Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion is out in a month, so it's time to start planning that next playthrough. Developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco are adding to the enthusiasm, again teasing some of the powerful foes that await players in the eagerly-anticipated offering, as well as the many exciting lore implications they present.
On Twitter, the official Elden Ring account posted the beauty below, a long-haired nightmare patiently awaiting players in the Realm of Shadow. Likely a boss, fans quickly noted the similarities between this new enemy and Godwyn the Golden, sharing a similar scar on its back. Further, it also features twisted Omen horns, just like Mohg and Morgott, Godwyn's imperfect brothers.
Being starved of Bloodborne for so long, players have understandably drawn connections. Previously, we were treated to glimpse an insect-like enemy, which immediately brought back nightmares of that game's infamous Winter Lantern enemies. Also, if you can see the anatomical outline of a uterus in the image, you aren't alone in that; the birth trauma of would-be gods was a central theme of Bloodborne and seems like something the developer is interested in exploring further.
