 on PlayStation.
