The Assassin's Creed series is essentially a single player live-service offering at this point, and with the introduction of a franchise hub in Assassin's Creed Infinity, those efforts at Ubisoft are only being furthered. You can still keep your DLC consumption to a traditional standard in the newly unveiled Assassin's Creed Shadows, though, as its PS Store listings reveal a season pass promising two expansions post-launch.
There aren't any details yet revealing the themes of the two DLC packs, but given the expansions featured in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, you can expect them to offer anywhere between six to 15 hours of new content, depending on how much of it you wish to complete. The season pass also unlocks a bonus quest at launch, where you'll "help a loyal dog avenge his late master".
The reason we say "at least" two expansions is because that was also the plan — at least publicly — for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Starting off with The Siege of Paris and Wrath of the Druids, the French publisher later expanded its DLC scope with Dawn of Ragnarok. While it eventually released standalone, the Basim-focused title Assassin's Creed Mirage was once even part of Valhalla.
There's also the question of how Assassin's Creed Infinity ties into all this. The new hub for the series is still shrouded in a lot of secrecy, so expect concrete details at Ubisoft Forward next month, but it's designed to be a place where you access lots of different Assassin's Creed games and stories. New content could be delivered through it and the Animus Store too.
You could get the season pass in the Gold Edition along with three days of early access (from 12th November 2024) for £94.99 / $109.99, or the Ultimate Edition, which bundles in extra item packs and skill points for £114.99 / $129.99. Physical options are also available:

So buy game in 3 years then.
It's a pass from me than.
Will buy the GOTY on sale in the future, no rush...
I'm most curious to see how this all connects with AC Invictus, the multiplayer game in development. Like will you unlock AC Shadows skins for owning the game/completing quests? Very interesting time to be an AC fan.
@Neverwild
Indeed, you are right on it.
After seeing how many patches and DLC Valhalla went through, 3 years is actually a pretty safe bet for a complete version.
Never buy a AC game on release.
So when you say new content could be delivered via the hub or the “animus store”, are these separate marketplaces that cut Sony out (as epic are doing with Apple)? Sorry but I haven’t played an assassins creed game since a short dalliance in black flag.
If so I’m not sure I like that.
@thefourfoldroot1 We don't really have the full details surrounding Infinity yet, but the purchases will have to exist on the PS Store also. I don't think Sony will be cut out of anything.
I bet it releases In a knackered state lol
Game that consisting of 100 hours of climbing towers, killing 5 people in a settlement and opening 10000 chests promises further 30 hours of thrilling tower climbing, settlement liberating, chest opening action in post launch window.
@LiamCroft
Hopefully, although they have said they are focusing in on “ongoing targeted investments in proprietary technologies to reach and sustain a competitive advantage”. Could just mean the AI assistance they’ve been harping on about, but it is just a matter of time before these publishers seek to force their own stores into the platform holders ecosystem.
Definitely NOT gonna buy it full price at launch, they can include whatever they want in those Gold and Ultimate editions...
If they keep the price of Ubisoft Plus below 20$, i'll get 1 month and play it there.
If not, I'll buy the game a few years later at a heavy discount, and with all expansions included...
@Jamesblob First of all nobody is gonna review bomb this game because it won't release on steam and nobody cares about other scores like playstation stars. Second the game on pc will have denuvo and will need ubisoft forward to play so it will need an internet connection to at least start the game. Third the game won't be always online since it's a single player game and that's what important.
@Neverwild More like 1 year. This game won't get a dawn of ragnarok expansion as ubisoft has plans for Hexe after this unlike valhalla when they didn't have any ac title in 2022 so they pushed the expansion (the valhalla 2 season pass expansions filled that in 2021 and odyssey 2 season pass expansions filled that in 2019) so unless hexe comes in 2027 these 2 season pass expansions is all we're gonna get since they will cover 2025
@OthmaneAD Just get it for next to nothing in 2 years. Even better get is secondhand and the DLC at a massive discount.
I’m curious as to how this infinity “hub” is going to work. Considering the size of many AC games they don’t expect you to have several installed simultaneously to get any hub benefits? 🤔
TBH, I don't really get how individual games have DLC when they're being Sold? Hosted? in the same 'hub'. I was expecting standalone AC 'episodes' of varying lengths.
It's Ubisoft. This $130 version will probably be $30 or less in a year or so.
Honestly if the world is more condensed than Valhalla than yeah this good but Valhalla was just way to much
Definitely one to get in the sales, and that’s ok. The DLC is often decent in these games but playing them after beating a very very long game usually tires me out. Plus it’s a million times less egregious now than it was in AC 2, which just openly jumps you past sequences if you don’t own the DLC, it doesn’t even pretend that the game isn’t incomplete without you buying the DLC.
I just hope you can build quests like in odyssey. Either way I preordered the season pass so let’s see how it goes.
I really hope the sword combat is good. One issue I have with AC is that the weapons feel the same with damage modifiers. They have a chance to really step up this game.
